A Performance Study of Shear Wall for Different Positions in Building Plan Configuration.
(Daffodil International University, 2021-01-31) Miah, Md. Kaium; Rana, Md. Masud; Hosen, Md. Bayezid
The consequences of lateral loads like earthquake loads, wind loads and blast forces are the highest considerations subject now a days. Provide enough strength and stability in counter to the lateral loads is one of the most difficult challenges faced by designers. To safeguard the structure against lateral loads provides shear wall in the structures as counteract object of lateral forces. The present papers describes the performance of shear wall for different positions in building plan configuration. The design and analysis of the building with RCC shear wall is carried out using software ETABS. Earthquake load and the various parameters like response factor, reduction factor, importance factor and Zone factor are taken from BNBC 2020. The target of this thesis is to determine the appropriate positions of shear wall in the building to get better strength and stability of the structure. To achieve the goal in four places were analyzed. Therefore, one model without shear wall and other three with shear walls in different positions. There are 10 storied building has been considered. Effects of varying positions of shear walls and comparison of the results of displacements, drift and rebar percentages is presented. Shear wall structure is an efficient seismic resistance structural system. Shear wall give stiffness & strength laterally and can easily control horizontal displacement. Shear wall plays an important role when two or more walls are attached. The results are optimal for seriously considering all of the factors.

Analytical Approach for Modeling and Simulation of Photonic Crystal Fiber Based on Low Effective Material Loss
(Springer, 2023-03-06) Rahman, Md. Habibur; Rana, Md. Masud; Hossain, Md. Selim; Sen, Shuvo; Al‑Amin, Md.
COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software has been used to create a hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) with hexagonal cladding and a rotating hexa elliptical shape core. The hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) fiber is built on five layers of circular air holes, and it is suitable for telecommunication applications especially optical fiber communication in the terahertz (THz) frequency range. The hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) is designed to have an ultra-low effective material loss (EML), a higher core power fraction, a bigger effective area, and reduced confinement loss. The smallest effective material loss from the proposed hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) is 0.00689 cm−1, with a better core power fraction of 82%, less confinement loss of 3.45 × 10–14 cm−1 and a better effective area of 3.65 × 10–4 m2 is achieved at one terahertz (THz) waveguide region. Furthermore, using the features of the V-Parameter, our developed hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) fiber reveals an optical waveguide with one mode throughout a frequency range of terahertz (THz) wave area. So, it has been said that our hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (H-PCF) structure will be highly beneficial for optical fiber communications applications in the THz frequency range.

Bangladeshi Indigenous Fish Classification Using Convolutional Neural Networks
(2021 International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT), IEEE, 2021-07-21) Dey, Krishno; Hassan, Md. Mustahid; Rana, Md. Masud; Hena, Mst. Hasna
Fish is an important part of Bangladeshi culture and cuisine. Fish is the main and sometimes the only source of protein in the rural household of Bangladesh. Moreover, thousands of peoples of Bangladesh are directly and indirectly dependent on the fish industry. With time many traditional indigenous Bangladeshi fish has lost their existence and many of them are in danger of losing their existence. Furthermore, the young generation of Bangladesh is unable to recognize these traditional indigenous fishes besides they are also missing out on the protein and nutrition provided by these indigenous fishes. Hence an automatic fish classification system can help us not only to recognize traditional fishes but also in the production and preservation of these indigenous fishes. So, in this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) based automatic fish classification system. In this paper, we mainly focus on the classification of traditional indigenous fishes of Bangladesh. We used a dataset of eight classes of indigenous fish which contains 8000 images after performing 8 types of augmentation methods. We fed our data to VGG16, Inception V3, Mobile Net pre-train models with slight modification in the output layer. We also applied this dataset to a 5 layers CNN model which we name Fishnet, where convolutional layers of the CNN model uses "Adam optimizer", "ReLU" and the "SoftMax" activation function. Fishnet surpasses VGG16 in all the performance measures and goes toe to toe with InceptionV3 and Mobile Net models. Finally, we see all the models provide excellent performance measures.

