Abstract

People of all age groups around the world participate in various forms of games and activities, including gambling, for entertainment. However, the Constitution of Bangladesh, through its Fundamental Principles of State Policy, expresses a clear intent to eliminate gambling. In addition to the Constitution, several secondary laws are in place to regulate and penalize gambling activities. This study aims to assess the current state of gambling in Bangladesh, examine the existing legal framework, evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of these laws, and offer recommendations for addressing key issues. The research has identified several legal challenges in regulating gambling in the country. It concludes by recommending a coordinated response involving legislative reform, executive enforcement, and judicial oversight to better control and prevent this unlawful practice.
