Item A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for bachelor of science in electrical and electronics engineering(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Naser, Mohammad; Najibullah; Abbas, SikandarMicro controller plays an important role in industries as well as in our day-to-day life. They are programmable devices which are used to control working principles of technologies or functionalities of different application that has been designed based on each and every single instruction that has been given to the Micro controller using assembly language (MPLAB/simulation and Proteus in our project, to design control unit if Microwave oven using micro controller PIC16F872A), and provides desired functions and proper directions in industries. They are also an indispensable part of our daily lives. An average home in Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa and America using these technology. Microcontroller is considered as a basic device or equipment in software engineering and programming. The aim of this thesis is to introduce students to the modeling and designing instructions of control unit of micro wave oven using micro controller for different operation on different components, based on MPLAB and PROTEUS and to use computer simulation as a tool for conducting procedures and control studies. From reading theory the dynamic behavior and interactions that are often not readily apparent and feasible that is why simulation can be very helpful in gaining insights to the different behaviors. Next to having an actual system to experiment on, simulation is often chosen by engineers to study transient and control performance or to test conceptual designs. MPLAB is used because of the short learning instruction that most students require to start using it, its wide distribution, and its general-purpose nature. This will demonstrate the advantages of using MPLAB for analyzing micro controller instructions power system steady state behavior and its capabilities for simulating transients in power systems and power electronics, including control system dynamic behavior.Item Handover and intercell Interference in LTE advanced and beyond(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Jalil, Lukong Abdu; Walizada, NasratullahThis work provides an overview of handover and inter-cell interference in LTE/LTE-A. It gives handover techniques in LTE, some of the algorithm with it associated problems and proposed solutions in handover but focuses mostly on Inter-cell interference coordination mitigation (ICIC) techniques. It has been recognized however that inter-cell interference has become the limiting factor when trying to achieve not only high average user satisfaction, but a high degree of satisfaction for as many users as possible. Therefore, inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) lies in the focus of researchers defining next generation mobile communication standards, such as LTE-A. This thesis provides inter-cell interference mitigation techniques both in homogenous as well as heterogynous networks. It discusses the varied techniques used to mitigate ICI both in Rel 8/9 and Rel 10 of LTE_A, paying attention to the advantages and the disadvantages of each technique. Also various handover algorithms are examined. Lastly, as Performance of spatial multiplexing MIMO techniques degrades with the introduction of interference in the system. To choose optimum MIMO mode it is worthwhile to analyze the UE (user equipment) throughput under different interference scenarios before physical implementation of a system. A comparative study of MIMO technique performances in terms of UE throughput under two different UE speeds and interference scenarios has been examined.Item IUT Social (A Social Networking Website for IUT)(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Ousmane, Fouchimi NvuhPeople today are often working or performing necessary errands, but are unable to socialize due to a chaotic schedule or needs that required a great amount of attention and time. Hence, online communities were created to help those people to interact with each other in a new and unique fashion. Our social network was created to help a particular group of people (IUTians) to come closer and share their personal information’s and enjoy a lot more of our services. The results suggested a new scenario where the new car can use remote control integrated in the car ignition to allow access and in the dash board as starter button. A remote and panic button operated security system utilizing a password of an authorized user to control access to the security system, such the ignition system of an automobile. An intelligent security system has a micro controller, a memory card and electrical contact to provide an effective and intelligent security capable of distinguishing between different passwords. A memory is inter forced to the micro controller which control the operation thereof and reads data from the memory to correlate the password of an individual user against one or more users passwords of authorized user of security system stored within the memory. The remote has an electrical contact which is connected to the Car security system, the password are applied therein, to provide electrical power to the circuitry of the remote control to enable a signal to be transmitted from the remote through the electrical contacts to the security system which response controls the security function of the carItem Vehicle diagnosis and their troubleshooting(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Uddin, Md. Johir; Faisal, Tanvir Mohammad; Hossain, Mohammad JamirWhile owning a car, either that is new or old, by the passage of time it will wear while the normal use. For this reason, in this project we have tried to find out "Vehicle Diagnosis and their Troubleshooting". Basically we have gone through eight most important and common problems, their causes and the remedies. During developing the project, we have tried to study and analyze the theories of those problems through different books and websites and later we have compared some of them practically. Mainly the problems in a typical vehicle can be diagnosed commonly as having a visual inspection. In this method, the system should be known clearly to the inspector and the parts to inspect and to have a bit of information historically regarding to the vehicle problems. Then it has to be inspected and the problem can be diagnosed and should search for the probable solutions. In some cases, this does not work fully to diagnose the problems. For