.STUDY ON PRODUCTIVE AND REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF DIFFERENT DAIRY COWS UNDER FARM CONDITION IN SANTHIA UPZILLA, PABNA.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to monitor the comparative study on the reproductive and productive performance of different dairy cows under farm condition. For achieving this goal 100 dairy cows were selected from different place of Pabna district. The data collected from different place such as Talat, Karamja, Kasinatpur, Buyalmari bazaar, Purat area of Santhia, Pabna. The reproductive patterns and production parameters of about 100 cows of different breeds such as Local Non Descriptive, Local x Shahiwal, Local x Holstein Friesian, Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal were investigated and evaluated for reproductive and productive performance.The result showed that the average milk production of Local Non Descriptive, Local x Shahiwal, Local x Holstein Friesian, Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal are 2.54, 10.53, 6.32, 15.18 litter, respectively . The average age of puberty of Local Non Descriptive, Local x Shahiwal, Local x Holstein Friesian, Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal are 29.4, 25.0, 29.6, 26.36 month, respectively. The average gestation period of Local Non Descriptive, Local x Shahiwal, Local x Holstein Friesian, Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal are 280.24, 280.88, 281.76, 280.92 days, respectively.The average calving interval of Local Non Descriptive, Local x Shahiwal, Local x Holstein Friesian, Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal are 20.32, 17.16, 21.6, 16.64 month, respectively. Small to large range of variations in the value of other reproductive parameters were observed to exit among the breeds. The Holstein Friesian x Shahiwal crosses reproductive and productive performances are superior to other crosses. It was concluded that productive and reproductive performance of Local Non Descriptive cows were inferior to crossbred dairy cows.
