Item De-noising of Biomedical Signals (ECG and EEG)(East West University, 8/28/2017) Chowdhury, Nowshin; Islam, FarihaAdaptive digital filter is actually an FIR or IIR filter where the coefficients of the filter are adjusted with the variation of input signal so that the difference between the noisy signal and the noise becomes minimum. In this project work we consider two biomedical signals ECG (electrocardiogram) and EEG (electroencephalogram) as the input signal of the adaptive filter provided they are contaminated by random noise. LMS (least mean square) algorithm is used to adjust the filter coefficients to de-noise both types of signal. The original signal, noisy signal, de-noised signal and error are shown graphically.Item Study on Routing Protocols in Wireless Ad-HOC Networks(East West University, 7/31/2017) Mim, Nawshin Rahman; Mostafa, MoniraIn computer communications Ad-hoc network is a great concept. A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is an autonomous system of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. Mobile ad hoc networks are networks without fixed infrastructure. The mobile nodes perform both as a host and a router forwarding packets to other nodes. Ad-hoc networks has several characteristics which imposes new demands on routing protocols. The most important character is dynamic topology, which is a consequence of node mobility. Nodes can change position quite frequently which means that we need a routing protocol which adapts topology changes quickly. The nodes in adhoc networks can consists of laptops and personal digital assistance and other often very limited in resources such as CPU capacity, storage capacity ,battery power and bandwidth. This means that routing protocol should try to minimize control traffic, such as periodic updates messages. Instead the routing protocol should be reactive, thus only calculate routes upon a receiving update requests. Because of the nature of ad hoc networks, there are special demands for ad hoc routing protocols. The performance of MANET is related to the efficiency of the routing protocols in adapting to frequently changing network topology and link status. This thesis paper provides the different categories of routing protocols: Destination-sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), Ad-hoc Ondemand Distance Vector (AODV) and Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) and the causes of packet losses and their solutions.Item Name based Networking Architecture for IoT Devices(East West University, 8/27/2017) Mahmud, RifatUnlike the interaction methods between human and electronic devices, the devices will be the main users in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. Therefore, device-to-device (D2D) communication is expected to be an intrinsic part of the IoT arena. As expected, Device-to-Device (D2D) communication can enhance the network capacity and spectrum efficiency while sharing different genres of resources. The ability to gather relevant information in real time is the only key to leveraging the value of the IoT as such information will be transformed into intelligence, which will facilitate the creation of an intelligent environment. To make this environment more user-friendly and sustainable, the naming based scheme is proposed and probable outcomes are discussed. Ultimately, the quality of IoT promotes sharing of the infinite power with the users to communicate in-between and lead to a sustainable solution of D2D infrastructures. Considering the importance of the unique hierarchy of name based solution for D2D communication, we propose a study for standardization of work in the field of name based networking architecture for IoT devices.Item Developing a GUI using MATLAB in Detecting Brain Stroke from Ultrasonic Data.(East West University, 7/27/2017) Ashrafullah, MD.; Sultana, NasrinBrain is the main part of our body and brain stroke is severe in this day. In this research, we have implemented a method and design a graphical user interface (GUI) using MATLAB in detecting brain stroke from ultrasonic data. The ultrasonic data is chosen as it is not harmful as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). As it is known to us that carotid artery is the main path to flow the blood from heart to brain in our body. So the shrink of the wall of carotid artery through fat, cholesterol etc. is cause to change the normal level of ultrasonic velocity. In determining brain stroke through ultrasound knowledge, it is compulsory to acquire Doppler ultrasonic data from carotid artery. First, the ultrasonic displacement data obtained from the carotid artery is converted to velocity, and then the velocity data of several patients is loaded in the GUI which is developed through MATLAB. The loaded data will be accumulated in a folder. The standard velocity for the normal, abnormal and serious patients is then compared with the obtained patient ultrasonic velocity data through the GUI designed for this research. From the comparison it is possible to determine the patient’s condition whether he/she has the probability of brain stroke or not. The results show better than other methods and it is less harmful for the body.Item IOT Based Switching and Data Observation for Home Appliance(East West University, 8/27/2017) Maowa, Jannatul; Hasan, Md. MehediThe Internet of things (IoT) is the inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity which enable these objects to collect and exchange data. In this project, IoT based switching and data observation for home appliances as the topic since every device can be controlled from any position in the presence of internet. Again, if anyone wants to observe the data of the devices related to activation of every instance then s/he can also use this integrated