Abstract
This Internship report is a comprehensive assessment of the database management process and data
integrity controls of Delta Life Insurance Company Limited, based on a three-month internship with the
company‟s IT department. The internship was a requirement for a Bachelor of Business Administration
(BBA) degree from BRAC University, and it was a valuable learning experience to apply my academic
knowledge into practice.
During the internship, I performed technical and non-technical tasks such as recording purchase
requisition information and data entry into the company's inventory software. These contributions assisted
in precise inventory levels, effective purchasing cycles and cost control. I have gained practical
experience in procurement and tracing inventories and understanding of the company's practice within the
database and an overall understanding of the insurance business.
While Delta Life has an "AAA" financial health rating and is having consistent growth in net premium,
the report does identify concerning trends including the reduction of cash and cash equivalents and life
funds. The report identifies internal concerns and recommends significant improvements including
strengthening system integration to prevent redundancy, use of automated validation rules and frequent
disaster recovery tests. It also recommends maintaining stronger audit trials and monitoring users to
detect unauthorized activities.
