Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE MANAGEMENT OF COBB 500 BROILER PARENT STOCK WITH THE RECOMMENDED MANAGEMENT IN ‘’BRAC” POULTRY FARM(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences Universiy, KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG-4225., 2013-02) siddique, RayhanThe study was conducted in a renowned poultry farm BRAC Poultry Farm Limited Miraisari, Chittagong from 1st January to 30th January 2013. The study was undertaken with 30,000 broiler parent stock (Cobb-500). Result related with the average body weight gain at starter stage (one month), grower stage (2-5 month), pre-breeder stage (6 month) and breeder stage (7th month - end) of Cobb-500 female birds was 351.25 gm, 2015.50 gm, 2767.00 gm and 3248.00 gm respectively. Similarly in Cobb-500 male birds it was 396.25 gm, 2698.00 gm, 3434.50 gm and 3850.00 gm respectively. The height egg production of the flock was 81.75% at 8 month of age. The lowest egg production found in start of laying at 6 month and egg production was 72-80% in 9-11 month .The maximum hatchability percentage was observed 91.5% at 9 month of age which was somewhat higher than the standard hatchability that is 89.57% in that month. In all time achieved hatchability percentage were more than the recommended hatchability percentage. Overall mortality of the flock was 3-7% per month. It may therefore be inferred that Cobb-500 broiler parent stock performs well under control housing system in our country.Item A REPORT ON PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF JAPANESE QUAIL (BROILER) AT CHITTAGONG QUAIL HATCHERY AND FARM LTD, CHITTAGONG(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal |Sciences University, 2010-04) Boby, FarjanaUnder consideration of the demand of poultry meat now-a-days in Bangladesh and the profitability of quail farming, the study was conducted with a view to learn the management practices and productive performance of Japanese quail (broiler) in a farm of Chittagong g. To observe the productive performance of one batch of commercial broiler quail from hatching upto marketing age (0-6 wks) under litter floor rearing system, an observational study was conducted for a period of 42 days from July 10 to August 20,2009. The works were done with 400 broiler birds separately reared in two sheds.The chicks were hatched in the own hatchery of farm. Temperature and ventilation were properly maintained during brooding period (0-2 wks). The feeding system was ad-libitum basis. The birds were reared for 6 wks (marketing age) and were sold when the weight of 110-120gm was aquired. The result of the study showed that the feed intake of birds were 2.45, 7.5, 10.4, 17, 19 & 22g in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th weeks respectively. The average weight gain was 120gm at 6 wks with an average feed conversion ratio of 4.56:1. Mortality rate was 4.02%.Item A STUDY ON COLLECTION AND EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT UNCONVENTIONAL TREE LEAVES AVAILABLE IN CHITTAGONG AREA.(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG-4225., 2013-02) Kumar Roy., S.M .PrabirThe present study was conducted to evaluate the nutritive value of krisnachura, ipil-ipil, Neem, kanchan flower, Raintree, Christhmas tree, Mehogony, Koroi, collected from different areas of Chittagong region. A total 32 samples were analyzed to evaluate the percentage of dry matter (DM), ash, crude protein (CP), crude fibre (CF) ether extract (EE) Nitrogen free extract(NFE),Metabolic energy(ME). The DM content is higher incase of Neem (68%) lower in case of kanchan flower (52%). The ash content is higher incase of Neem(11%) lower in case of kori(4.11%). The ether extract content is higher incase of Koroi (13.4%) lower in case of Raintree(2%). The crude protein content is higher incase of Ipil-ipil (23%), lower in case of Raintree (11%). The crude fiber content is higher incase of Christmass tree (43%), lower in case of Mehogony (25%) .From this study it is observed that this fodder contain proximate value which can satisfy the nutritive value in ruminants diet and it can be recommended that these unconventional tree leaves may be used as animal feed as alternative to other feed stuffs of animal. So, the different tree leaves may be used as a supplement with value in addition to animal ration formulation.Item A STUDY ON EFFECT OF GARLIC POWDER ON PERFORMANCE OF BROILER(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2017-12) Sultana, TahminaGarlic powder contains several biologically active substances with prebiotic activity. