Abstract

This internship report presents my three-months internship journey as a desk reporter at the daily sun, a prominent English language daily newspaper in Bangladesh. I completed this professional placement to fulfill the requirement of my final year academic journey as a student of the department of Journalism Media and Communication at daffodil international university, using it as a great opportunity to fill the gap between academic theory and professional experiences. This paper provides an overview of the Daily Sun’s organizational and editorial structure and I detailed my weekly activities on the editorial desk. My responsibilities heavily focused on the core of journalism functions, including writing hard and soft news, checking facts, creating headlines and thumbnails, presenting news under strict deadline. Through the journey I developed important professional skills such as news and feature writing, voice-over delivery, collecting related footage, on air presentation, checking facts and analyzing data.
