Item Unconfined Compressive Strength Comparison Between Cement Stabilized and Lime Stabilized Soil(Daffodil International University, 2022-03-28) Hossain, Md. Imran; Ahamed, Shakil; Hossen, Md. RakibSoil stabilization is any process that improves the physical properties of soil, such as increasing shear strength, bearing capacity, etc. Quantitatively the consistency can be expressed by the unconfined compressive strength test (UCT). In this research, the effects of mixing the soil with cement and lime are explored to determine the strength of the unconfined compression of the soil. Clay samples were collected from jionpur, Manikgonj, Bangladesh. The cement used in this experiment is Portland cement. The lime used in this work is limestone. Lime was collected from Narayongonj. Using 3%, 6%, and 9 % lime with normal soil, determined the strength of the soil. Again using 3%, 6%, and 9% cement in the same way, determined the strength of the soil. After finishing this process gradually 3, 7, 14 and 28 days, the molds were carefully placed in the desiccator for curing. Then compared the Unconfined Compressive strength between cement stabilized soil and lime stabilized soil. In this whole study shows the increasing strength of the soil by mixing cement and lime. The best result of cement and lime is found 9% admixture ratio.Item Variation of Surface Water Quality in an Urban Vegetated Canal(Daffodil International University, 2023-09-29) Hasan, Mohammad Asibul; Ahamed, Shakil; Akter, FarjanaWater is one of the fundamental elements for living organisms, without water we cannot think of our life. As pure water can save the earth, on the contrary contaminated water is like a slow poison. It is poisoning the whole world slowly. Our surface water is contaminating day by day and industrial effluents are presenting a major role in it. In our country it's more conspicuous. This effluent contains carcinogenic matter and causes cancer on the living body. So, this matter should be highly focused on and decreased as much as possible. Again, it can meet the water demand by recycling and reusing this water. Constructed wetland process of wastewater treatment uses natural plants to take up the pollutants and thus treat the wastewater naturally. This canal with wastewater effluents has a lot of plants like a wetland and hence water samples were collected along this canal to test the pollution parameters to check whether the level of pollution reduces along the flow. Besides all the testing procedures, parameters collected and tested from different spots, and the results have been thoroughly mentioned in this report.
