    RESPONSE OF NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS FERTILIZERS EFFICIENCY ON GROWTH AND YIELD ATTRIBUTES OF SOYBEAN (Glycine max L. Merill.)

    A study was conducted to study the response of inorganic fertilizers, nitrogen, and phosphorus on morphophysiological and yield parameter of soybean, the experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) by three replications at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2019. Three levels (0, 25, and 40 kg N ha-1 ) of nitrogen and four levels (0, 18, 36, and 54 kg P ha-1 ) of phosphorus fertilizer used as a treatment for this experiment. Soybean plants responded to the nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer for the crop growing, and improving yield contributing characters were significantly influenced. Significant effect on plant height, number of branches, seeds plant-1 , number of filled pods plant-1 , the weight of seeds plant-1 , dry weight of the plant, stover weight plant-1 , 1000-seed weight, seeds, and stover yield were observed from the collective application of 25 kg N with 54 kg P ha-1 . Therefore, the combined application of 25 kg nitrogen ha-1 and 54 kg phosphorus ha-1 might have suggested the best possible options to acquire soybean seed yield from a field experiment.

    Warm up activity refers to gentle and fun-bused exercises which could be vcry instrumental and effective tools to teach English language to Agriculture students. Adapting mixed method research, this study investigates Agriculture students' perception toward the role of the warm up activiues 111 classroom learning, and the problems faced by them in practicing the activities. Through the discussion on the findings. the importance of'usmg warm up activities in English language classroom has been highlighted, The findings of the study 1lI1Iyinspire not only the English language teachers but also the teachers from other disciplines to facilitate uppropriatc warm up activities 10 accelerate classroom teaching and learning.

    EFFICACY OF SOME COMMON MEDICINAL PLANTS FOR ITS rossret.s INHIBITORY ACTIVITY

    A study was conducted :It the functional molecular chemistry laboratory of Kagawa Univcrvity to find out the effect of some plant extracts as a growth inhibitor during March 2017 to August 2017. Four common plant IC3"cs (Eucalyptus. Jamun. Mahogany and Cannon ball tree). which were collected from l3ongladcsh. were extracted and their efficacy was tested using four different plant species. Among the test species. cress was the mOM sensitive. whereas leuuce, Italian ryegrass and rice sccdlmgs showed almost similar inhibitory activity on shoot and root growth. Among the four different plant leaf extracts. Cannon ball tree (Couroupita guianensis) showed strong inhibition 011 plant growth. 011 the other hand. Mahogany (SlI'iC'/{,lIia m(/croplr-,IIl1) leaf extracts exhibited relatively weaker inhibitory activity than the other leaf extracts aguins: the four plant species.

    YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF BAR] MUNG-6 AS INFLUENCED BY DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SULPHUR AND POTASSIUM

    An experiment was carried out at the research field of Sbcr-c-Bangla Agricuhural University. Dhaka. during March to June. 2019 to study the effect (If different levels (If sulfur and potassium on yield and yield components of BARI Mung-S. KI• 20 kg K 113.1, K2- 40 kg K ha', K, 60 kg K ha·I). which were assigned in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Data on different yield contributing characters and yield were recorded and analyzed statistically. The highest branches plant" (3.55). pods plant" (14.72). seed" pod" (9.74). 1000 seeds weight (51.27 g), seed yield (1.24 t ha"). stover yield (2.35 t ha'] and biological yield (3.59 t ha") were observed in S2 (6 kg S ha I) treatment. whereas the highest number of branches plant' I (3.57). pods plant' I (14.20). seeds pod" (9.65), 1000 seeds weight (51.16 g). seed yield (1.24 t ha"). stover yield (2.36 t ha") lind biological yield (3.6 t ha") were observed in K2(40 kg K ha") rrearment. The number of branches plant" (4.73), pods plaru' (16.47), seeds pOO·1 (10.87).1000 seeds weight (56 g). seed yield (1.51 t ha'). stover yield (2.92 t h3·1) and biological yield (4.43 t ha') were observed in S~K1 (6 kg S ha I ~ 40 kg K 11;1'1). The highest values of both the rrcarmem factors and their combinations were significantly highest over that of control treatments.

