The orthogonal feed circuit and magic-T circuit is introduced to realize the proposed array antenna. The advantage of the magic-T circuit is the excellent isolation between the RF signal and the switching bias signal. The microwave integration technology is effectively employed to realize proposed linear polarization switchable array antenna. The proposed array antenna consists of four patch elements and 16 PIN diodes. In order to realize the ±45º polarization switching, four switching diodes are integrated with each patch elements. Using the ON/OFF condition of the diodes, the polarization axis can be easily switched to ±45º. The array antenna is realized in very simple and compact structure as all the antenna elements, feeding circuit and bias circuit are arranged on both sides of a dielectric substrate. The field distributions at the slot aperture have been derived assuming transverse electric excitation at the feed point and are found to support plane waves of both ordinary and extraordinary modes. Using the aperture fields as equivalent electric and magnetic current sheets the. fields outside the slot are derived in triple Fourier integral forms which are evaluated by residue theorem and saddle point method to obtain the radiation field. Numerical calculations of the time averaged Poynting vector were carried out for a half wavelength slot antenna and for plasma parameters corresponding to the region (a) of Clemmow- Mullali-Allis (CMA) diagram .. The radial component of the power flow vector normalized by the maximum power density for a half-wave slot in free-space is plotted to obtain the directional pattern. Plots of the directional pattern show that two strong pencil beams are radiated - one along the ground plane in a direction perpendicular to the slot axis and the other perpendicular to the plane of the slot. The radiation is dominated by the ordinary-mode power with a comparatively negligible extraodinary-mode power. With the static magnetic field in the yz-plane of an xyz-system, the inclination of the static magnetic field does not significantly influence the radiation pattern of an x-directed slot but has considerable effect for y and z-directed slots.In the latter cases. the beam maxima are also slightly tilted from the z and y-axes due to the lack of propagation symmetry in the yz-plane.Item Practices and challenges of alternative assessments at government primary schools in Bangladesh: teachers’ perceptions(BRAC University, 2021-09) Rahman, Marzia; Mim, Shamnaz ArifinBangladesh's existing summative assessment system, especially in primary education, does not support the students' holistic development. To overcome this barrier, the concept of alternative assessment came into place. However, teachers' perceptions are essential before any reform in education as they will be implementing that in the classroom. Therefore, this study intended to determine the perceptions of the government primary schools' teachers regarding the practices and challenges of alternative assessment. I chose the qualitative research method with purposive sampling for this study. I collected data from 18 teachers of 6 different schools in Dhaka city through individual phone interviews, focus group discussions, lesson planning, and student copies. The data showed that though the teachers are aware of the significance of alternative assessment, they do not have enough knowledge and face numerous challenges while implementing it. The reasons they mentioned are lack of teachers, teacher-student ratio, class duration, workload, parents' pressure for taking summative assessments, and lack of training. Thus, the study proposes for the life-long learning orientation of the teachers along with proper monitoring and evaluation of those learning, besides providing the teachers with adequate support and resources so that they can implement the alternative assessments in their classrooms.