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the influence of dietary supplementation of garlic powder on performance,and serum lipid profile parameters of broiler chickens. A total of 108 day old chicks (DOC’s) were randomly distributed in three groups in a completely randomized design (CRD) having three replications per group. Those birds were treated either without garlic powder (GP) (T0/control) or with 1% GP (T1) and 1.5% GP (T2) in their regular basal diet and reared for four weeks. Data on performance parameters (feed intake, live weight, feed conversion (FC), weight gain etc.) were measured on weekly basis and data on serum lipid profile parameters (i.e. Cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol levels), were recorded at the end of the experimental period. Results revealed that there was significant (P<0.01) increase in feed consumption by birds at 1st, 3rd and 4th weeks of age of broilers with supplementation of garlic powder. Initially no significant (P>0.05) difference was observed in body weight of broilers. Then, highly significant (P<0.01) differences were observed in body weight of birds throughout the whole experimental period with highest weight in 1.5% GP supplemented group (T2). The second highest value was observed in T1 group (1% GP). FC was significantly improved in 1st (P<0.05), 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks of age of birds (P<0.01) with better FC in groups supplemented with GP. Cumulative FC was also significantly (P<0.01) improved upto 3rd and 4th weeks of age of birds both in T1 and T2 groups compared to control group. The Cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-cholesterol levels were significantly (P<0.01) decreased in GP supplemented groups (T1 and T2). Significantly higher HDL-cholesterol level (P<0.01) was found in T1 and T2 groups than T0 group. Almost all the performance parameters were best in 1.5% GP treatment group than all the groups. This may be recommended for broilers.Item A STUDY ON NUTRITIVE VALUE OF SAWDUST(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2012-05) Rahman, Md. JahidurThe present study was undertaken to observe the chemical composition of different types of sawdust available in the metropolitan areas of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Twenty different types of sawdust of difeerent plants were collected from study areas. Chemical analyses of the samples were carried out in triplicate for moisture, dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), nitrogen free extracts (NFE), ether extracts (EE) and total ash in the animal nutrition laboratory, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Results indicated that, there were no marked variations (P0.05) in the moisture, dry matter and total ash contents of the samples. However, crude protein, crude fiber, nitrogen free extracts and ether extracts content significantly differed (P0.01) from one sample to another. Moisture content varied from 2.6 to 8.4 g/100g, dry matter content varied from 91.40 to 97.40 g/100g, crude protein content varied from 1.8 to 43.5 g/100g, crude fiber content varied from 41 to 74 g/100g, ether extract content varied from 1.0 to 3 g/100g, nitrogen free extracts content varied from 12.8 to 60.24 g/100g and total ash content varied from 0.67 to 2.6 It could therefore, be inferred that, sawdust currently available in the local market are widely variable in terms of their quality.Item A Cohort Study on the Health and Reproductive Success of Red Kangaroos (Macropus rufus) in Chattogram Zoo: Seasonal, Behavioral, and Antimicrobial Resistance Insights(Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2024-10) Mya, UayeItem A comparative study between proximate analysis of Layer poultry feed of Namakkal and Chittagong(A Production Report Submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. CHITTAGONG VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY, KHULSHI , CHITTAGONG, 2015-12) Ullah, AhmedABSTRACT The study was carried out to acquire a comparative proximate analytical picture between layer feeds of Mohanur raj poultry farm in Namakkal and Kazi poultry farm in Bangladesh which are formulated in their farm on the basis of the requirement birds (hen). As the quality of feed is one of the main determinant factors in successful poultry farming, an attempt was made to compare the quality of both Namakkal layer feed,India and Kazi layer layer feeds, Chittagong. The feed was formulated on Layer-layer basis. The proximate analysis of these feeds showed the following composition such as moisture, crude protein (CP), crude fibre (CF), ether extracts (EE), ash and metabolizable energy (ME). The proximate analytical nutrient concentrates were moisture 10.4% and 10.1%, %CP 17.85% and 19.00%, %EE 2.4% and 4.3%, %CF 6.1% and 4.00%, % ash 6.5% and 6.3% finally ME 2650.72 Kcal/kg and 2800 Kcal/kg respectively Namakkal farm feed and Chittagong farm feed. There was significant difference observed in these feed samples with regards to some nutrient concentration. The age of the birds of two farms was also same (55-60 wkks). From this experipent, it was observed that the quality of feed used in Mohanur raj poultry farm (Namakkal) is better than Kazi poultry farm (Chittagong) and the nutrients are also closed to the standard. This experimental study may be helpful for Bangladeshi farmers and poultry nutritionists to compare between for mixed layer of Bangladesh with Indian (Namakkal) hand mixed layer feed.