Item A Comprehensive Valuation Report on a Proposed Mortgage Property(Daffodil International University, 2025-01-12) Hossen, Md AnowerThis report presents an in-depth property valuation of a proposed mortgage, located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The study includes a detailed examination of the land, building structure, utilities, and other factors influencing the property's overall market value. The property surveyed is a three-storied residential building, with a plinth area of 2490 sq. ft. and a total floor area of 6232 sq. ft. The structure is built on a pile foundation with an RCC frame, ensuring durability and stability. Utilities such as gas, water, and electricity are readily available, enhancing the property's appeal. The market value of the property was calculated at Tk. 4,23,27,500.00, while theforced sale value is estimated at Tk. 3,38,62,000.00. Depreciation was applied using the Straight-Line Method at a rate of 2.5% annually. Furthermore, the value of the property as eligible security was assessed at Tk. 2,11,63,750.00. This valuation report highlights the importance of precise and reliable property assessment, particularly in the context of mortgage security. The findings affirm that the property holds significant market value and serves as a secure asset for both the lender and the borrower due to its advantageous location and the ongoing development of the surrounding area.Item Design of a Constructed Wetland for a Dormitory(Daffodil International University, 2025-07-09) Biswas, Atiqur RahmanThis thesis presents the implementation of a constructed wetland system for a student hostel of 2250 students (Younus Khan Scholar's Garden-2), located in Ashulia, within Daffodil Smart City. The main aim of this project is to create an environmentally sustainable approach to wastewater treatment, in accordance with the principles of ecological integrity and resource conservation. The system is specifically designed for purifying the waste water discharged from the hostel to tackle the local water pollution challenges by employing natural mechanisms for water filtration and purification. The thesis explores the theoretical framework of wetland design, presents comprehensive calculations and schematics, and assesses the anticipated environmental and socio-economic advantages. Furthermore, the research investigates the feasibility of integrating the constructed wetland into the surrounding landscape, thereby enhancing both the aesthetic and ecological significance of Younus Scholar's Garden-2. Approximately 1275 m2 area is needed for constructing the wetland.By utilizing native plant species and locally available materials, the project seeks to minimize operational expenses while fostering local biodiversity. The results of this study indicate that constructed wetlands can serve as a cost-effective and sustainable method for wastewater treatment, thereby improving water quality and advancing the objectives of environmental stewardship in urban environments.Item Analysis of the Physical Properties of Solid Waste from Three Different Buildings.(Daffodil International University, 2025-07-09) Ahamed, Rabbi; Haque, Md. RubelThis study examines the physical characteristics of solid waste—namely moisture content and bulk density—produced in three specific locations at Daffodil International University: the Civil Engineering Building (A1), Yunus Khan Scholar Garden 2 (A2), and Food Court 2 (A3). The study seeks to evaluate the impact of these physical factors on suitable disposal options and to propose location-specific waste management procedures. Waste samples were collected over a ten-day period and analyzed using normal laboratory protocols to ascertain moisture content using oven-drying methods and bulk density based on mass-to-volume ratios. The results demonstrated considerable diversity among the three locations. A1 produced primarily dry, recyclable trash with an average moisture level of 12.7% and modest bulk density. A2 demonstrated the greatest moisture content (47.7%) and bulk density (194.7 kg/m3), owing to the substantial quantity of food and organic waste. A3 generated heterogeneous trash characterized by intermediate moisture content and low density, indicative of the impact of food packaging and plastic use. The research advocates for a zone-specific waste management strategy: recycling for dry academic trash, composting for organic residential waste, and integrated treatment for mixed commercial garbage. This research highlights the significance of defining physical waste characteristics to develop efficient, sustainable, and economical disposal systems in institutional environments. The results demonstrated considerable diversity in the physical composition of garbage and underscored the elevated moisture content as a constraining factor in conventional landfill and open dumping practices. This paper advocates for incineration as a feasible and energy-efficient method for garbage disposal, particularly appropriate for the regulated institutional setting of a university. Incineration provides a sustainable solution to waste management concerns in private institutions by optimizing energy recovery and minimizing landfill reliance. The