(Scopus, 2024-06-24) Mondal;, Pronoy Kumar; Khan;, Sadman Sadik; Rana, Md. Masud; Ramit, Shahriar Sultan; Sattar;, Abdus; Rahman, Md. Sadekur
The rapid development of digital stages has greatly compounded the dispersal of untrue data, dissolving certainty and judgment in society, especially among the Bengalispeaking community. Our ponder addresses this critical issue by presenting an interesting strategy that utilizes a profound learning innovation, particularly the Gated Repetitive Unit (GRU), to recognize fake news within the Bangla dialect. The strategy of our proposed work incorporates intensive information preprocessing, which includes lemmatization, tokenization, and tending to course awkward nature by oversampling. This comes about in a dataset containing 58,478 passages. We appreciate the creation of a demonstration based on GRU (Gated Repetitive Unit) that illustrates remarkable execution with a noteworthy precision rate of 94%. This ponder gives an intensive clarification of the methods included in planning the information, selecting the show, preparing it, and assessing its execution. The performance of the model is investigated by reliable metrics like precision, recall, F1 score, and accuracy. The commitment of the work incorporates making a huge fake news dataset in Bangla and a demonstration that has outperformed other Bangla fake news location models.

Development of a Low-cost Real-time Bioelectrical Signal Acquisition Module
(2020 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0 (STI) , IEEE, 2021-02-16) Kamal, Md. Shah; Efaz, Erteza Tawsif; Alam, Md. Fakhrul; Rana, Md. Masud; Sakib, Syed Nazmus; Islam, Shekh M. M.
Human Machine Interface (HMI) is gaining attention in the healthcare field and the acquisition of different bioelectrical signals simultaneously through one portable system remains still under active investigations, which can help further advancement of HMI. In this paper, we developed a system that can capture different respiratory signals (e.g. Electrocardiogram (ECG), Electromyogram (EMG) and Electrooculogram (EOG)) by utilizing low-cost hardware facilities in developing countries. The designed system was tested by capturing signals from human skin surfaces using electrodes. While developing such a system, we procured these signals by placing disposable skin surface electrodes on the desired positions of the body, employing customized electronic hardware. For computer interfacing and signal analysis, Arduino Uno was used in terms of Analog to Digital Conversion (ADC), whereas, a model developed in MATLAB Simulink for envisioning and saving the data in actual time. Our Simulink model designed using low-pass filters through the filter design toolbox selected different cut-off frequencies considering various bio-signals. Furthermore, a program is developed to store the signal data in MATLAB workspace for performing specific analyses. The developed prototype tested on human subjects proved to be efficient to integrate into assistive technologies.

DEVELOPMENT OF FISH FLESH POWDER AND POWDER-BASED COOKIES AND SNACKS FROM PANGUS, SILVER CARP, TILAPIA AND TUNA FISH (PATENT NO: IPC: A23L 17/00, 1006455, 19/2020)
(Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), 2022) Rana, Md. Masud; Habib, Kazi Ahsan
Abstract Generally, the cookies and snacks available in the market are made of flour, leavener, salt, sugar, butter, egg, oil and some other extra added flavor in some special case. White, processed flour and more starch in the regular diet increase blood sugar, which in turn puts unnecessary stress on the liver. Fish consumption helps to reduce coronary heart disease incidence and mortality due to having beneficial effects omega-3 PUFA, EPA & DHA. Increased protein intake also balances blood sugar and insulin, reducing cravings and detoxing the liver. Therefore, fish protein-based food is relatively nutritious and safer than carbohydrates for human body. A method was developed for producing powder from fish having protein content ranged between 80-90% (dry basis). Then, the value-added fish cookies and snacks (viz. biscuit, chanachur & chips) were made from fish powder containing 30-40% protein. Major portion of fats were removed from fish flesh which protects the products from fat oxidation. Bacterial population of the developed products were found ranged between 1.3x l 03 to 2.4x 103 CFU/gm. The present invention reveals that if we can add the fish protein to produce the cookies and snacks like biscuits, chanachur and chips it would be safer for health with helping in balancing blood sugar and detoxing the liver. Keywords: fish flesh powder, cookies, nutritious, low-cost, value addition

    FIBER OPTIC COMMUNICATION LINK DESIGN
(Daffodil International University, 2008-07-01) Rana, Md. Masud; Islam, Md. Saiful
In all-optical networks, traffic is carried end-to-end in the optical domain, without any intermediate optical-electrical-optical conversion. The promise of such networks is the elimination of a significant amount of electronic equipment, as well as added capabilities, such as the ability to transport any type of data format through the network. Fiber optic communications has been growing at a phenomenal pace over the past twenty years, so rapidly, in fact, that its impact is increasingly felt in nearly all aspects of communications technology. The design of such a system involves many aspects such as the type of source to be used (LED, LASER), the kind of fiber to be employed (multimode or single mode), and the detector (PIN or APD). This work emphasizes the basic requirements and design approaches of an optical fiber communication link. For designing such system the main concern is the optimization of cost, maximum link length and stability of performance characteristics. For a given bit rate, link length and typical bit error rate, the cost effective design is chosen here with software implementation.
