Item USES OF COIR FIBRE, ITS PRODUCTS & IMPLEMENTATION OF GEO-COIR IN BANGLADESH(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Khan, Belas AhmedCoir fibre is obtained from husk of coconut & composed of highly lignified form of cellulose. [1] All coir fibre falls into two distinctly different categories viz. white coir and brown coir the differences between two categories are due to the conditions of husk used, the method of extraction, the physical properties as well as in the uses. Geo-coir are made of pure coir drawn from the husk of the coconut without adding any synthetic material - a cent percent natural product. The whole thing can be expressed as geo-textile. A large amount of coir fibres can be collected, processed & used in Bangladesh.Item PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURED CABLING WITH ROUTER(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Haque, A.K.M Fazlul; Shamsuddoha, Nur Md; Rahman, S.M. MostafizurThis paper presents the proposed architecture of structured cabling. We introduced this structured cabling system for the purpose of using it in different locations. We focused on the advantages of using structured cabling rather than conventional cabling system. If this proposed cabling system is followed then the entire cabling system will be easier to running and maintaining, latency will be low and throughput will be high. It is also cost effective. The simulation has been tested by “Packet Tracer” Version 3. Measuring the overall things we see that the switching system, data management, controlling and traffic are more intelligent in structured cabling system. Keywords: Structured cabling, conventional cabling, topology, routing, propagation delay, throughput.Item IMPACT IONIZATION DEPENDENCE OF HOLE TRAPPING PHENOMENA IN HEMTS(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Zaman, Saif; Parker, AnthonyImpact ionization effects on hole trapping phenomena In high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is investigated. For the purpose, measurement and a trap model simulation was done for two test devices. Measured and simulated hole trapping time constant and hole trap voltage for the two test devices are calculated and their dependence on drain bias are explored to correlate the effect of impact ionization on hole trapping phenomena. The model usability for device with different impact ionization behaviour is explored.Item EFFECTIVENESS OF RECYCLED WASTE GLASS AS A CONTAMINATED TIDAL MUD IMPROVEMENT MATERIAL(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Moqsud, M. Azizul; Hayashi, ShigenoriThe Ariake Sea having a unique feature is one of the best-known semi-closed shallow seas in Japan. The total area of this sea is 1700 km2 with an extended 96 km of the bay axis and an average width of 18 km. The vast tidal flat mud of the Ariake Sea, which is almost 40% of the total tidal flat area of Japan, is famous for its rich fishery products and Porphyra sp. cultivation. The tidal height at the flood tide is about 3 m in the bay mouth area, and it becomes bigger in the bay head area with the tidal height of 4.5-5.0 m. Azad et al., (2005) mentioned that many rivers flow into the eastern coast area of the Ariake Sea and carry 4.4 x 108 kg of sediments per year. Kato and Seguchi (2001) conducted tests and showed that coarse sediments accumulate in the eastern coast, and fine grains brought by the residual current accumulate in the bay head to form vast tidal flats with fine sediments. Cyranoski, 2001; Zhang et al., (2004), mentioned that environmental issues related to the Ariake Sea have been a topic of increasing interest recently and analysis of characteristics of tidal flats is of great interest to the regional population. Ariake sea is situated in the north-western part of Kyushu island in Japan. Figure 1 shows the locations of the study area along with the different types of Porphyra spp. cultivation areas. The tidal currents sweep into the sea and move northwards along the eastern shoreline and create a counterclockwise water movement [1, 3]. This would sweep the finer suspended particles delivered by rivers on the east side towards the inland end, where sedimentation would occur which was discussed by Ohtsubo et al., (1995).Azad et al., (2005) showed that sediments in the Ariake Sea tidal flats are medium sand to silty mud. Medium sand, which accounts for 71% of the total tidal flats, is located mainly in the east and south coast areas which is discussed by Azad et al., (2005). The study area Iida (33.57º N, 130.40º E), is the most affected by the acid treatment practice. The mud samples at the Iida site gave out a strong unpleasant odor due to the gas-phased hydrogen-sulphide (H2S). In the Iida