Abstract

Liwayway Food Bangladesh Company Ltd., a subsidiary of the global Liwayway Group, operates in the fast-growing Bangladeshi snack food market under the brand name Oishi. Its supply chain management (SCM) system revolves around local manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and distribution to meet the high demand for processed snack foods. The company benefits from having a local production facility in Gazipur, which enhances control over quality, cost, and lead time. Raw materials are sourced both locally and through imports, which exposes the supply chain to risks such as foreign exchange fluctuations and customs delays. Distribution is managed through local networks, but infrastructure limitations and logistics inefficiencies present ongoing challenges. To strengthen its SCM, Liwayway Bangladesh should focus on improving supplier development, enhancing traceability, investing in digital supply chain technologies, and optimizing logistics operations. With its established brand and growing market, the company is well-positioned to turn its supply chain into a competitive advantage if it addresses these challenges proactively.