this reason specific methods and procedures should be followed to find the problems that we have mentioned in our project about some of the common problems and after analyzing the problems, the probable solutions should be sought. Lastly, it has to be mentioned that for most topics, for a clear understanding we have mentioned a little bit of the construction and working principle of the concerned part and after that about the problems and how to rectify them in details.Item Prediction of engine condition by analyzing sound wave(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Tipu, Mohammad Abdur Rashid; Ullah, Muhammad ShadatEngine performance very much depends on the proper alignment & working condition of different components (such as piston, piston rings, connecting rod, different valves, crank shaft, cam shaft etc), Lubrication system, and fuel injection system. If the components are not properly aligned or working condition is not good then engine produce excessive noise other than its ideal condition. This paper shows a systematic way to determine engine condition by analyzing sound wave produced by engine. Hence engine is tested for three working condition. That is when it is working at ideal speed, without one spark plug and without an air filter. Engine sound is recorded by a sound recorder for different conditions and then analyzed on MATLAB. It has been observed that for a particular problem engine produce vibration of certain frequency. If the frequency range of particular problem is known then it will be easier to predict the problem of the engine.Item E-administration of technical high School in Africa(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Bouba, Abakar; Raouf, Abdou; Hassan, LibanIn the early days the management of such systems was not easy and dynamic due to the lack of today’s technology; therefore the implementation of this website has come with some enhancement to improve the earlier disadvantages. The main objective or better still the aim of this website is to make it easier for the users (Students and Staffs) to access useful resources such as digital library, alumni, admission form, admission requirements, and view admission results. All these thanks to the very powerful and innovative evolution of sophisticated Information Technologies as exemplified by the rapid and dynamic growth of the Internet. Our website provides all the common facilities that a typical online Administration does; namely: a full-fledged interactive Alumni Portal in addition to the usual amenities that all websites provide such a home page, contact us module etc. Besides, another prominent feature of our website is an attractive gallery of photos implemented with J-Query and viewed in a virtual studio that looks aesthetically appealing to the users (Students and Staffs). Articles of the school are exclusively uploaded by the Administrator of the website and users can only view. Alumni members are approved by the Administrator after proper verification is done. The Administrator has the privilege to block Alumni members. All in all, our project is a modern online Administration website that incorporates most of the recent technologies in the field of web development.Item Automatic steering control mechanism using sensor(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Merfaq, Hemyar Ahmed Saleh; Aziz, Mohammed Abdul Musaed; Tes, Addurakeb HusseinFor use in an agricultural machine which is automatically steered by sensing along a row of plants, a component of the automatic steering system, namely, a comparator system is disclosed herein which utilizes hydraulic signals from independent sensors and mechanically Compares such signals with each other and with a mechanical feedback responsive to the degree of angularity of the steered wheels of the vehicle. The net result of the combination and construction of the comparator system is to provide automatic steering control for a small variation of steering of left and right steering courses, for example 2 to 5 degrees, wherein any large amount of deflection of the steering wheels that may be caused by the vehicle operator taking Over the steering function will not affect the automatic operation of the comparator mechanism or will the comparator mechanism have any response thereto? Further the hydraulic system of the comparator sensors which "feel" the presence of corn stalks or vines ahead of the vehicle is hydraulically isolated from the hydraulic circuitry of the comparator interior. The invention is susceptible for use for directory guidance by a single row of plants, for example corn stalks, or by guidance between directories, e.g., parallel rows of plants. Due to the fact that two sensors are utilized which function independently of each Other should interruption of the directory, for example, a row of corn stalks, occur due to a cross path, there would be no sudden sharp steering deflection and the vehicle would continue in straight steering.Item Feasibility analysis and algorithm development of a safety device for automobiles(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Manjang, Mustapha N.Use of ROAD SAFETY FEATURES should be a habitual behavior for all drivers and all the road users as well. This should be used as an act of promoting road safety and accident preventive measures whereby innocent and valuable souls and properties that are perished on daily basis will be saved from the menace of automobile road accidents. The invention of the comfortable automobile vehicle devices such as radio/stereo, air conditioning, global positioning system (GPS), and all other related comfort able devices should not be used to distract driver‘s attention on the wheel while driving. The introduction of modern and general road safety devices such as: air bags, seat belts, speedometers, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), adaptive cruise control (ACS), advanced emergency braking system (AEBS), brake collision system, lane departure warning system and all other invented devices shouldn`t be seen as an ‗‗amusement devices‖ but rather as devices that are solely meant for the saving of our dear lives and properties on the road. There must be very strict traffic laws/regulations regarding the automobile road usage and the causes of accidents, the deploying of traffic police officers to be monitoring the swift flow of traffic including: drivers, pedestrians and cyclist, on a daily basis and also traffic talk shows and awareness campaigns on our communication mediums should be thoroughly encouraged. The vast number or majority