paper closes with actionable recommendations for the implementation of an incineration- based system and advocates for regulatory assistance to guarantee environmental compliance and energy efficiency.Item A Study on Traffic Volume and Composition at Dhanmondi 32 Intersection(Daffodil International University, 2025-08-03) Hossain, MD Parvez; Hasan, MD Roman; Mostary, ShamimaTraffic congestion is an important problem in urban regions especially in areas with high traffics like congested junctions where different means of transport interact. This research is about the traffic volume and composition at one of Dhaka, Bangladesh most important junctions, that is the Dhanmondi 32 intersection. The research will determine flow patterns of traffic as well as distributions of vehicles and the levels of congestion with a view of identifying the factors that affect mobility. Data was collected through manual traffic counting and video analysis over multiple time slots, covering peak and off-peak hours. The study groups vehicles under private cars, motorcycles, buses, rickshaws, bicycles, and freight vehicles, examining their contribution towards congestion. Results indicate that private cars and motor cycles during the peak hours (31-34%) and during off-peak hours (26%) dominate the traffic situation. Non-motorized vehicles, rickshaws and bikes contribute more to the situation of delays during the off-peak hours than the actual off peak hours. Although public buses have an important role to play, they are not usually characterized by proper stop management that further aggravates the congestion. Important issues of traffic are identified in the study, namely, inefficient signal coordination, lack of special tracks, as well as uncontrolled movement of pedestrians. From the findings, recommendations include making dedicated lanes for motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles (NMVs) having optimized signal timing, having designated bus bays, and improved pedestrian infrastructure to make the roads efficient and safe. This research is data-driven to guide urban planners, policymakers, and administration in charge of traffic in the city life as to how to decongest and enhance mobility at the Dhanmondi 32 intersection. Adoption of the proposed measures can help create a more disciplined, secure, as well as efficient urban transportation in Dhaka.Item Observation of Waste Collection Route In Shukrabad Area, Dhaka City(Daffodil International University, 2024-02-14) Fahim, A.H.M.M. Toufiqur Noor; Jorj, Dhruba SahaWaste generation is an indispensable part of human existence. The proportion of the waste generation in Bangladesh have been rising with population increasing. Waste management has become an important environmental challenge faced by municipalities. The collection and disposal of waste have grown more difficult as urbanization has increased. The main purpose of the study was to built the easiest and time saving waste collection route at Shukrabad area under Dhaka south city Corporation. We visited the area, collected some pictures and inspected the area with mentioned characteristics.We made some questions and collected the answer from the people of this area.We collected information from 10 van drivers transporting waste from different locations and 2 supervisors working at secondary stations, including how they routed their waste collection, reviewed their work and listened to it.After completing the whole process and the feedback of the residents we proposed a route, which will be the most suitable for this area. We could discuss some potential features that might contribute in future management of the wastes for this particular area.Item Observation Of Drinking Water Quality Parameters of Selected Area Nearby Daffodil Smart City(Daffodil International University, 2024-02-18) Salman, ShaykhThe fundamental requirement for good health and a fundamental human right is access to clean drinking water. It has a close connection to both the economy and the health of the country. Water contamination can harm people's health in a variety of ways. Vomiting, diarrhea, kidney, liver, and stomach cramps are a few of the most common health problems brought on by drinking water. This investigation's goal was to select an area with drinking water quality. I took thirty water samples from three different places: Khagan Bazar, Dattapara, and Changaon, Each sampling area contains ten separate sampling points. The physicochemical properties of the samples were odor, temperature, pH, turbidity, iron, dissolved oxygen (DO), and biological oxygen demand (BOD). All the evaluated characteristics were compared to domestic and international drinking water quality standards to ascertain the study region's overall drinking water quality status. The pH range for standard drinking water has been determined by my research in the Khagan Bazar, Dattapara, and Changaon yielded data that fell within this range. The outcomes for Changaon, Khagan Bazar, and Dattapara, however, some point fall outside of this range. Here, we can observe that the pH levels of the local water are quite near to the average. Additionally, some of the BOD readings from our testing in Khagan Bazar, Dattapara, and