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DIFFERENT METHODS OF MEAT PRESERVATION(Chittagong Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Khulshi- Chittagong-4225, 2013-02) Islam, Md. ManirulThe study was conducted to observe comparative assessment of meat preservation by using different method. The experiment was divided into three treatment groups having two replications. Three samples were collected from locally available markets. Where sample 1 was persevered by freezing method, sample 2 by pickling with vinegar and sample 3 by salting with common salt. The initial pH of the meat samples (S1,S2, S3) were 5.84, 6.33 and 5.90 respectively. The initial moisture percentage of these (3) samples were 77.43, 70.25 and 76.10, respectively. And the total viable count of bacteria was(1.8x106/CFU) in sample1, 2.3x106/CFU) in sample3 which were negligible and in sample2 the microbial load was 14x106CFU/gm. After one month of preservation, the second reading was taken from the same samples. There are some changes observed in pH, moisture, texture, color and TVC. It is revealed that the preserving of meat by salting is significantly better than other two methods. So, it may be concluded that the meat preserving by salting more safety, more reliable and more economic for human consumption.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF COBB 500 BROILER PARENT STOCK IN M. AGHA POULTRY FARM WITH THE RECOMMENDED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF “COBB 500 BREEDER MANAGEMENT GUIDE”(A Production Report Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement for the Degree of Doctor of Veterinary medicine, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, 2014-01) Barua, BrishtiThe study was conducted in a renowned poultry farm M.M.AGHA Poultry Farm Limited Hathazari, Chittagong from 20th october to 19th november 2013 The objective of the study was to compare the care, management & production performance like the body weight gain, egg production percentage and hatchability percentage of egg of Cobb 500 broiler parent stock in the existing management system of M.M. AGHA Poultry farm with the recommended care, management, production performance according to the“ Cobb 500 Breeder Management Guide”. The result of the study reveals that the average observed weekly body weight gain and recommended body weight gain of Cobb 500 female at 21weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks, of age were 2515gm vs 2510gm, 3390gm vs 3385gm , 3615gm vs 3615gm respectively . The average observed weekly body weight gain and recommended body weight gain of Cobb 500 male at 21weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks of age were 3280gm vs 3250gm , 3990gm vs 3960gm , 4250gm vs 4180gm respectively .The average observed weekly egg production percentage and recommended egg production percentage of Cobb 500 at 24weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks of age were 2%vs 5% ,67%vs76%, 83%vs83% respectively . The average observed weekly hatchability percentage of egg and recommended hatchability percentage of egg of Cobb 500 at 24weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks of age were 72% vs 74%, 86% vs 84%, 88% vs 90% respectively. From the analysis of data it can be said that there are very insignificant amount of differences between the observed data and recommended data .Therefore it may be inferred that Cobb 500 performed well under the existing management system.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF COBB 500 BROILER PARENT STOCK AMONG THREE RENOWNED FARMS OF CHITTAGONG(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Khulshi,Chattogram, 2016-11) Hossain, Md. ShahadatA study was carried out in three renowned breeder farms in Chittagong district of Bangladesh. The objectives of the study were to compare the management practices and production performances of parent breeder stock of about 29800 Cobb 500 strain reared in those farms (farm A, B and C). The duration of the study was August 10 to August 30’ 2016 which was done on 18-50 weeks of ages of birds. Relevant information’s related to management of birds (i.e. housing feeding, lighting, vaccination schedule, temperature management, bio-security etc.) were recorded from register book of farms and compared with the standard. Data related to production performance (i.e. feed intake by male and females, live weight, egg production etc.) were also recorded and analyzed. It was revealed that farm A, B and C maintained standard management systems. There was no significant difference (P>0.05) in feed intake by female breeders of three farms though it differed significantly (P<0.05) in males and was higher in farm B and C in comparison with farm A. However, no significant differences (P>0.05) were observed among body weight of male and female birds of farm A, B and C. Egg production was insignificantly (P>0.05) higher in farm B compared to farm A and B. Peak egg production in farm A was observed at 30th weeks (90%), farm B at 31- 42th weeks (95%) and farm C at 32th weeks (91%). From the study it was evident that there were fewer differences in existing management systems of farm A, B and C. Cob 500 performed well in that system. Insignificant amount of differences were observed among the production data of three farms almost in all parameters. It was also noted that production performance in a breeder farm depends mainly on the management practices and there is a negative correlation between the feed intake and egg production of birds.