of vehicle road accidents are caused by human errors. It has been proven by many research institutes and individual researches that about or more than 57% of our daily accidents or crashes are all due to human errors. There are prevalence‘s where accidents are also caused as a result of mechanical and environmental factors but that should not be taken as an excuse(s)s and cause more human errors to commit dangerous accidents. The human behavior is seen as a devastating factor of lost of many lives and properties on our roads. Those human related factors such as: use of mobile phones, drink and driving, undertaking, road raging, tailgating, over speeding, driver fatigue, human information processing behaviours and other factors are seen as major causes of accidents and results to the vast number of loses in both uncountable economic values and lives annually. If both our governments and her people have come up with traffic regulations where all would be bound and forced to respect, obey and implement to fight against these above dilemmas, will be a stepping stone to simply reduced road accidents if not totally eliminated as a way of minimizing the lost of valuable lives and properties .Bad driving behavior can be totally discouraged and put to a stop by placing hefty fines, seizure of drivers licenses or on serious cases imposing prison charges on drivers who are found wanting or guilty of committing bad and serious traffic accidents. In most sincere cases, over speeding, drink and driving and use of mobile phones while driving is seen as a bad behavior which is related to mostly teenagers who are amused by the comfort ability of our road conditions, the comfortable inner vehicle devices/entertainment facilities that leads to their improper usage of our roads and the committing of fatal accidents. Proper attention must be paid to strictly observe and regulate such ill behaviours which always claim hundreds of thousands of lives and resources annually. Excessive speeding is responsible for the high proportion of vi mortality and morbidity rate that results from automobile road accidents. Controlling the use of mobile phones and over speeding while driving can be a great deal but it will immensely reduce the impact of crashes, lessening the severity of injuries sustained by the victims, loss of lives and save many resources that are lost due to road accidents. Finally, until when we are determined to change our bad behaviours on the roads for good, the world would have been a better and safer place to be .But our failures to adopt to the changes in traffic regulations that are geared to save our lives and properties will not only result to mayhem, but surely send us to our early graves and left our families and loved ones in tears and agony. On a more and final note, I would like to suggest thus: ‗‘A well behaved driver is always a step away from committing road accidents and also has a better tendency of living a very prosperous long life and building a driving career and as well as having a longer vehicle life span as well.Item Investigating the present IT Infrastructure of polytechnic institutes of Bangladesh and potentiality to get connected to Bangladesh Research and Education Network(BDREN)(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Islam, Md. Ariful; Siddiquee, Md. Tofael AlamItem A study of turbocharger and its applications(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Barrie, Alusine; Yusuf, Abdulmalik Muhammad; M’baye, Abdoul Aziz; Nur, Mohamed HussienNow that we're in the midst of another kind of energy crisis, the turbocharger is back. In the 1980s, it was difficult to escape the turbocharger. The twin energy crises of the 1970s forced automakers to produce cars that delivered better fuel economy. And that meant downsizing engines. By the 1980s, turbo technology was evolving and automakers installed them to boost the power of these smaller engines. But turbos promised more than just power—they promised fuel economy benefits too. They Increased power for an engine of the same size OR reduction in size for an engine with the same power output. Reduced specific fuel oil consumption - mechanical, thermal and scavenge efficiencies are improved due to less cylinders, greater air supply and use of exhaust gasses. Thermal loading is reduced due to shorter more efficient burning period for the fuel leading to less exacting cylinder conditions. The high-altitude performance of a turbocharged engine is significantly better. Because of the lower air pressure at high altitudes, the power loss of a naturally aspirated engine is considerable. In contrast, the performance of the turbine improves at altitude as a result of the greater pressure difference between the virtually constant pressure upstream of the turbine and the lower ambient pressure at outlet. The lower air density at the compressor inlet is largely equalized. Hence, the engine has barely any power loss. Because of reduced overall size, the sound-radiating outer surface of a turbo engine is smaller, it is therefore less noisy than a naturally aspirated engine with identical output. The turbocharger itself acts as an additional silencer.Item Extracting Landmarks with 3D Information for Simultaneous Localization and mapping(SLAM) using Kinect(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2013-11-15) Zahan, Gazi Md. Hasnat; Zunaid, A.F.M.SLAM is one of the most widely researched sub elds of robotics. An intuitive understanding of the SLAM process can be conveyed though a hypothetical ex- ample. Consider a simple mobile robot: a set of wheels connected to a motor and a camera, complete with actuators-physical devices for controlling the speed and direction of the unit. Now imagine the robot being used remotely by an operator to map inaccessible places. The actuators allow the robot to move around, and the camera provides enough visual information for the operator to understand where surrounding objects are and how the robot is oriented in reference to them. What the human operator is doing is an example of SLAM (Simultaneous Local- ization and Mapping). Determining the location of objects in the environment is an instance of mapping, and establishing the robot position with respect to these objects is an example of localization. The SLAM sub eld of robotics attempts to provide a way for robots to do SLAM autonomously. A solution to the SLAM problem would allow a robot to make maps without any human assistance What so ever. In this paper we proposed and implement a new technique to increase the e ciency of SLAM using Kinect sensor.
