The textile industry stands at the precipice of a significant transformation, spurred by an escalating demand for sustainable practices. This research delves into the potential of Moringa leaf extract as a natural dye for the dyeing of 100% cotton knitwear, with a meticulous examination of diverse mordanting methodologies. The overarching objective is to propel the evolution of eco-conscious dyeing processes within the textile domain. The research methodology encompasses a multifaceted approach, commencing with the extraction of dye from Moringa leaves. Subsequently, this extract is applied to cotton knit fabrics employing an array of mordanting techniques. Central to this inquiry is the comprehensive evaluation of color fastness, vibrancy, and the ecological footprint associated with each mordanting agent. The investigation pivots around conducting comparative analyses to discern the most efficacious and sustainable combinations of Moringa leaf extract and mordants tailored for cotton knit textiles. By accentuating the diversification of mordanting approaches, this thesis endeavors to unveil optimal strategies for harnessing the potential of Moringa leaf extract as a natural dye. The ultimate goal transcends mere aesthetic enhancement, striving to engender a paradigm shift towards heightened sustainability. The insights gleaned from this research are poised to make meaningful contributions to the broader discourse on green and sustainable practices prevalent within the textile landscape. By furnishing a viable eco-friendly alternative for dyeing cotton knit fabrics, this study endeavors to carve a pathway towards a more environmentally conscious future for the textile industry. In essence, this research encapsulates a concerted effort to reconcile innovation with sustainability, epitomizing the ethos of responsible stewardship that is imperative for the longevity and vitality of our planet and its resources.