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON HATCHERY PERFORMANCE BETWEEN DHAKA AND CHITTAGONG BRANCHES OF PROSHIKA POULTRY FARM AND HATCHERY LTD.(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal |Sciences University, 2010-04) KARIM, MD.ZIAULThe study was carried out in Proshika Poultry and Hatchery Limited at Savar, in Dhaka district from 13 June to 04 July, 2009. And a comparative study was done by collecting data from Proshika Poultry and Hatchery limited at Shatkaniya in Chittagong district. The study was performed to know the overall hatchery management. A practices data were recorded on hatchery management such as collection, storage, selection, grading and disinfection of hatching eggs, preparation of the setter and hatcher in the incubator, turning and candling of egg, hatching of chicks, grading of chicks, disposal of broken egg and hatchery waste etc. Data were collected from hatchery record and by interviewing process. The study was performed on 30 hatches of Proshika Poultry and Hatchery and it reveals that among the setting eggs. The average hatchability percentage of Dhaka and Chittagong were 79.86% and 83.11% respectively. And the capacities of hatchers were 14850 and 19200 respectivelyItem A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF DIFFERENT BULL SEMEN(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2009-05) Khatun, Mst. MahfuzaThe experiment was conducted at Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm, Savar, Dhaka on 97 breeding bulls for a period 90 days from February to April 2009 to find out the physical and chemical properties of different bull semen. Out of total 97 breeding bulls, 3 were pure Friesian (100%), 22 were Local×Friesian (50%), 26 were Local×Friesian (75%), 18 were Sahiwal×Friesian, 13 were Sahiwal, 4 were Local×Friesian×Sahiwal×Friesian, 2 were Red Chittagong and 9 were local breed. The semen of different crossbred and local breed was examined for ejaculate volume, color, density, PH, mass movement, motility percent, motility percent before freezing and motility percent after freezing. It was observed that the maximum average ejaculate was obtained from Sahiwal×Friesian (SL×F) and the mean value was 12.9 ml. However, the minimum average ejaculate was obtained from Local×Friesian×Friesian× Local× Friesian (L×F×F×L×F) and the mean value was 7.4 ml. The maximum average density was obtained from Local (L) 1858.4 (million/ml). The minimum average density was obtained from Local× Friesian×Local×Friesian×Friesian (L×F×L×F×F) and the mean value was 1286.6 (million/ml). The maximum average PH was obtained from 3 times Local×Friesian×Friesian (L×F)3×F and the mean value was 6.5. However, the minimum average PH was obtained from the remaining bulls and the mean value was 6.4. The maximum average motility was obtained from Local (L) and the mean value was 68.8%. However, the minimum average motility was obtained from Local×Friesian×Friesian (L×F×F) and the mean value was 63.7%. The maximum average motility before freezing was obtained from 3 times Loca×Friesian×Friesian (L×F)3×F as well as in case of Local (L) and the mean value was 63.6%. However the minimum average motility before freezing was obtained from two times Local×Friesian (L×F)2 and the mean value was 60.0%. The maximum average motility after freezing was obtained from Sahiwal×Sahiwal (SL×SL) and the mean value was 51.2%. The minimum average motility after freezing was obtained from Local (L) and the mean value was 46.6%.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON PRODUCTIVE AND REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCES OF LOCAL X FRIESIAN CROSSBRED COWS BETWEEN CENTRAL CATTLE BREEDING & DAIRY FARM, SAVAR AND SUPER DAIRY FARM, CHITTAGONG.(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2009-04) Das, Shetu BhusanThe study was conducted on Central Cattle Breeding & Dairy Farm (CCBDF), Savar and Super Dairy Farm (SDF), Chittagong to compare the productive and reproductive performance of Local x Friesian crossbred cows under two different farm conditions. Age at first calving, Days open, gestation period, Calving interval and number of services per conception were considered as reproductive parameters whereas average daily milk yield and lactation length considered as productive parameters. In CCBDF, average age at first calving of Local x Friesian cows was 47.86 13.69 months whereas in SDF it was 38.29 5.21 months. The average days open in CCBDF and SDF were 301 114 days and 149 41 days respectively. Average gestation period in CCBDF was 277.52 7.72 days and in SDF 279.51 7.82 days. Average calving interval in CCBDF and SDF were 614 146 days and 431 62 days