The aim of the present study was to investigate the different protein fractions of the early aged calf of a stall feeding dairy cattle. Total protein, albumin, globulin and γ globulin were determined by using biochemical analyzer. The results of the present study showed that total protein (72.56 ± 29.4), albumin (44.8 ± 2.46), globulin (27.76 ± 4.47), & ϒ globulin (2.9 ± 2.07) in calves. It may be concluded that biochemical variation of serum of different calves and it is very important for interpretation of serum biochemistry for laboratory data in various age group animals.Item A CASE REPORT ON BOVINE KETOSIS(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2020-09) Md Muhyminul Islam, Md MuhyminulA 3.5 years old Holstein Friesian cow having body weight 350 kg having clinical signs of decreasing milk production, loosing body weight. Body condition score is very poor (3). Physical examination revealed red color urine, low ruminal movement, pale mucous membrane. Sweetish odor came out during expiration. Some laboratory tests (routine examination of blood, routine examination of urine, serum biochemistry) are advice for confirmatory diagnosis. Tests results showed higher serum triglyceride and lower serum glucose, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. Red blood cell and ketone bodies are found in urine. After analysis of tests result data, physical examination findings and owner history the case was diagnosed as bovine ketosis. Intravenous glucose, calcium, phosphorus preparation, kidney tonic was given as treatment protocol. The owner was advised to supply balance ration containing enough carbohydrate during lactation period of high yielding cow as a preventive measures of ketosis.Item A CASE REPORT ON CAESAREAN SECTION OF COW AT LOHAGARA UPAZILLA, CHATTOGRAM, BANGLADESH(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2020-08) BARUA, BIJOYCaesarean Section is a surgical procedure in which an incision is given through the abdominal wall and uterus in order to deliver fetus. It is also known as C-section. Dystocia is a common disorder in high yielding breeds. It is one of the most challenging surgical procedures in case of dystocia to save life of dam and fetus. An owner came from Charomba with a history of 3 years old Sahiwal cross cow of first pregnancy suffering from difficult parturition at his backyard farm to Upazilla veterinary hospital & livestock office, Lohagara, Chattogram. The owner claimed that the cow had labor pain more than 24 hours. On clinical examination the cow revealed normal temperature, respiration, heart rate and pulse rate. The cow was in lateral recumbent position. Per vaginal examination revealed complete dilatation of cervix, anterior presentation of fetus but only two fore limbs were in the bath canal & the head was laterally bend with existence of death fetus. Then it was decided to perform a cesarean section to deliver fetus. The surgery was performed only using local anesthesia by inverted ‘L’ block technique. Instruments were sterilized by boiling of water. The operation site was prepared for aseptic surgical procedure. A vertical incision was given in the left flank. Single death fetus was surgically and successfully removed with proper care to avoid proliferation of uterine contents into the peritoneal cavity. The cow was treated with antibiotics (Streptopenicillin@10mg/kg, IM), antihistaminic (Pheniraminemaleate@1mg/kg, IM), painkiller (Meloxicam@ 0.5mg/kg, s/c), fluid (5% DNS, IV) and minerals (Ca, Mg, P, IV) during the first 5 days of post-surgery. For topical application at incision line in skin used 5% Povidone iodine twice in a day. Removed skin suture materials at 14th day of post-surgery. Caesarean section through left flank laparotomy is an effective method of resolving dystocia to save cow with fetus.Item A case report on Chronic Kidney Disease in a dog at Madras Veterinary College, TANUVAS , India(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2017-08) Faridul Islam, Md.In this case study, the clinical and biochemical findings of chronic kidney disease(CKD) and proposed therapeutic recommendation in a geriatric dog is presented. Blood picture revealed mild increase in neutrophil. Serum urea nitrogen, creatinine and phosphorus levels were significantly elevated. The International Renal Interest Society (IRIS) staging system was used for the staging and treatment of the affected dog. The dog met the criteria for Stage 4 because its blood creatinine was >5 mg/dL. Though the prognosis is poor, proper medication and dietary supplement was given which can increase the lifespan of the affected dog.Item A Case Report On Chronic Kidney Disease With Cardiomyopathy Of A Dog(Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2019) Uddin Nipu, Md NaimThis report presents a case of a 10-year-old canine patient diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hypertensive cardiomyopathy. The dog exhibited typical symptoms of CKD, such as decreased appetite, weight loss, increased thirst, and frequent urination. Laboratory tests