tidal area, an artificial fishing land (40 x 25 m) was created to improve the tidal mud. The mixing of sand and the foamed waste glass with tidal mud was done thoroughly upto 1 meter depth. The quantity of materials in the improvement area was; clay 80% foamed waste glass 15 % and sand 5 %. Figure 2 shows the cross-section of the improvement area by using sand and the foamed waste glass in the contaminated Iida tidal flat mud. After preparing the improvement area, the baby Sinonovacula constricta shells were discharged into the improvement area. The regular monitoring of the geoenvironmental condition of this improvement area was carried out once in every month. A 90 cm long and 7 cm diameter steel tube sampler was used to collect the samples by inserting the tube sampler vertically. The most important geoenvironmental parameter for the benthos life is sulphide content. The sulphide content along with the other geoenvironmental parameters are measured in the pre specified layers. The sulphide content was measured by using the GASTEK 201 H/L methods.Item DISCRETIZATION OF CONTINUOUS ATTRIBUTES USING GENETIC AND ENTROPY BASED CONCEPT LEARNER(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Ahmmed, Suman; Ahmmed, Shamim; Rahman, Chowdhury MofizurGenetic Algorithm (GA) based concept learner is widely used in supervised learning system for attribute based spaces. The conventional GA based operators can not directly deal with continuous attributes. We have used two separate approaches one is pure Genetic Algorithm and another is Entropy based approach coupled with Genetic Algorithm for converting continuous attributes into discrete ones. Later on these converted discrete attributes have been used in traditional GA based concept learner to enhance its performance. In our experiments with benchmark data set it has been revealed that statistically significant improvement has been achieved with the proposed technique.Item DESIGN OF DIRECT DIGITALLY SYNTHESIZED ARBITRARY WAVEFORM GENERATOR USING FIXED-POINT DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSOR(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Prasad, S. S; Sanyal, S. KThis paper describes a prototype design to demonstrate the design of arbitrary waveform generator based on Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) technique implemented on Digital Signal Processor. The key idea is the utilization of Look- up Table (LUT) supported with Code Composer Studio (CCS) platform. The arbitrary waveform is synthesized by storing samples in the memory of TMS320VC5416 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in LUT form. The processor while executing the program recalls the stored samples sequentially and presents them to the Digital-to-Analog (D/A) Converter and the D/A converter generates the desired arbitrary waveform. The experimental results have been included.Item AUTOMATIC DETECTION AND TRANSLATION OF BENGALI TEXT ON ROAD SIGN FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Haque, S. M. Anamul; Arbi, Shahida; Tamanna, Tabassum; Itu, Sadia MahsinaLarge amount of information are embedded in natural scenes. Signs are good example of natural objects with high information content. Visually impaired individuals are unable to utilize the significant amount of information in signs. This paper presents a system for detecting and recognizing the signs in the environment specially written in Bengali and voice synthesizing their contents. In this paper we present an algorithm for detection and localization of text in road sign using edge detection approach. We use an adaptive thresholding method to binarize the text blocks and recognize the text using a neural network based OCR module. Finally, the recognized text is synthesized as voice output message convenient for visually impaired. The detection, recognition and speech synthesis modules each perform well on their respective task, and initial evaluation of the complete system is promising.Item ADVANCEMENT OF BASE CASE TO THE RECURSION: A WAY TO IMPROVE THE RUNNING TIME OF THE TRADITIONAL MERGE SORT ALGORITHM(Daffodil International University, 2007-07-01) Talukder, Ashis; Mamun, Shamim Al; Alam, Abu Md. ZaforMerge sort is one of the best examples of divide and conquer technique. Divide and conquer is inherently recursive by nature. So if the number of recursive calls can be decreased, the complexity of any recursive algorithm can be improved. This naturally leads to the advancement of base case of recursion. In this research paper, we propose such a base case-advancement technique. We will apply it upon the traditional merge sort and show that it improves the number of recursive calls, the running time as well as the memory requirement.