respectively. Average No. of services per conception in CCBDF was 1.70 0.62 Whereas in SDF 2.13 0.89. Average daily milk yield per cow in CCBDF 4.48 0.86 Ltr. whereas in SDF it was 8.62 2.88 Ltr. Average lactation length in CCBDF and SDF Were 319.53 96.09 days and 303.17 26.09 days respectively. So, it is evident that, Local x Friesian herd of super Dairy Farm performs better than that of CCBDF, Savar.Item A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF BROILER USING MAIZE AND PALM OIL(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2012-05) Rahman Sarker, HafizurThe study was conducted to observe the productive performance of broiler replacing vegetable oil by maize in different level. The experiment was designed by two treatment groups and each treatment having three replications consist of 25 birds in each replication. Two rations were formulated using locally available ingredients where T0 was formulated with maize (without oils) and T1 with palm oil (oil group). The body weight of broiler feeding maize at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th weeks are 117.67 g, 271 g, 631.17 g, 1055.28 g and 1572.81 g while feeding palm oil these are 120.43, 267.84, 641.00, 1072.99 and 1587.69 which differ significantly (P<0.01) with former to later one. The weekly average feed intake of broiler with maize from 1st week of to 5th week are 79.46 g, 221.51 g, 553.04 g, 750.20 g and 1079.00 g differed significantly (P<0.01) with feeding palm oil which are 81.58 g, 222.56 g, 635.86 g, 750.59 g and 1094.67 g. Similarly the FCR of feeding maize birds are 1.10, 1.13, 1.43, 1.45 and 1.76 while birds with feeding palm oil are 1.05, 1.09, 1.37, 1.37 and 1.66 which also significantly (P<0.01) varied. Average mortality rate was 1% for T0, T1 group respectively. It is revealed that the performance of broiler feeding palm oil is significantly better than maize feeding birds. So, it may be concluded that the commercial rearing of broiler feeding palm oil is more profitable than without oil.Item A COMPERATIVE STUDY ON LAYER FEEDS OF AFAQAL AND CP(A Production Report Submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE Faculty of Veterinary Medicine CHITTAGONG VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY, KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG., 2015-12) Hossion, Md. ZakariaFeed represents the major cost of poultry production, constituting up to 70 percent of the total cost. Of total feed cost, about 95 percent is used to meet energy and protein requirements, about 3 to 4 percent for major mineral, trace mineral and vitamin requirements, and 1 to 2 percent for various feed additives. Poultry diets are formulated from a mixture of ingredients, including cereal grains, cereal by-products, fats, plant protein sources, animal byproducts, vitamin and mineral supplements, crystalline amino acids and feed additives. These are assembled on a least-cost basis, taking into consideration their nutrient contents as well as their unit prices. As the quality of feed is one of the main determinant factors in successful poultry farming; an attempt was made to compare the quality of commercial layer feeds to identify the different proximate component. For this two feed samples were collected from two specific places. CP feed sample was collected from a nearby shop of Chittagong metropolitan area and the other feed sample was collected from Animal Feed Analytical and Quality assurance Laboratory (AFAQAL) of VC&RI, Namakkal, Tamilnadu, India. The CP feed are commercially available in Bangladesh. Proximate analysis was done to see the nutritive values. Those values were then compared with the standard value. Finally both data of proximate analysis & economic one were compiled by using Microsoft Excel 2007 (Chi-square test by using SPSS 16.0). The proximate analysis of two feeds are showed the following ranges of nutrient compositions DM (88-90)%, Moisture (10.5-11.5)%, CP (16-18)%, CF (5-6)%, EE (3-4)%, Ash (6-6.6)%, NFE (53.2-55.05)%, ME (2666-2685) Kcal/kg. From this experiment, it was observed that the nutritive value of AFAQAL feed is comparatively better than CP feed as the nutritive values are very close to the specified values.Item A cross sectional study on beef fattening programme conducted in selected areas of Bangladesh(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, 2022-08) Alam, MahafuzulThe experiment was conducted to investigate the livelihood improvement of farmers through cattle fattening in six selected areas named Saidpur, Kishorgonj and Nilphamary Sadar Upazilla under the district of Nilphamary, Madhukhali and Faridpur Sadar under the district of Faridpur and last one is Daulodia Upazilla under the district of Rajbari of Bangladesh. Total 60 respondents consisting male and female were randomly interviewed those are involved in cattle fattening. An open and close ended questionnaire was used for collecting the data through face to face interview. I collected the data regarding socio- economic status of the beef cattle owner, general characteristics of the fattened