3D Stylization of Real Footage Using Animation Principles and Visual Effects

Abstract

This project investigates the blending of real footage with animation principles and visual effects with 3D stylization in order to produce a visually appealing experience. The project demonstrates how a real video may be converted into a beautiful and stylistic story through computer generated imagery. The short film that accompanies this project, titled “Roofscape Runner,” captures the spirit of parkour's energy while offering a unique cinematic style by employing animation principles and effects. The project shows the seamless integration of live-action video with 3D features, blurring the boundaries between truth and CGI. My project attempts to push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking and computer animation via use of software manipulation techniques.
