The present report is on the talent acquisition practices within the leather industry in Bangladesh with the case study of STEP Footwear and Accessories Ltd. Leather, which is the second largest export business in the country after the RMG, is a very important industry in terms of economic development and job creation. During my internship at STEP, I realized how the company handles hiring, selection, orientation and workforce planning in a systematic manner. STEP uses a combination of the contemporary sourcing method, structured interview, and onboard approaches to recruit and keep the talent and a robust employer brand as a Made in Bangladesh company. In spite of its weaknesses like dependency on imported materials, and underdeveloped tools to perform advanced selection, STEP focuses on cultural fit, candidate experience, and employee involvement. My experience was an eye opener as it taught me some of the practical HR processes which not only guarantee organizational growth but also enhance the competitive stance of Bangladesh within the international footwear industry.