cattle, their feeding and health management. The maximum number of beef fattened farmer is male (55%) and female beef fattened owner is 45%. The highest number of farmers involved in beef fattening are between 36-40 years which is 26.67 percent. Among the respondents, 60% owner completed their primary education whereas only 1.67 percent were post-graduated. About 50.82 percent farmer had taken training on beef fattening and rest of the portion did not have any training on. Local breed those were uncastrated, between 2.1-2.5 years old and reddish color were predominantly selected for fattening programme. Maximum beef cattle (89 percent) were vaccinated whereas 11 percent were not vaccinated. Among four types of commonly used vaccines, FMD vaccine was mostly given to all of the beef cattle. Most of the farmers offered their beef cattle 1-5 kg green roughage (44%). Almost 49% farmer did not give readymade feed but they offer homemade feed and commonly used feed ingredients was wheat, wheat bran, rice polish. Nobody used steroids drug but most of them used feed supplements such as zinc, aminovit, liver tonic, DCP and multivitamin. Around 25% cattle fed UMS but farmer didn’t supply UTS and UMMB. Most of the beef cattle were purchased from local market (78%) and some of the farmers selected beef cattle from own farm (22%). The highest number of beef cattle selling through local market and others through online, middle man and directly from farm. Most of the fattened cattle (52%) was sold between 100000 to 200000 taka which makes the owner profitable. Therefore, beef fattening programme can be a profitable business in Bangladesh.Item A PRODUCTION REPORT ON CONTRIBUTION OF LIVESTOCK ON NATIONAL ECONOMY OF BANGLADESH AND ITS PROBLEM & PROSPECTS(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal |Sciences University, 2010-04)Item A Production Report on Influence of Transportation Stress in Broiler(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2017-11) Sahabuddin, Md.Transportation stress is a burning issue of modern time. A field study was conducted in broiler to evaluate the stressor as journey time, stocking density, lairage time that cause stress during broiler transportation. Two flocks having 795 and 1000 broilers were weighted to detect body weight loss and examined to detect the different types of injuries that might cause stress in broiler. Injuries during transportation were identified by visual observation and palpation. The observed parameters were rough handling during loading and unloading, less space allowance in crates, ambient temperature, feed withdrawal time, transport and time of distance, mortality rate, loss of body weight & struck of welfare. For identification of risk factors those farm chickens were followed up during transportation from farm to market for sale. The data of different type of injuries (e.g. dislocation of wing, dislocation of leg, laceration of wing & leg) collected. Results with respect to the frequency of weight loss, dislocation of wing, dislocation of leg, laceration of wing & leg were, were approximately 7%, 14.5%, 12.3%, 5.3% & 2.2%, respectively. On the other hand, mortality percentage of adult chicken was found 0.17%. From these findings it can be concluded that chicken are facing a great number of serious injuries during transportation due to long journey time, stocking density that affect mortality rate and production of birds.Item A production report on investigation of Beef quality from super shop and retail market in Chattogram, Bangladesh(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2021-11) Faroque, Md. Omar10 beef samples were collected from super shops and retail markets in Chattogram, Bangladesh to investigate hygienic measurement of beef. From these 10 samples of beef we estimate pH, Water Holding Capacity(WHC), Extract Release Volume(ERV). For these purposes, we measure pH by pH meter( ORION STAR A211 model,made in Indonesia ), WHC by compression method and ERV through filter paper. The pH range is between 5.38 - 6.42. The average pH is 5.69. The range of water holding capacity is between 3.46 - 21.63 cm square .The average value of WHC is 9.08 cm square. The range of minimum and maximum value of Extract release volume is 15 - 26 ml . The average value of Extract release volume is 20.95 ml. All the data analysed by Excel.Item A production report on Management system of backyard pigeon farming in the town of Mymensingh(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, 2020-09) Shariar, SakibThe survey was conducted in upazila sadar, Mymensingh from October 2019 to January 2020, to study the status of backyard pigeon farming in the town area. Data were collected from 16 backyard pigeon farms. The average number of squab (35%) was 16, with an average of 45 total birds for each farm. Most of the farmers (87.5%) rear pigeons in small scale scavenging system. Vaccination was practised in 50% of the farms and regular de-worming was done in 37.5% of the farms under study. Moderate biosecurity protocol was maintained in 62.5% of the farms.
