Item A Study on Cyber-Attack Detection and Classification Using Machine Learning Techniques(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Shafin, Sakib Shahriar; Prottoy, Sakir Adnan; Abbas, SaifThe growth of Information Technology has seen the rise of Cyber-attacks like never before. It has prompted study on detection of the attacks with faster and more accurate techniques. Machines have been rising as a front-runner, as network traffic across all sectors is increasing and big data needs processing within a short amount of time and ML models are the tool. This study covers a diverse range of network traffic with attacks seen in recent times. A total of three datasets, UNSW-NB15, CICIDS-17 and CICDDoS-2019. In this work, we cover over 20 attack types and 49, 79 and 78 features respectively for the above datasets. The three datasets were modified to create six datasets both signature based multiclass Classification a nomaly based binary-class classification. A t t he p re-processing s tep, f or f eature selection Random Forest Regression method was used. The Machine Learning detection models were built using Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Artificial Neural Network & k-Nearest Neighbor techniques. The standard metrics of evaluation, accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score and roc are used for insights. The results obtained shows that ML trained show higher detection accuracy when the attack dataset for training is bigger having fewer attack types. Another observation is that Random Forest shows the best performance among all six ML TechniquesItem Thermal Photo-Voltaic Cell Simulation Using Comsol Multi physics(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Soudeize, Alhassan Dodo Adamou; Hussain, Bilal; Zakriya, MuhammadThermal Photovoltaic (TPV) combine the solar thermal and photovoltaic systems. This technique benefits from both light and heat of the solar radiation to produce electricity. Research in TPV systems is rapidly growing with more methods and techniques to increase the overall efficiency, reduce the cost, improve the modeling, and maintain the system for long periods of time and employing them for suitable application. The paper aims to study some of the research conducted in this field in order to understand and derive key points to producing more research and providing constructive and accurate criticism for the work presented. Also a detailed explanation of TPV systems' principles and operation is presented. Classifications of TPV in terms of absorber design, shape of pipes, PV configuration, type of working fluid (base-fluid) and type of PV panels are all discussed in the literature survey. Finally, it is concluded that there is a clear lack in electrical, economic and environmental evaluations, where most of articles in TPV are dominated by the thermal study of the system.Item Solar Panel in Periodic Flow Using Comsol(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Mahar, Faizan Jabbar; Fahim, Faisal Arafat; Hadi, AbdulSolar panel in one of the appealing topics and a work of importance for the current world. For this renewable energy the new energy surge of the whole world has increased. With the increasing growth of this renewable energy (solar energy) and the increase of solar panels the world is now focusing on the greater efficiency of the solar panels. In this study the main case is the periodic flow on solar panel and a model simulation created in COMSOL. This model represents the investigation of solid breeze stream around a solar panel and the comparing basic relocation because of the breeze's heap. The solar panel is situated in a variety of similarly separated indistinguishable boards, which takes into account the supposition that the occasional stream conditions can be applied in the stream wise direction. The model sets the free flow velocity flow field of 25 m / s (Re = 6.6x106) and incorporates structural pressures caused by the displacement of people in their areas. The model uses two different tests the first defines a storm stream around the solar panel using the Turbulent Flow, k-ε physics interface; some solves structural and relocation pressures using the Solid Mechanics physics interface. Fluid-Structure Combination, Fixed Geometry Multiphysics coupling is used to pair the fluid flow limits of fluids from liquids to solids.Item Design and Feasibility Analysis of an on-Grid and Off-Grid System for Hospital Building: A Case Study on Dhaka Medical College(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Shams, Lamisa; Chowdhury, Misbahul Alam; Islam, Md. MinhajulAccess to reliable and clean energy is essential for economic development, better healthcare facilities, building more equitable and inclusive communities, and being resilient against climate change. Intending to expand the use of renewable energy in Bangladesh, using an optimization tool named HOMER, we designed an off-grid and on-grid solar project at the rooftop of Dhaka Medical College and determined its economic feasibility. The load profile was calculated for 20 operation theatres(OT) and 50 wards of the old hospital building. The average energy consumption was found to be around 4454.6 kWh/day, with a peak load of 185.6 kW at a load factor of 54%. In the off-grid scheme consisting of solar panel, diesel generator, converter and battery, it is possible to generate 2,168,861 kWh electricity annually, out of which PV supplies 1,619,195 kWh (74.7%), and the rest, 549,666 kWh (25.3%), is supplied by the diesel generator. In this case, the NPC, LCOE and operating cost of the system are approximately 3,941,506 $, 0.179 $/kWh and 192,368 $/yr, respectively and the renewable fraction is 64.4%. In the on-grid scheme, formed of solar panel, converter and battery, a total of 2,548,458 kWh electrical energy is generated annually, out of which PV supplies 1,619,799 kWh (63.9%), and the rest, 928,659 kWh (36.1%), is provided by the grid. The NPC, LCOE and operating cost of the most optimized system are found to be 2,127,556 $, 0.06748 $/kWh and 96,460.62 $/yr, respectively. Here, the renewable fraction obtained is 58.1 %. Our analysis showed that while the on-grid is a cheaper option, the off-grid is a better alternative for generating a larger fraction of clean energy. A detailed sensitivity analysis has also been conducted to observe the effect of some variable parameters like discount rate, inflation rate, grid power price, diesel price and average solar radiation on the NPC and LCOE to achieve better insights into our work.Item Bangla