IstianaturA signal phase inverter is designed and constructed to provide regulated output voltage at 220v. The output power stage is designed in two methods first one is using four power transformer in H-bridge mode to the load through a transformer, and another one is two NMOS power transistors coupled to the load through a transformer. The output is a 50Hz square wave which is obtained by totem-pole driver operation of two transistors using 50 Hz complementary trigger pulse stream for first method. And for the second method 50Hz square wave is obtained using a single PNP transistor. The inverter is constructed and presented. The circuit is tested and it is found that the waveforms obtained at different stages of the circuit conform well to those obtained by computer simulation. The inverter circuit is found to be efficient for applications in appliances.Item Report on MAHTAB Flexible Printing Press(East West University, 2011-04-15) Nipa, FahriaElectricity is the driving force of modem civilization as well as the backbone of all development activities of the country as a whole. This report is based on our internship work in Power Grid Company of Bangladesh at Manik Nagar branch. A power system has three basic segments, i.e. power generation, power transmission and power distribution. Basically Power Grid Company of Bangladesh deals with transmission part only. It primarily focuses on different processes of power transmission in power grid. We were introduced with various equipment of Power Grid, such as Relay, Circuit Breaker, Power transformer, Bus bars, Disconnector, Wave trap, Cable, DC battery. We worked at PGCB as intern for 80 hours. Each day our activities were divided into three parts. yustly our supervisor talked to us about the theory behind our day topic. Then we visited the grid with our supervisor to relate theory with practical implementation. Finally we visited the grid again to gather ourselves information about the equipment of that day. Here we learned about power transmission and the behavior of various equipment used in grids. This report contains a detail description about some of these equipments. As we did not complete any major course related to power prior to doing the internship, we had to face hurdles. It would be beneficial and better for us if we had completed the courses Switchgear, Power Station and Power Electronics.Item An Overview of DESCO’s Distribution, Operation, Maintenance and Customer Care(East West University, 1/29/2012) Sayeed, Md. Sohab; Chowdhury, Abdullah Al MaymunElectricity is the ultimate tool for modernization. It created it, sustains and will hence propel its borders past present limitations. Proper supply of electricity has a positive impact on GDP of a country. In Bangladesh, there is always a deficit of electricity production. At the moment, only 60% of our entire popUlations are getting electricity. People, who are getting electric lines, are also facing a great deal of load shedding. After the liberation war, every government tried to improve power sectors but the struggle with meeting the demands of the electrical consumption still persists. The most pressing problem in the power sector has been with the distribution system, which is characterized by heavy system loss and poor collection perfonnance. Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd. (DESCO) was created in 1996 under company Act 1994 as a public Limited company to improve better revenue collection and better consumer service.Item Drive Test, Survey, Single Site Verification and Optimization in Wimax Technology.(East West University, 1/31/2012) Shah, Md. A. Al-Mamun; Shahriar, Shaimum; Chowdhury, MamunSilicon-on-insulator (SOl) MOSFET is one of the modem state of the art transistor in Qruch a semiconductor layer like silicon is formed above an insulator layer on a semiconductor substrate. In SOl MOSFET, there is much more advantages over bulk silicon MOSFET such as high speed operation, low power consumption, small short channel effects. Over the past several years, the inherent scaling limitations of silicon (Si) electron devices have fuelled the exploration of alternative semiconductors, with high carrier mobility, to further enhance device performance. In particular, compound semiconductors heterogeneously integrated on Si substrates have been actively studied: such devices combine the high mobility of lII-V semiconductors and the well established, low-cost processing of Si technology. This integration, however, presents significant challenges. Conventionally, heteroepitaxial growth of complex multilayers on Si has been explored but besides complexity, high defect densities and junction leakage currents present limitations in this approach. Motivated by this challenge, we use a three surface potentials (gate oxide-silicon film interface, silicon-film-buried oxide interface and buried oxide-substrate interface) based compact model to study a fully depleted SOl and XOI MOSFETs. We have simulated the surface potentials, surface charge density, gate capacitance, drain current, transconductance and unity gain frequency of SOl and XOI MOSFETs. The different output characteristics show a better performance for InAs. We have got high drain current transconductance and unity gain frequency of XOI MOSFET. On the other hand, we got very low (negative) threshold voltage for XOI MOSFET. So, by using XOI MOSFET, we can get high speed operation and amplification, low power consumption than SOl MOSFET as well as bulk silicon MOSFET.Item Design and Implementation of a Line Following Robot with Temperature Sensing and Comparing Capability(East West University, 1/19/2012) Ahmed, Sabbir; Khan, Md. ShlahuddinLine following robot is a kind of robot which can detect a path drawn in a surface. This can be a black line in white surface or white line in a black surface. In this project we made a line following robot which can follow a white line drawn on a black surface. The robot has another feature - the ability to sense the temperature. So, the objective to make this robot is to follow a white line in black surface and also sense the temperature in its path. The robot is programmed so that it can measure temperature in its path at an interval of 30 seconds. The application of this robot is in temperature sensitive areas like cold storage, chemical industries, medicine manufacturing farms etc. In these areas, maintenance of temperature is an important issue, so we can easily use this robot. The principle of detecting the path uses the reflectivity of light. Black surface absorbs light and white surface reflects it. We have used seven LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) and seven LDRs (Light Depending Resistor) to detect the path. An LED and an LDR together make a single sensor circuit. When the sensor is over a white surface, the light from the LED reflects from the surface to the LDR and due to the decrease of resistivity of the LDR, the voltage across the LDR decreases. The output of each sensor circuit works as an input of a comparator (Ie LM324) which compares the output voltage ofLDR to a reference voltage which is given manually. If the LDR output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, then the comparator outputs logic high; otherwise the comparator output is logic low. So the comparator Ie converts the analog signal to digital. As we have used seven sensors to detect path, so we have a combination of seven bits of logical data. Value of this combination always changes during the path following. We use those combinations to the input pins of the microcontroller as the digital data. In our project we have used microcontroller ATmega16A from AVR. The microcontroller gives output (according to the data and the program code) to a motor drive IC.Item Dhaka Polli Bidyut Samity – 1(East West University, 1/31/2012) Islam, K.M. Shikul; Hakim, Md. Sad Bin; Tutul, Md.Rezaul KabirWe have completed our undergraduate internship in Dhaka Polli Bidyut Sarnity-l, Polashbar~ Nobinagar, Savar, Dhaka. Dhaka Polli Bidyut Sarnity-l (DPBS-l) plays a vital role in power transmission and distribution in Dhaka city. The mission of DPBS-l is to ensure long term uninterrupted supply of quality power to the consumers in future. In Bangladesh the demand of power is approximately 5800MW. Public and private sector produces 63% and 37% of electricity respectively. Public sector produces electricity through Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB). On the other hand private sector such as United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited and Summit Power Limited produces power. Dhaka Polli Bidyut Samity-l is not able to produce power by itself. So it purchases power from United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited and Summit Power Limited. Summit Power Limited produces 317MW electric power and supplies to the national grid. In near future to contribute more in power sector this company has plan to setup more branches of power station. The internship in Dhaka Polli Bidyut Samity-lhas given us experience to power generation system (at United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited and Summit Power Limited) and also the transmission and distribution system (of DPBS-I). During our internship in DPBS-l, we were taught about the power plant management system in the power station. This report is the elaborate description of our practical experience.