Changaon met the requirements. BOD levels in a few different samples were higher than usual. Other parameters EC, Turbidity, Iron, Temperature, DO, and Odor satisfy the drinking water quality.Item Road Safety and Traffic Accident Analysis in Highway The Cases of Savar Highway Thana and Keraniganj Nawabganj Thana(Daffodil International University, 2024-02-18) Rahman, Md. Baizid; Sarker, SagarRoad safety refers to the concept of methods and solutions to protect road users from injury. These include road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, rickshaw and van drivers, public transport buses, trucks, etc. According to WHO, one million people die in road accidents every year. The rate of road accidents is much higher in underdeveloped countries than in developing countries. According to the latest World Health Ranking published in 2020 by the World Health Organization, Bangladesh ranks 88th among 183 countries in road accident death rate. Death rate per 1 lakh is 16.74. 19.89 percent road accidents in 2022 compared to 2021. And the loss of life has increased by 27.43 percent and only in the capital in 2022 the number of road accidents has increased by 97.70 percent compared to the previous year. 227 people were killed on the road in the last year in the capital. Among whom the number of pedestrians is 60.53 percent. In this paper, we have worked on highway roads in 3 areas of Dhaka city. We have collected road accident data for the past 6 months from Savar Highway Thana, Navagganj Thana and Keraniganj Thana of Dhaka district. We will investigate the accidents in this paper. In this paper we will discuss about the rescue from the accident as well as what should be done or the responsibility of us and the law enforcement agencies. Finally, we will discuss the future research.Item Assessment of 23 Buildings According To Bangladesh Gazette-2008(Daffodil International University, 2024-02-18) Shourab, Iftekar Ahamed; Hossain, Tafazzal; Islam, Md. Toriqul; Islam, Md. SakibulThe assessment of several building categories in Bangladesh, encompassing residential, educational, commercial, and medical structures, along with the accuracy of measurements, is outlined in the Bangladesh Gazette-2008 for a total of 23 constructions. The field survey encompasses several structures inside the city of Dhaka and include the necessary questions. Building standard measures are derived from a variety of sources. The documentation includes information regarding the inputs and utilization rates of various building control systems. This research paper examines accident prevention systems by placing emphasis on and analyzing the standard measuring procedures outlined in the Bangladesh Gazette-2008. This research examines the influence of the review process on the building standards and conditions in Bangladesh.Item Identify Possible Causes and Solutions of Traffic Jam of Dhaka City and Their Impact on Health.(Daffodil International University, 2024-07-06) Shuvo, Faysal Ahmed; Sakib, SadmanThe capital of Bangladesh is Dhaka, bears the title of being the world's most denselypopulated city. As of 2022, the population of Dhaka was 10.2 million, and Greater Dhaka has about 22.4 million citizens. Dhaka faces the constant challenge of escalating congestion, particularly in its roadways. The city’s infrastructure struggles to cope with the increasing vehicles, resulting in extensive traffic jams. Contributing factors include faulty traffic signaling systems, insufficient personnel, limited road space, and aggressive driving habits. These traffic congestions adversely affect our health. To address this issue the government could consider various solutions such as constructing roads to improve east-west connectivity within Dhaka, putting in place a system of grade-separated roads, launching a BRT system, and creating a Metro-Rail system. By all evirating traffic congestion, Dhaka can play a significant role in enriching a healthier environment free from noise and pollution, thereby enhancing the quality of life for its residents.Item A Review on the Utilization of Rice Husk Ash as Admixture in Concrete(Daffodil International University, 2024-07-15) Roy, Tithi; Hossain, FihadTo evaluate the usage of rice husk ash as an additive in a typical setting, the effects of adding RHA to concrete grades 20 and 30 at 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%, respectively, are determined. The recovered husk was sun dried, screened, and burned in an incinerator set at 400 degrees Celsius. After cooling and passing through a 425μm screen, the ash wasadded as an additive during mixing. Both grades of concrete were mixed, and both fresh and hardened concrete's characteristics were evaluated. The CS of a cylinder of RHA concrete samples that were curing in water was measured at 7, 14, and 28 days, respectively. The findings demonstrated that, for both concrete classes, the slump of RHAconcrete increases as the percentage of RHA added increases. The addition of 5% and 10% RHA, respectively, increases the cs of samples of both concrete classes cured in water; however, the strength gain was greater with the addition of 5% RHA. 15% addition of RHA lower than others two percent of addition of rice husk ash
