Item EFFECT OF USING CARROT (Daucus carota) POWDER IN BROILER RATION AS A GROWTH PROMOTER TO PRODUCE SAFE MEAT(DEPARTMENT OF POULTRY SCIENCE, 2020) WADUD, ESAM BINA feeding trial was conducted on 150-day-old Lohman meat broiler chicks for a period of 28 days in the Poultry Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. The aim of the study was to assess the efficiency of dietary carrot powder supplementation on the production index and health status of commercial broiler chicken. The chicks were assigned randomly to five treatment groups comprising of T 1 (Antibiotic), T 3 (0.5% Carrot Powder), T 4 XV (1% Carrot Powder) and T 5 (1.5% Carrot Powder) randomly. Treatments were replicated thrice with 10 chicks per replicate. The results showed that dietary supplementation of carrot powder had no significant (P>0.05) difference on feed consumption, body weight gain and final live weight of broiler compared to control group. Higher feed consumption found in T 2 (2546.80±23.09g) group compared to other groups. However, superior final live weight (1859.50±34.83g) obtained in T 4 group where birds fed with 1% carrot powder compared to those of antibiotic and control group. Improved FCR value (1.36±0.03) found in both T 3 and T 5 group which is statistically non-significant (P>0.05) with the values of other groups. Dietary supplementation of carrot powder had significant (P<0.05) effect on the dressing percentage of broiler compared to control group. Highest dressing percentage (75.23±0.76) obtained in 1% carrot powder (T 4 ) supplementation group. Dietary supplementation of carrot powder had significant (P<0.05) effect on the relative weight of spleen but had no significant (P>0.05) effect on relative weight of bursa in different groups. Birds supplemented with 1% carrot powder showed significantly (P<0.05) higher spleen weight (2.66± 0.16g) and 0.5% carrot powder (T 3 ) showed insignificantly (P>0.05) higher bursa weight (3.08±0.79g). The relative weight of liver and heart of different groups showed that there was no significant (P>0.05) difference but relative weight of gizzard showed significant (P<0.05) difference among the groups. The superior weight of liver was 48.92±2.71g in T 5 (1.5% carrot powder), gizzard and heart were 48.92±0.51g and 12.17±1.52g in T 4 (1% carrot powder) respectively. The glucose, cholesterol and hemoglobin concentration had no significant (P>0.05) difference among all groups but comparatively lower glucose (16.03±0.27m.mole/L) in T 5 , lower cholesterol (4.90±0.40m.mole/L) & hemoglobin (6.60±0.13m.mole/L) level was found in T 4 group. It is evident from this trial that birds fed with 1% carrot powder supplemented diet achieved superior result because of superior final body weight, FCR, dressing percentage and internal organ weight compared to control and antibiotic groups. So carrot powder can be use as natural feed additive for the replacement of antibiotic in broiler production.Item EFFECT OF COPPER SULPHATE AND ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION IN RATION ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND IMMUNE RESPONSE OF BROILER CHICKEN(DEPARTMENT OF POULTRY SCIENCE, 2020) KARMAKAR, RATAN KUMARA feeding trial was conducted on 150 day-old Lohman meat broiler chicks for a period of 28 days in the poultry farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. The aim of the study was to assess the efficacy of copper sulphate and zinc supplementation. The production indexes viz. feed intake, body weight, body weight gain, FCR, dressed weight, dressing percentage, internal organs weight, hematological parameters and survivability of broiler on three replication of five treatments group containing 10 birds each group was recorded and compared.The chicks were assigned to 5 treatments groups of T 1 (control), T 2 (antibiotic), T 3 (CuSo + Zn (8mg +30mg)) and T 4 (CuSo 4 + Zn (12mg +40mg)) and T 5 (CuSo 4 4 + Zn (16mg +50mg)) randomly.The results showed that there was significant difference (P<0.05) on the feed intake, final live weight, glucose, cholesterol, internal organs and hematological parameters among different treatment groups. The higher body weight found in CuSo + Zn (8mg +30mg)T treated group compared to other groups and values were followed in an ascending order in T 3 4 ,T 5 T 2 , and T group. The dressing percentage, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, showed no significant (P>0.05) difference among all treatment groups. The better FCR (1.33±0.05) found inT 1 group. The dressing percentage in T (76.00±0.11) group was higher than other group. The result indicated that effects of supplementation of copper sulphate and zinc in blood constituents had significant effect except monocyte, eosinophil, basophil, and MCHC concentration which were non-significant (P>0.05). The control group (T 5 ) showed higher values of White blood cell (WBC) than other treated group. Higher feed intake found in T (2499.62±8.83g) group compared to other groups. However, superior final live weight (1856.67±78.38g) obtained in T 5 3 3 2 group where birds fed with CuSo + Zn (8mg +30mg) compared to those other treatment and control group. Birds fed with CuSo 4 + Zn (8mg +30mg)T 3 supplemented diet achieved superior result.Item COMPARISON OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC SELENIUM ON PERFORMANCE, SERUM ATTRIBUTES AND CELLULAR IMMUNITY IN BROILER CHICKEN(DEPARTMENT OF POULTRY SCIENCE, 2020) ISLAM, MD. TORIKULA feeding trial was conducted on 200 day-old Lohman meat broiler chicks for a period of 35 days in the poultry farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. The aim of the study was to assess the efficiency of dietary organic Se, inorganic Se and their combined dose on the production index, blood parameters and immunity of commercial broiler chicken. The chicks were assigned to 4 treatment groups comprising of T 1 (control), T 2 (1.5ml/l organic Se), T 3 XIII (0.75ml/l inorganic Se) and T 4 (combined Se) randomly. Treatments were replicated five times with 10 chicks per replication. The results showed that dietary supplementation of organic Se, inorganic Se and their Combined dose had significant (P<0.05) difference on feed consumption, body weight gain, final live weight, dressing percentage of broiler compared to control group. Higher feed consumption found in T 4 (1126.40±18.99g) group compared to other groups. However, superior final live weight (2257.66±27.95g) obtained in T 4 group where birds fed with combined dose of Se compared to those other treatment and control group. Improved FCR value (1.46±.00) found in T 3 group which is statistically significant (P<0.05) with the values of other groups. Dressing percentage is also higher in T 3 (75.10±0.90) group where birds fed with 0.75ml/l inorganic Se. Dietary supplementation of organic Se, inorganic Se and their combined dose had no significant (P>0.05) effect on the abdominal fat weight in different treatment groups. Birds supplemented with combined dose of Se (T 4 ) showed insignificantly (P>0.05) higher abdominal fat weight (31.90±1.603g).The glucose concentration had no significant (P>0.05) difference among all treatment groups but cholesterol concentration had significant (P>0.05) difference among all treatment groups and comparatively lower cholesterol level 143.60±15.79mg/dl was found in 0.75ml/l inorganic Se (T 3 ) supplemented group. In addition, the hematological parameters including white blood cell (WBC), lymphocyte and granulocyte which were significantly (P<0.05) lower in organic se, inorganic se and their combined dose groups compared to control group. Diets supplemented with organic se, inorganic se and their combined dose had no significant (P>0.05) effect on blood parameters compared to control group. Birds fed with 0.75ml/l inorganic se (T 3 ) supplemented diet achieved superior result.Item THE EFFECTS OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENTION OF FENUGREEK (Trigonella foenum-graecum) SEED AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO ANTIBIOTIC ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND HEALTH OF BROILER CHICKEN(DEPARTMENT OF POULTRY SCIENCE, 2020) AHMED, SADIKA total of 150 day-old Cobb 500 broiler chicks were reared in Sher e-Bangla Agricultural Universit y Poultry Farm, Dhaka. The present study was designed to evaluate the productive performance and health status of commercial broiler chicks fed diet containing graded levels of FS (Fenugreek Seed) compared to antibiotic based diet. Chicks were distributed randoml y in a complete randomized design into 5 experimental groups of 3 replicates (10 chicks with each replications).One of the 5 experimental group was fed this diet as control while, the remaining four groups were fed diet with 3 levels of FS (1, 1.5 and 2%) and antibiotic. The results obtained revealed that the body weight was significant (P<0.05) and the dressing percentage was also significant (P<0.05) by the dietary inclusion of FS as compared to control fed broilers. However, a linear increase in body weight was found with the increase in FS level in the diet. Birds fed 1.5% FS diets achieved superior body weights (1528.33 a ±57.468) compared to those of the control and antibiotic group. Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) was non-significant but feed consumption was significantl y higher (2289.67 a ±2.603) in 1% FS treated group in comparison to others. The relative weight of spleen and bursa of different groups showed that there was no significant (P>0.05) difference between the groups. In addition, the present study showed that feeding dietary Fenugreek seed had no significant (P>0.05) effects on liver, gizzard, intestine and heart weight among the treatments. The level of Cholesterol was significantl y (p<0.05) lower in fenugreek treated group but no significant differences in glucose level. The results of hematological studies showed no significant (P>0.05) differences due to supplementation of Fenugreek seed, except Hemoglobin, Red blood cell (RBC), White blood cell (WBC), Lymphocyte which were significantl y affected (p<0.05) compared with control and antibiotic. However, addition of FS to broiler chicks diets showed significant (p<0.05) difference in bacterial colony count among the groups. The FS supplementing groups showed lower number of E. coli and Salmonella sp. and higher number of Lactobacillus sp. compared to control group. Treatments with FS significantl y (P<0.05) increased Newcastle disease (ND) titre.Item THE EFFECTS OF DIETARY DRIED CHLORELLA POWDER SUPPLEMENTION AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO ANTIBIOTIC ON PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE AND HEALTH INDEX OF BROILER CHICKEN(DEPARTMENT OF POULTRY SCIENCE, 2020) MOW, NOUSHIN ANGUMThe use of chlorella as an immune and growth stimulant to enhance nonspecific host defense mechanisms or as an antimicrobial to inhibit bacterial growth has been reported. Thus, a total of 120 day-old Cobb 500 broiler chicks were reared in Sher -e-Bangla Agricultural Universit y Poultry Farm, Dhaka. The present study was designed to evaluate the productive performance and health status of commercial broile r chicks fed diet containing DCP (Dried Chlorella Powder) compared to antibiotic based diet. Chicks were divided randoml y into 4 experimental groups of 3 replicates (10 chicks wit h each replications).One of the 4 experimental group was fed this diet as control while, the remaining three groups were fed diet with 2 levels of DCP (0.5% and 1.0%) and antibiotic. The results showed that the body weight (1665.13 a ±8.81) was significant (P<0.05) highest at 1% DCP and the dressing percentage were also significantl y higher (P<0.05) by the dietary inclusion of DCP as compared to control fed broilers. However, a linear increase in body weight had found with the increase of DCP level in the diet. Significantl y less feed was consumed (2287.30 c ±8.895) to gain better FCR (1.37 c ±.010) at 1% DCP in comparison to others. The relative weight of spleen and bursa of different groups showed that there were no significant (P>0.05) difference between the groups. The present study showed that DCP had no significant (P>0.05) effects on liver, gizzard, intestine and heart weight among the treatments. MAYEEDAThe goal of this study was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of garlic (Allium sativum) and turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder as an alternative to antibiotic on production performance and health status of broiler chicken for a period of 28 days. A total of 150 Commercial broiler chicks of Cobb-500 strain randomly divided into 5 treatment groups viz. T 0 (Control), T 1 (antibiotic), T 2 (GP 0.5%), T 3 (TP 0.5%) and T 4 (GP 0.25% & TP 0.25%) having three replications consisting of 10 chicks in each. In this study, feed consumption (FC), body weight gain, live weight (LW), FCR and dressing percentage (DP) showed insignificant (p>0.05) difference among the treatments. However, comparatively (p>0.05) improved FC (2321.67 ± 20.63), highest LW (1625.67 ± 12.57), better FCR (1.43 ± 0.02) and highest DP (71.52 ± 0.33) were obtained in 0.5% TP treated group than other dietary groups. Whereas livability rate was not influenced (p>0.05) by different dietary groups. The relative weight of liver, gizzard, heart and intestine of different groups showed that there were non-significant (p>0.05) difference among the groups. On the other hand, abdominal fat weight (g) was significantly (p<0.05) lower in birds fed with 0.5%TP (20.11 ± 1.44) compared to control group. Different treatment groups were showed insignificant (p>0.05) effect on spleen and bursa weight. The mean weight of spleen and bursa were 2.07 ± 0.07g and 2.58 ± 0.09g respectively. Significantly (p<0.05) lower concentration (mmol/L) of glucose found in 0.5%TP treated group T 3 (15.62 ± 0.56) than T 0 and T 1 group. On the other hand, control (171.67 ± 6.18) group showed significantly (p<0.05) higher concentration (mg/dl) of cholesterol compared to other dietary groups. Significantly (p<0.05) higher level of Hb (g/dl) found in 0.5%TP (9.36 ± 0.30) and GP 0.25% & TP 0.25% (9.24 ± 0.17) group than T 0 and T 1 group. Significantly (p<0.05) higher level of RBC (million/mm 3 ) was obtained in 0.5%TP group (4.52 ± 0.07) compared to T 0 and T 1 group. Significantly (p<0.05) lower and higher percentage of neutrophils and lymphocytes respectively was found in garlic and turmeric powder treated group compared to T 0 and T 1 group. The numbers of cecal microflora (CFU/ml), E. coli and Salmonella spp. were significantly (p<0.05) higher in control (7.47 ± 0.03 and 5.83 ± 0.12 respectively) group compared to other treatment groups. Total income, net profit and BCR per bird was comparatively highest in T 3 (0.5%TP) group. Analyzing the above research findings, it obtained that 0.5% GP or 0.5% TP or their combination (0.25%GP & 0.25% TP) can be used as an alternative of antibiotic. Although, Birds fed 0.5% turmeric powder (TP) supplemented diet achieved superior result due to turmeric has ability to reduce abdominal fat and glucose, increase hemoglobin, red blood cells and lymphocyte. It also has ability to decline the E. coli and Salmonella spp.in the gut of broiler chicken and comparatively increase the net economic benefit.
