The distinction between theoretical and practical knowledge in Summit Communications Limited's supply chain procurement procedure

Abstract

This report has been written in respect of my BUS400 course which corresponds to an internship as well. I did an internship at Summit Communications Limited. While I completed the course, my honorable supervisor Md. Hasan Maksud Chowdhury and honorable SComm senior manager have been observing me. In this case study, I have discussed various corporate aspects of SComm for an overall understanding of the company and its operations, starting from its organizational chart, mission, and vision statement to products and services. After that I have elaborated on the internship part in this report and discussed such aspects as key responsibilities, key learning, achievement and many others. The majority of the data in the internship experience section of this report was sourced from primary sources. Thus, through this report, I attempted to demonstrate the principles of Supply Chain Management on the ground. I have explained the procurement of SComm and the practical aspects of that procurement which are quite different from those that the theory describes. In this report, I have made out an attempt to present facts and figures hitherto the present state of the Bangladesh Telecom industry and the linkages of mobile operators with STL and SComm. Therefore, the major objective of this report is to assess critically the contribution of Summit Communications Limited towards the telecom sector and the function of the Supply Chain Management department.
