Abstract

An experiment was conducted on naturally occurring growth substances in aqueous extracts of some common fruit plant leaves viz., Mango (T2), Black berry (T3), Jack fruit (T4), Litchi (Ts), Wood apple (T¢), Indian dillenia (T7), Papaya (Ts) , Banana (To), Guava (Tio), Olive (T;1) for each vegetable crops such as Country bean, Yard long bean, Okra and Swamp cabbage with the attempt for chemical investigation on effective leave extract. The aqueous extracts of Indian dillenia (Dillenia indica) significantly increase germination of Country bean, Yard long bean bean, Okra and Swamp cabbage seeds compared with control. The highest germination percentage consequently 100%, 99%, 73% and 60% in Country bean, Yard long bean bean, Swamp cabbage and Okra in seeds treated with Indian dillenia compared with control. The effect of aqueous extract of Indian dillenia (Dillenia indica) showed the positive regulatory effect, i.e., increased growth of root and shoots length of Country bean, Yard long bean, Okra and Swamp cabbage seedlings. The Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) examination of chloroform extracts of Indian dillenia (Dillenia indica) was showed four distinct compounds at Hexane: Ethylacetate (9:1, v/v,). Crude compounds were purified and isolated by column chromatography. One of them initially was indicated steroid type compound by Liberman-Berchand reaction. 'H-NMR and IR study were indicated that the fractions were probably steroid and triterpinoid types compounds which were discussed in details in result and discussion.

Description

There are different types of plants such as, fruit trees, herbal plants, narcotic crops, flower plants, weeds, etc. Different types of naturally occurring organic and bioorganic compounds have been isolated from them. Most of them have effective medicinal, insecticidal, pesticidal or toxic value. Plants are the richest source of renewable bio-active organic chemicals. The total number of plant chemicals may exceed 400,000 out of these chemicals, secondary metabolites play a major role in the plants applied in agricultural field. Plant origined pesticides are generally safer than huse of conventionally used synthetic ones and in certain cases completely safe. For example, neemas a pesticidal plants, have been in the nature for million of years without any ill or adverse effect on ecosystem. In near future, biopesticides like neem are expected to be cheaper than the syntheticcountreparparts. Therefore, the poor and margin.
