Abstract

The internship report investigates the information management and data-recording practices at R.N Enterprise, a first-class construction company based in Bangladesh, with a focus on finding out the operational inefficiencies that arise from their existing manual record-keeping systems. The report is based on the internship experience with R.N Enterprise, where I observed their reliance on manual logs, handwritten invoices, vouchers and Excel data entry across project sites and the corporate office. These methods were found to be time inefficient, more prone to human errors along with data inconsistency and fraud. To highlight these issues, the study suggests a solution of Management Information System (MIS)/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) framework specially designed for construction companies like R.N Enterprise to integrate site operations, procurement and management practices and accounting recordkeeping into a centralized system. The study used surveys from real employees, process observations and relevant cases to demonstrate how an integrated system could enhance the operational efficiencies and process development at R.N Enterprise.
