MaminAbstract: The phenomenon of social entrepreneurship, sometimes denoted social entrepreneurship, receives increased attention and popularity by policy makers, opinion leaders, as well as by researchers. The number of papers, special issues of academic journals, workshops and conferences is constantly augmenting regarding the concepts, elements, processes, challenges and boundaries of social entrepreneurship. The main objective of this study is to analyze the concepts, elements, frameworks and practices of social entrepreneurship. The study was basically conducted based on a thorough analysis of existing literatures. In order to achieve the stated review objective, a systematic review of literature was conducted by using an archival method. The study has found that the concept of social entrepreneurship is in development phase. Confusion and uncertainty are still prevailing in the areas of concepts and practices of social entrepreneurship. The study identified the common concepts, features, elements, and scope and research gap in the field of social entrepreneurship.Item Role of the government and Bgmea in Improving the Workplace Environment of Garments Factories in Bangladesh(Daffodil International University, 2016-06) Akter, Rozina; Mostafiz, FahmidaAbstract: In Bangladesh, the most powerful sector to earn foreign currency is ready made garments sector, but workplace environment of most garments factories is below standards. Recent incidents of many garments factories provide the proof of miserable conditions of theworkplace of the garments factories. The role of government and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturing Exporting Association (BGMEA) is crucial to improve the workplace environment of garments factories. But the question arises whether government and this business association take corrective actions to improve this environment or not. Author suggested that the systematic approach of curriculum development is beneficial for institutions in short run and long run.Item Tracking Selection Criteria of Solar Panels on Consumer Market in Bangladesh(Daffodil International University, 2016-06) Chakrabarty, Anuz Kumar; Hadi, Reza ShahbazAbstract: Among the extrinsic problems faced by the people of Bangladesh, load shedding carries much weight. This study prescribes a solution by offering a feasible alternative source of energy: solar panel. Solar panels are effective in providing an equivalent amount of energy at a reasonable cost compared to existing power plants. Though there is usage of solar panels in Bangladesh, the concept is not commercially prevailed for consumer markets in remote areas. The main objective of the study is to provide a blend of different attributes that consumers may consider for purchasing solar panels. By conducting depth interviews, 3 key attributes have been derived, i.e., capacity, installment, and price; along with different levels. 48 respondents were offered 20 different profiles of attribute levels to put ratings at a 100-point scale. It has been found from the analysis that people mostly prefer 100 watt panels to purchase in 12 installments each for BDT 1500-2000. Yet, corporations in Bangladesh have scope to work on it and commercialize efficiently.Item Bangladeshi Real Exchange Rates and Compettitive Positions in Export Markets Relative to the two Asian Largest Countries(Daffodil International University, 2016-06) Williams, Marvin; Barksdale, W. Kevin; Penkar, SamuelAbstract: An exchange rate system is important for a country to maintain economic stability. The objective of this study is to calculate the real exchange rate between Bangladeshi taka-Chinese renminbi and taka-Indian rupee to analyze the Bangladeshi competitive positions in the bilateral export markets with her two largest trading partners in Asia. Empirical results suggest that the Bangladeshi inflation rate is relatively higher than that in the People’s Republic of China but relatively lower than inflation rate in India, particularly since 2009. However, takarenminbi and taka-rupee real exchange rates were consistent with the predictions by the Purchasing Power Parity theory, whereby reserving Bangladesh’s relative competitive positions in export markets with the two largest Asian economies over a period during which many extraordinary events—political, economic, and otherwise—occurred both in Asia and throughout the world.Item Questions Analysis with Bloom’s Taxonomy: A Study on the Department of Business Administration(Daffodil International University, 2016-06) Hossain, Md. Kamrul; Hossain, Md. FokhrayAbstract: The purpose of tertiary level education is to improve student’s thinking ability from Lower Order Cognitive (LOC) to Higher Order Cognitive (HOC) levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The question papers are examined based on Bloom’s Taxonomy (BT) to evaluate the confidence and skill levels of the learner. According to Bloom’s Taxonomy, recall, understand and apply are the LOC whereas analyze, evaluate and creative are the HOC. In this study, question papers of examination of the Department of Business Administration (DBA) of a private university were analyzed to find the skill levels of the learner. The data were considered from mark distribution process of question papers. The question papers were evaluated based on keywords and marks were allocated to different level of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The research question for this study in “Is teaching-learning of tertiary level education following standard”. To answer this question, the following hypotheses should set to test: (i) mark distribution is increasing from LOC to HOC levels as academic year is increased and (ii) pattern of mark distribution are not same in terms of LOC and HOC levels in courses. The results showed that almost 30% questions were from understand level, whereas 7% and 12% questions were from evaluate and create level of Bloom’s taxonomy. There is significant difference of mark distribution between LOC and HOC levels and mark from LOC domain is higher than that of HOC domain in the questions. To improve students thinking ability, more questions should be included from HOC in the questions.Item Users’ Perception on Corporate Voluntary Disclosure in Bangladesh(Daffodil International University, 2016-06) Rouf, Md. AbdurAbstract: The aim of this paper is to examine the users’ perception regarding the importance, relevance, timeliness, materiality and comparability of voluntary disclosure in corporate annual reports practiced by the listed companies operating in Bangladesh. Data were collected through planned questionnaire by using direct interview method of data collection. Identifying the perceptions of various user groups i.e., professional accountants, accounting professors, investors and stockbrokers. The Chi-Square tests were carried out to test the nominated nullhypotheses. It is revealed from the analytical results that the respondents’ perception is dissatisfactory of Timeliness, comparability and relevance. Such dissatisfaction indicates that the existing corporate voluntary information practices of Bangladesh are not capable of meeting the users’ information needs.