device. In this project ESP8086 driver is used as the controller of the whole device as control board, magnetic relay as switch, and ESP Wi-Fi module for interfacing device with Wi-Fi. A software named as thinger.io is also developed for the betterment and ease of communication with cloud server and ESP driver module. By this software anyone can control the device and also observe data of each and every moment, if s/he away from room. It can also show us the rate of darkness as well as temperature in the room through LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) & Thirstier, whose functionality rely on light intensity & temperature respectively. The emergency switch on/off can be performed in that case. The goal of this project is to provide a low-cost and flexible solution to control and monitor home appliances. The extension cannot be completed due to the limitation of resources& enough time.Item Enhancement of Conversion Efficiency of GaAs/InAs p-i-n Solar Cell Embedding Quantum Dot(East West University, 8/23/2017) Sakib, Shadman; Prova, Asma SadiaA high efficiency GaAs/InAs quantum dot (QD) solar cell is designed embedding InAs QD in as an intrinsic layer. Embedded QD boost the efficiency of the solar cell. Without QD we achieve 14.1% efficiency of the GaAs Solar cell. When embedding 15 layers of InAs QDs in the intrinsic layer, at AM1.5 solar radiations, the proposed cell structure had a Voc of 1.25 V, Jsc of 32.9073 mA.cm-2, a maximum power is 36.97mW.cm-2 and a fill factor of 89.9%, corresponding to an overall efficiency of 36.97%. Therefore, the positive effects of embedded quantum dots are proved to be helpful in improving solar cell's performance.Item Verbal Autopsy in Bangladesh(East West University, 7/9/2017) Hassan, MehediVerbal autopsy (VA) is a method of determining individuals’ causes of death and cause-specific mortality fractions in populations without a complete vital registration system. In such areas the majority of deaths occur outside hospitals and are not recorded. Verbal autopsy is very helpful to determine probable causes of death for the area where, there is no formal medical attention given. It is a method of gathering health information about a deceased individual to determine his or her cause of death. Verbal autopsies symptoms data reported by a family member or paid helper who regularly looks after a patient along with the cause of death are collected from a medical facility, and the cause-of-death distribution is estimated in the population where only symptom data are available. This paper develops a new database about verbal autopsy in Bangladesh to clarify cause of death using information acquired through VA. My database shares some symptom information about some people to estimate the reasons of death.Item Broadcast Technology Independent Television Pvt. This internship program helped me to learn about the practical scenario of a Television station. This report has been presented based on my observation and experience gathered from the company. I attend internship on Broadcast Technology (01-01-2017 to 31-03-2017). Now-a-days Satellite TV is being considered with utmost significance as it has been contributing to every sector of our society. Certain differences have been brought to our life with a wide array of program ensuring several advantages to our day to day life. Now TV programs, broadcasted both in analog and digital format possessing higher quality of sound and picture, can entertain anyone from anywhere based on the availability of Satellite TV connection. It has been a great opportunity for me to gather a complete hand on experience on all the sections of Satellite TV channel during my internship in ITV and this report has been prepared based on the knowledge that I achieved during my working period. The complete illustration of Earth Station and Live Transmission process of ITV channel has been signified here as the core parts of my internship paper.Item Rectangular Microstrip Antenna For WIFI Communications Around 2.4 GHz(East West University, 8/24/2017) Karim, Md. Zobayer; Hasan, Md NaimulAn integrated directional patch antenna uses multiple patch radiating elements to control the direction of a beam of radio frequency energy (RF) over a large scan volume. The antenna includes a ground plane element and a first dielectric planar member placed on a major surface of the ground plane element. A plurality of first patch radiator elements is arranged on a surface of the first dielectric member remote from the ground plane element. A second dielectric planar member is placed on first patch radiator elements, and a plurality of second patch radiator elements arranged on a surface of the second dielectric member remote from the first patch radiator elements. First regions are formed in the dielectric planar member that have a first dielectric constant and are separated from each other by second regions that have a dielectric constant different from the first dielectric constant to effectively prevent surface wave energy from propagating in the first dielectric planar member, thereby increasing the scan volume of the antenna.Item Performance Analysis of BPSK and QPSK Under Rayleigh Fading Channel(East West University, 8/23/2017) Hasan, MD Momen; Sarker, Sudip; Alam, AshrafulA well-defined characterization of the distortions in the wireless signal after affected by noise is analyzed to improve channel estimation and increase detection robustness. The Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of the wireless signal under Rayleigh fading channel has been examined. Simulations confirmed the comparison of BER curves for Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Quadrature Phase Shift keying (QPSK) from Adaptive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel model
