Abstract
The present report investigates the effect of digital and paperless banking on the financial performance of Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), with a specific focus on the Retail and SME Banking Division of the Jashim Uddin Road Branch. The study will be conducted as a three-month internship research aimed at analyzing the impact (or lack there of) of the adoption of EBL to digital platforms on the efficiency of operations, customer satisfaction, and cost reduction. The main conclusions show that paperless systems have been able to make the transactions process significantly more efficient, minimize the number of manual errors, and faster service delivery. Increases in the resource allocation and data management are also noted in the report and help to strengthen the financial performance. Despite the fact that some of the problems, like integrating systems and adapting it to the customers, remain, the general movement towards the digital form of banking has placed EBL in a position of sustainable growth and competitive edge. The discussion highlights the need to keep on innovating and investing in technology in order to maintain the pace in the changing financial environment.
