| dc.description.abstract | Peste des petits ruminants is an acute, highly contagious, notifiable and economically important transboundary viral diseases of small ruminants specially goat. The present study was conducted at SAARC Regional Leading Diagnostic Laboratory of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, Savar, Dhaka for a period of 6 months from June to November 2017. The 7 study was performed to investigate the seroprevalence Peste des petits ruminants in goats in khulna district of Bangladesh by Competitive-ELISA method from blood. A total of 92 blood samples were collected and serum was separated and stored at -200C until use. The overall seroprevalence of Peste des petits ruminants in goat was 58.69%. The seroprevalence was higher in male goats 61.01% than female 54.54%. Jamunapari breed showed highest seropositive 64.70% than Black Bengal goats 55.17%. According to the age group, seroprevalence of Peste des petits ruminants was higher 66.66% in younger (0-6 months) than adult goats. On location basis Peste des petits ruminants was highest seropositive at batiaghata upazila 70.83% followed by rupsha 62.5%, dumuria 56.52% and lowest at terokhada upazila 38.09%. In statistical analysis all the variation in age, sex, breed and location was not statistically significant (P>0.05). From the research it could be inferred that Peste des petits ruminants is an emerging disease that attributed greater PPRV antibody positivity in field samples from goats. | |