Sign Language Recognition Using Concatenated BdSL Network(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Abedin, Thasin; Prottoy, Khondokar S. S.; Moshruba, AyanaCommunication has always been a challenge for the deaf-mute community. So sign language is the only way of interaction for them. But the problem is that sign language is way too complex for the general mass. Keeping this in mind we propose an effective alternative tool to recognise Bangla Sign Language (BdSL) using computer vision for the people in Bangladesh. In our research we propose a novel architecture, namely "Concatenated BdSL Network" combining Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as an "Image Network" for visual feature extraction and a pretrained "Pose Estimation Network" for extraction of the hand keypoints from hand gestures. This research will hold promising future aspects for real-time sign language interpretation.Item Stability Analysis Using PID Controller for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of Multi Area Power Systems(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Shuvo, Taufiqul Islam; Tonmoy, Hannan Mahmood; Showmik, Sadman SadatOur proposition point is identified with Stability investigation of regulator for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of multi territory power frameworks with different energy assets. This postulation book contains an inside and out investigation of the plan and examination of Proportional-Integral Derivative (PID) regulator for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of multi-territory power frameworks with different fuel sources. From the start, a two-zone energy framework with suitable Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) is thought of. The plan issue is detailed as an advancement issue and to advance the boundaries of the PID regulator. The prevalence of the proposed PID regulator has been shown for a similar interconnected force framework. Additionally, the proposed approach has been stretched out to two-zone power framework with assorted wellsprings of age like warm, hydro, wind and diesel units. The framework model incorporates evaporator elements, GRC and Governor Dead Band (GDB) .It is seen from reproduction results that the presentation of the proposed approach gives better powerful reactions by contrasting the outcomes and as of late distributed in the writing. Further, the examination is reached out to a three inconsistent territory energy framework with various regulators in every zone and the outcomes are contrasted and distributed FA improved PID regulator for a similar framework under investigationItem Quick Handover in LTE for High-Speed Metro Rails and Highways using PN Sequence Detection and Forward Handover(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Haque, Md. Atiqul; Hassan, Kazi Md. Abir; Ahmed, SakifMajor evolution in high-speed railway and other motorized vehicular transportation systems demand equally adaptive technologies in cellular network communication. However, the high-speed of the vehicles present certain challenges with cellular communication. The existing standard protocol for high-speed mobility environment uses certain parameters to handle these challenges. However, they are not sufficient yet. As a result, high-speed vehicle users suffer from ping-pong handover and radio link failure, resulting in poor radio link quality. This paper proposes a forward handover technique combined with PN sequence detection to facilitate a quick handover capable of supporting high-speed mobility in metro rails and highways. The PN sequence keeps track of the UE location and helps set up a time synchronized handover procedure. The simulation results show a significant reduction in overall handover delay at the expense of slightly more complex implementation.Item Optimal Placement of Facts Device Based On N-1 Security and Stability for Bus Systems Using PSAT(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Choudhury, Tanvir; Anim, Shahran Eyakin; Mahmud, TahmidWith increasing deregulation in the electricity markets and also overall increases in consumer demand, the components of the power system are operated increasingly nearer to their rated limits. All of this also has to be done while considering the security and reliability of the system in an economic manner. There are many promising avenues of research which investigates modifications to existing infrastructure in order to meet the changing scenario and one promising path is the addition of FACTS devices. In this work, continuation power flow is used to evaluate the risk of large voltage deviations due to outages and the optimal placement of the shunt device SVC is determined in order to alleviate this issue. Similarly, the performance index based contingency ranking method is used in order to rank the severity on line flows due to possible outages and this is used to determine the optimal allocation of the series device TCSC. This is done for IEEE 5, 14 and 30 bus system and on the WSCC 9 bus system. In addition, the effectiveness of placement and stability is evaluated for testing in time domain under perturbations such as sudden changes in load demand and threephase symmetrical faults. Simulations are done in the PSAT softwareItem Autonomous Lane Detection and Lane Tracking Decision Making(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2021-03-30) Kabir, Md. It is important to determine the ideal reactive power dispatch for different kinds of load conditions. ORPD is responsible for reducing the active power loss in a system by adjusting the reactive power control variables and consequently influences the economics and net efficiency of the power System. The optimization of reactive power also ensures the voltage stability and thus maintains the security and reliability of the system. Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA) is a novel Metaheuristic Algorithm (MA) which replicates the behaviour of slime mould for searching and collecting food with the help of the excellent exploratory capabilities of slime mould. This paper brings forth the feasibility of the application of SMA to the realm of optimal reactive power flow. In this thesis, IEEE 30-bus test method is used to show the feasibility of this method. The findings were analyzed and compared to other approaches that are used for solving ORPD problems. SMA is a more efficient and robust system even compared to the most recent swarm intelligence based metaheuristic algorithms and presents a possibility for unparalleled efficiency