confirmed elevated kidney function markers, including Creatinine and Blood Urea Nitrogen, along with proteinuria in urine analysis. Ultrasound imaging revealed structural changes in the kidneys. Additionally, elevated cardiac troponin-I levels and X-ray findings indicated heart enlargement, suggesting hypertensive cardiomyopathy. A comprehensive treatment plan was implemented to address the underlying conditions and improve the dog's quality of life. This included dietary modifications to reduce protein and phosphorus intake, medication to manage blood pressure and control phosphorus levels, and supportive care to address secondary complications. Regular monitoring of kidney function and overall health was essential to assess treatment response and adjust the treatment plan as needed. While the dog showed initial improvement following treatment, long-term management of CKD and its associated complications remains crucial. This case underscores the significance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for CKD in dogs. By addressing the underlying kidney disease and its associated complications, veterinarians can improve the quality of life and extend the lifespan of affected dogs.Item A Case Report on Clinical Management of Lumpy Skin Disease in Bull at Chattogram,CVASU(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2020-09) Adwaita BormanThis paper reports a clinical management of lumpy skin disease in bull. This case history was that, 10 years old American Brahman cattle, weighing 938kg, presented with a primary complaint of weakness, off- feed and laminitis. The cow had a history of being imported from America to Bangladesh. Physical examination findings revealed severe dehydration, off-feed, laminitis. Clinical examination findings were rectal temperature 102°F, abnormal rapid breathing and increase heart rate. For proper diagnosis, haemato-biochemical tests of diseased cattle were done, and proximate components and mineral analysis of feed were also done. Blood samples from other four healthy Brahman cattle were also evaluated for comparison. Haematological parameters of diseased cattle revealed Hb 70g/L, PCV 24% and TLC 18.10×10³/cumm. In biochemical examination of diseased cattle found calcium 7.3mg/dl, phosphorus 8.4 mg/dl, albumin 22.6g/L, AST 153.6 U/L, ALT 109.7 U/L, BUN 45.6 mg/dl, creatinine 4.7 mg/dl, total protein 117.1g/L and glucose 27.6 mg/dl. The haemato-biochemical parameters of healthy cattle were within normal range. Due to the severe dehydration and prolonged fasting in diseased cattle, blood glucose levels are drastically reduced. In conclusion, we may say that the diseased cattle had died due to hypoglycaemic shock.Item A case study on ileocolic intussusception in a Doberman dog(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal |Sciences University, 2013-06) Bary, Md. AkramulA study was undertaken to diagnose the ileocolic intusussception and compared the haematological parameters of a four-months-old male doberman dog with normal value. The dog was presented on october 3, 2012 to the pet centre, Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), Namakkal, India, with a history of vomiting and tenesmus, no defecation, fresh blood was discharging through rectum, abdominal palpation felt a firm, painful mass in the mid-caudal abdomen. The case was suggestive of intestinal intussusceptions, later on an ultrasound examination revealed alternating hyperechoic and hypoechoic concentric rings within the lumen of a distended loop of bowel, giving the typical "target" sign and soft-tissue opacity mass was being identified on survey radiographs. The intussusception was found to be ileocolic on laparotomy. Resection and end-to-end anastomosis was performed. After surgery, the patient recovered slowly and did not vomit for 5 days, after which the patient regurgitated once daily. So, rapid identification of the intussusception with correction of fluid and electrolyte disorders, followed by immediate surgical intervention, is being possible to a successful outcome. Key words: canine, ultrasonography, intestinal telescoping, resection, end-to-end anastomosis.Item A Case Study on Repeated Jaundice in a Local Breed Female Cat(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2022-11) Rashid Mim, AfrinA 2-year-7-month-old female local breed cat was diagnosed with jaundice about 3 times this year. The cat was icteric with severe hyperbilirubinemia. Hematological and serum biochemical analysis revealed that the cat had severe hyperbilirubinemia associated with hypophosphatemia and FIV virus. It also had moderate elevation of alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total protein, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. Our study revealed that hemolysis occurs due to hypophosphatemia and FIV virus infection and this condition leads to repeated jaundice. After being treated with medicinal drugs such as cynomin, cataphos, amphexin and given a nutritionally balanced diet accordingly to daily energy the cat recovered from this condition.
