They are stigmatized and discriminated for their (often perceived) psychosexual behavior and activities, which has got social disapproval. However stigma, discrimination and violation of human rights restrict them to access to general social services like health and education. Therefore, they suffer from the common diseases (due to lack of information and services) including sexually transmitted infections (STI), HIV/AIDS, and they pass the risks of those to their spouses and their surrounding population. But the purpose of the PRESEP has given clear direction that `selected marginalized communities capable in demanding their rights related to accessing information, civil amenities, health and education and the society is compassionate and understanding to respect their human dignity and support in realization of human rights for the marginalized community. The study shows that by developing self-esteem at individual level and capacity building for organizational development can improve overall situation including HIV/AIDS positively.Item Relationship between Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Depression(Daffodil International University, 2014-07-01) Ali, Rumela; Rahman, Dr AnisurThe purpose of the study is to find out the relationship between T2DM and depression. Satisfactory method of tooth brushing and only 12.9% of the control , so there was significant difference in method of tooth brushing between two groups (x2=15.557.p=0.00 ). Female 62.9% were more affected by rheumatic fever than males (37.1%). Fever and joint pain were the most common sign and symptoms of rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever occurrence was more in the children whose mothers were housewives (x2=11.090; P=0.011).Item The Factors for Low Back Pain Among the School Children(Daffodil International University, 2014-07-01) Sabbir, Wasiqur Rahman; Akter, JeasminThe human spine is in the sagittal plane, the cervical spine and the lumbar spine have a lordotic curve, which is cunter-balanced by thoracic kypotic curv., These curves provide optimal biomechanical anchoring to the numerous muscle groups. These curves allow optimal load transfer along the spine and abdominal cavity. Any significant change in these curves structurally alters the stress transfer across the vertebral units, potentially subjecting them to injury, which invariably leads to pain. The purpose of the study was to find out the proportion of low back pain among the school children. Having the mechanical problem associated with low back pain among the school children by using school desk assess the psychological factors associated with low back pain among the study subject and assess the others factors associated with low back pain among the study subject. In this cross-sectional study a total of 136 school children (male 59, 43.4%; female 77, 56.6%), mean age 13.18 years, duration of the work near about six months were obtained from different area of Dhaka city. A total 136 school children included in the study among them 68.4% have low back pain and 31.6% did not have low back pain. Significant factors are physical activities, mode of transport and duration sedenty activity.Item Thrombolytic, Analgesic and Antidiarrhoeal Activities of Methanol Extract of Bauhinia Acuminata Linn(Daffodil International University, 2014-07-01) Shilpi, Rabeya Islam; Khan, Mohammad Firoz; Rahman, Md. Arifur; Sikder, Md. Al Amin; Rashid, Mohammad A.The present study was designed to evaluate the analgesic and antidiarrheal activities of a methanol extract and thrombolytic activity of methanol extract and its different partitionates obtained from the leaves of Bauhinia acuminata Linn. The analgesic activity was determined on mice model for its central and peripheral pharmacological actions using acetic acid-induced writhing and tail immersion tests, respectively and antidiarrheal effect was assessed by castor oil-induced diarrhea model at 200 and 400 mg/kg b.w. In in vitro thrombolytic study, the petroleum ether soluble materials of methanol extract revealed highest thrombolytic activity with clot lysis value of 46.66±0.67% as compared to 63.26±0.47% exhibited by the standard streptokinase. The extract significantly (P< 0.05) attenuated the acetic acid-induced writhing with the highest activity observed at 400 mg/kg b.w. (41.43%) comparable to that of the standard drug, diclofenac sodium (47.62%). A significant dose-dependent increase (P< 0.05) of latency period was also observed in the tail immersion method. During the castor oil-induced diarrheal assay, the extract showed significant (P<0.05) and dose dependant antidiarrheal effect. These findings indicate that sthe extract has potential thrombolytic, analgesic and antidiarrheal activity which support the folkloric claim and thus have great potential as a source of natural products.
