Abstract

In this internship report, I am going to provide an analytical report on my three months teaching experience in the English Therapy, a privately-operated spoken English learning platform focusing on communicative competence, pronunciation accuracy and task-based language acquisition. This report aims to investigate the functioning of the different methods- Direct Method (DM), Audio Lingual Method (ALM), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in a real-life instructional scenario. In this platform all these techniques are referred to as ETM (English Therapy Method). This report is one that is very critical in terms of the dynamics in the classroom, teaching strategies, student performance, and institutional practices. The results reveal that communicative and structural approach together form a whole learning experience among adult ESL students. The report ends with the professional reflection and pedagogical suggestions on improving the quality of instruction.
