Unfortunately, there is a serious paucity of credible data on these issues that can be used for policy and programmatic development. This article presents a systematic review of studies on overweight and obesity to present a more accurate estimate by pooling results. Study design Systematic review. Methods The study systematically reviewed relevant literature published between 1998 and 2015 using predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist was used to identify relevant studies. Measures of heterogeneity and variability were calculated, and a random effect model was used to report pooled prevalence rates of overweight and obesity. Results The findings show that prevalence rates of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents varied widely from 1.0% to 20.6% and 0.3% to 25.6%, respectively. The pooled prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were 7.0% (95% confidence interval [CI] 5.0–10.0) and 6.0% (95% CI 4.0–8.0), respectively. The pooled prevalence rate of overweight increased substantially over the years, from 3.6% during 1998–2003 (95% CI 0.3–29.2) to 5.7% during 2004–2009 (95% CI 0.8–30.2) and 7.9% by 2010–2015 (95% CI 5.1–12.1). However, the pooled prevalence rate of obesity registered a sharp decline between 1998–2003 and 2004–2009 – from 9.7% (95% CI 5.7–16.2) to 2.0% (95% CI 0.3–11.1) – and subsequently increased significantly to 9.0% by 2010–2015 (95% CI 5.3–14.6). Shams Mansoor; Doza, Sajid Bin; Kibria, Naim AhmedDhaka City prospered and flourished over the years, along with the invasion of the Mughal and the British. Population increased, people arrived from villages to the city in search of better job and living, especially because Puran Dhaka was and is still one of the main trading zones of the city. Uncontrolled urbanization, changes in land use patterns, the growing density of new settlements, and modern transportation have brought about rapid transformation to the historic fabric of the Mughal and the British settlements. The Dhaka Central Jail, with architectural marks that reflects Mughal and British histories, has been chronically overcrowded. As the central jail has been shifted to Keraniganj, this has vacated a large area of land for alternative uses. As old part if Dhaka is highly lacking in breathing and recreational open space, this place would be the last opportunity for providing an open space and a civic space. A museum thus has been proposed to hold up the significant history and the value of the central jail area. In addition, this museum has be designed in such a way that serves as a breathing space for the city and responds to the social, environmental, economic and historic hunger of the human mind. The project also involves preservation of the existing museum, which includes the cell of the great leader like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman and the four of national leaders. Therefore, along with the historical importance the museum depicts the story of the jail life of the prisoners.Item General idea about investment of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited(BRAC University, 1/10/2013) Habib, Shahrin; Habib, AsphiaThis report is prepared as requirement of the internship of BBA program of BRAC University. The present report examines the ways the bank plays a role in the education process of its customers with regard to different financial instruments, banking services, and digital transactions. The department organizes personal interactions, workshops, and seminars as means of creating financial awareness and these activities, to a great extent, are responsible for customer's trust in banking products, customers' confidence in digital banking, and hence, the establishment of long-term banking relations. The research used a mixed-method research design that applied both secondary and primary data. The primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire survey of 23 clients of the bank, interviews with the general banking officers, informal discussions with supporting staff and personal observation of service delivery processes. To support and authenticate the findings, secondary data were collected using annual reports and official publications as well as other necessary documents of Dhaka Bank PLC. However, the department also faces several challenges in implementing effective customer education initiatives. Issues such as time limitations and customer reluctance to adopt digital banking often hinder the progress of these efforts. By developing structured financial education programs and adopting a strategic approach, Dhaka Bank PLC can further enhance its customers’ financial literacy ultimately benefiting both the customers and the bank in the long term.
