Item Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease: A Questionnaire Survey on Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention(Daffodil International University, 2024-06-06) Tonny, Yesmin AkterHand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a viral infection that typically affects children under five years old. It is typified by typical signs including oral herpes and rashes on the hands and feet. This study aims to determine the general public's awareness of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). An assessment of hand, foot, and mouth illness was created using questionnaires that were distributed one-on-one. According to the survey (31%) responders have been replied that they have idea about Hand, foot, and mouth disease. Most of the participants (69%) have been replied that they have no idea about this illness. 29% participants have been replied that they have been known causes of Hand, foot, and mouth disease. 71% of respondents, or most of them, are unaware of the illness's causes. The majority of respondents (91%) to the study stated that youngsters (ages 5-7) are more vulnerable to hand, foot, and mouth illness. According to 29% of respondents, human contact such as kissing or hugging is how the illness listed earlier is spread. Additionally, 25% and 14% of respondents indicated that they had come into contact with dung and/or touched surfaces or objects, correspondingly. Fruit drinks, citrus fruits, soda, and other acidic foods and beverages can worsen the indications of hand, foot, and mouth disease. 71% of respondents who had family members with hand, foot, and mouth disease said that their doctor had given them a throat swab test to diagnose the condition. For HFMD, there isn't a specific medical intervention. According to 88% of respondents, vitamin D can help reduce hand, foot, and mouth disease discomfort. The majority of respondents (69%), in accordance to the examination, stated that their symptoms persisted for seven days. In summary, it is possible to stop its spread by adhering to the right preventive measures.Item A survey on the Prevalence, Diagnostic Approach, Complication and Treatment of Hyperthyroidism in Dhaka Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka(Daffodil International University, 2024-06-06) Ahmed, TofayalHyperthyroidism, a condition characterized by excessive production of thyroid hormones, presentssignificant public health challenges globally, including in Bangladesh. This survey investigates the prevalence and treatment procedures of hyperthyroidism among patients at Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH). 60%, considered themselves quite knowledgeable about Hyperthyroidism. In contrast, 35% of the participants indicated that they lacked familiarity with the condition. Majority of respondents (70%) reported that they have not been impacted by Hyperthyroidism, while 30% indicated that they have been affected by the condition. 41% of respondents indicated experiencing Hyperthyroidism for a duration of 6-12 month. Additionally, 29% of participants reported enduring Hyperthyroidism for more than 2 years. As per the research findings, 33% of those surveyed noted feelings of nervousness, anxiety, and irritability. Furthermore, 30% of the participants reported experiencing a swollen neck due to an enlarged thyroid gland (goitre). Majority of the participants (55%) have been replied that doctor diagnosed Hyperthyroidism by blood test that measure level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) & 37% responders replied that doctor diagnosed Hyperthyroidism by blood test that measure T4and T3 level. In this investigation, 35% participants have been replied that doctor prescribed Anti-thyroid medications, 30% retorted that doctor prescribed Surgery (thyroidectomy). Most of the participants (42%) retorted that they have been experienced itching after taken anti-hyperthyroidism medication. 35% of respondents reported that they had participated in Hyperthyroidism support or community events. This survey underscores the necessity for continuous monitoring and tailored treatment plans to enhance patient outcomes in hyperthyroidism management at DMCH.Item A Survey on Prevalence & Treatment of Pneumonia at Hospital in Gazipur(Daffodil International University, 2024-07-01) Islam, Md. MazharulThis survey investigates the prevalence and treatment protocols for pneumonia at a hospital in Gazipur. Pneumonia, a significant public health concern, poses a substantial burden on healthcare systems worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income regions. As per survey, 90% of respondents retorted that they have been very familiar about Pneumonia, although 8% designated that they have been lacked familiarity with the illness. Conferring to this investigation, 67% participants replied that they have been affected with Pneumonia & 33% responder replied that they haven’t affected with Pneumonia. 39% participants replied that they have been diagnosed Pneumonia with one time in their life time, 31% responders retorted that they have been diagnosed Pneumonia with two time in their life time. 36% participants replied that they have been experienced shortness of breath, 34% responders retorted that they have been experienced Cough-may cough up yellow or green mucus. Conferring to the exploration most of the responders (50%) replied that they have been experienced 1-2 week symptoms before seeking medical attention. 30% responders replied that they have been sought first attention from hospital, 25% participants retorted that they have been sought first attention from local clinic, 20% responders replied that they have been sought first attention from pharmacy. Conferring to the survey, 42% responders replied that doctor suggested chest X-ray, 25% responders retorted that doctor suggested blood test. 35% responders replied that they have been taken antibiotic, 28% responders retorted that they have been taken corticosteroid, 22% participants retorted that they have been taken leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA). In conclusion, the findings of this survey provide a comprehensive overview of pneumonia's prevalence and treatment in Gazipur, serving as a valuable resource for healthcare providers and policymakersItem Survey on Prevalence, Complication and Treatment of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka(Daffodil International University, 2024-07-06) Taioyaba, MalihaUrinary tract infections (UTIs) are highly prevalent, with approximately half of all women experiencing at least one in their lifetime. Among elderly individuals and nursing home residents, UTIs are the leading cause of infection and bacteremia. A study conducted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital examined the dietary habits and hygiene practices of UTI patients. The study utilized questionnaires administered individually to patients. The results showed that 32% of respondents claimed to practice proper hygiene for UTI prevention, while 42% were unaware that wearing tight-fitted clothing during menstruation could contribute to UTIs. Additionally, 35% reported having genital skin diseases, whereas 65% did not. The majority of respondents (50%) said in the pie chart that their doctor had recommended urine analysis, followed by ultrasound with 15% and CT scan with 25% for urinary tract infection diagnosis. In the survey, 25% of participants indicated that kidney infections (pyelonephritis) are the most common complication associated with untreated UTIs. 30% responders replied that they have been experienced needing to pee more often than usual during the night (nocturia). Moreover, 25% retorted that pain or a burning sensation when peeing (dysuria). Regarding treatment, 35% of patients were prescribed nitrofurantoin monohydrate, and 25% received a combination of Cefuroxime and clavulanic acid. Overall, the findings indicate a lack of awareness and adherence to proper hygiene practices and dietary habits among UTI patients.