    RELATIVE TOLERANCE AND PHYTOREMEDIATION CAPACITY OF DIFFERENT Brassica species UNDER LEAD STRESS

    The present study was carried out to investigate the metal accumulation and tolerance abilities of five Brassica species (B. compestris. B. napus. B.jllllcea, R. sativus and B. oleracea) seedlings exposed 10 four levels of lead (Pb) stress [0 mM. 0.25 mM. 0.5 rru'vland I mM Pb(NO,):) for six weeks. Of the Brassica species studied, Bi juncea accumulated the highest amount of Pb in a dose-dependent manner and in every casco the Pb coruent was higher in the roots than the shoots. Lead toxicity causes a severe impact on plant growth and biomass. All level of Pb stress reduced seedlings height fresh weight and dry weight in each varieties at 2. -'I and 6 weeks of age. In addition, leaf relative water content and SPAD value were also decreased with increase of stress concentration. But among the varieties, B. juncea showed lowe>! reduction of abovementioned parameters. Considering the growth and physiological performance B juncea is relatively tolerant species though il accumulated highest Pb in rOOIS and ShOOLS.So. B. junceo might be used as a 1001 of phytoremcdiation ill Pb polluted soil.

    EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF LIGHT INTENSrTY ON MORPHOPHYSIOLOGY AND YIELD OF BRINJAL (Solanum melongena L.)

Moreover low light intensity negatively affects the fresh and dry weight. It also decreased number of fruits, fruit length. fruit diameter and indiv idual fruit weight in nil variety. A~ a result plant wise brinjol production hampered seriously with lull' yield. In comparison with control (100% PAR) rrcannent. 75% PAR condition (S,) decreased fruit weight by 16.8. 13.5 and 19.7~. in V,. V~ and V] respectively. In 50% PAR condition. yield per plant were decreased by 36.·t_ 33.5 and 42.4% in VI_ "1 and V, respectively. Lastly severe stress (S]) decreased fruit weight per plant by 55.0. 61.5 and 67.0% in VI. "1 and V, respectively. From this result it i~clear lhot under severe Stress (S,) V, perform well but V1perform well against $1 and S: treatments.

    PERFORMANCE OF STEM AMARANTH DURlNG THE EARLY ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD OF MORINGA PLANTATION

    A study was conducted to find out the effect of tree plunting distances on growth. yield and yield aunbuting characters of stern amaranth (AmaranlJllls oleraceus) during the early establishment period of Moringa (Moringa ole/faa) plantation. The study comprising of four treatments which were To (open field condinon). T (15 em away from tree base). T~(30 em away from tree base). T, (45 em 3\\3) from tree base). At han CSt.the maximum plan; height (59 ern) and number of le3f(24.75 cm) of stem amaranth were recorded in control condition whereas the least plant height (49 em) and leaf number (19.75) were recorded in TJ treatment. TIle highcs: leaf length (9.60 em) and leaf breadth (5.37 ern), stem girth (5.71 em), stem length (60.66 em). root length (15.118cm). shoot and root fresh weight (74.10 g and 15.62 g), shoot and root dry weight and yield (14 tIl13) were observed in open field condition. The yield of stem nmnramh in association with Moringn saplings was recorded lower compared to control condition. The yield reduction in treatment. TI (12 tlh(l), Tl (10.2 t/ha) and Tl (10.2 tIIm) were 16.6 %. and 26 %, respectively compared to open field condition. Among agroforcsiry treatments. the highest growth, yicld and yield contributing characters wen: found in plants under TI treatment revealed that stem amaranth shared available plant nutrients from thc pits of Moringa cuttings thus showing its potcnrial to be used in Moringa based agroforesrry farming system during the early singe of ..rstablishmcnt in large-scale.
