    Bangladesh Karmochari Kalyan Board Bhaban

    The “Kormochari Kalyan Board” is a government organization that works for the welfare of the government employees. This board needed a iconic 30 storey building to have their office and also spaces that can create economy for the board. Concept of the design was to make vertical green spaces and terraces that can hold greens. The site is located in Dilkusha , Motijheel which is a major commercial zone in Dhaka. Surrounding of the site has multiple landmarks around it such as the national mosque Baitul Mukarram and the national stadium. The idea of the design was to keep the podium accessible for the crowd of the site surrounding and to incorporate accessible terraces to have breathing spaces on the office spaces .

    Stronger together: National Sports Complex for differently-abled people

    In our society, differently abled people are often marginalized and experience depression. This has now become a significant issue for society that needs to be addressed and solved collectively. We can provide opportunities, such as jobs, proper education, and sports, to enhance their future. In this context, the Ministry of Social Welfare under the Public Works Department recognized the necessity to establish the first National Sports Complex specially for those differently-abled youth. The total area of the site is 15.5 acres. The site is located in Bank Town, Savar, which is quite accessible from all other cities, as well as the capital, Dhaka, and it's a river-facing site. With this sports facility, differently abled individuals will get education, vocational training, medical, accommodation, and other facilities. It will serve as a hub for promoting Paralympic sports around the country. For design purposes, we must ensure the design process for those specialized individuals with all their specialized needs.

    Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Ashulia campus, Ashulia Model Town, Savar

    The rapid expansion of higher education in Bangladesh has created a need for modern, accessible, quality and sustainable university campuses. To meet this demand, Dhaka Ahsania Mission established a private university called Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in 1995. However, its current Tejgaon campus faces several challenges. It's too crowded, there is no space to expand, and some of the facilities and programs are obsolete. To solve these issues, AUST is going to set up a new campus in Ashulia Model Town, Savar. The new campus will be advantageous to students as it will allow them to learn more, interact more with industry, and be more sustainable in the years to come. The new campus will be 13.10 acres in size including new academic programs, advanced labs, student housing, and eco-friendly features. The goal is to create a better learning environment, encourage industry connections, promote sustainability, and help the local economy. The design uses site studies, local and international examples, and existing regulatory guidelines.

    Indoor sports complex, Shibchar, Madaripur

    This thesis explores the design of an Indoor Sports Complex located in Shibchar, Madaripur, Bangladesh, envisioned as a dynamic urban solution to support the area’s rapid urban development. The complex integrates a range of facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, multi-sports arena, gym and yoga center, tennis and badminton practice grounds, and a traditional sports arena accompanied by a café, merchandise shop, and administrative block near the vehicular entrance. Prioritizing pedestrian movement, the design emphasizes accessibility and human-centered spatial experience. Contextual considerations—such as climate and site characteristics—guided key design decisions, including massing, zoning, and building articulation. The zoning and massing strategies were employed to generate engaging and interconnected interior spaces. Furthermore, the structural system was deliberately designed to ensure both functional stability and architectural expression, contributing to the building’s visual identity. This project demonstrates how thoughtful integration of form, structure, and context can contribute to sustainable and inclusive urban development.

    Bangladesh Handloom Board Complex

    Bangladesh’s handloom tradition is an intrinsic part of its cultural and socio-economic identity, deeply interwoven with the livelihoods, artistry, and heritage of rural communities. However, this timeless craft now stands at a crossroads due to industrial competition, lack of infrastructural support, and diminishing generational continuity. The proposed project “Bangladesh Handloom Board Complex” initiated under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, aims to create a vibrant institutional and cultural hub to safeguard, promote, and modernize the nation’s handloom heritage. The design envisions a sustainable complex that integrates administrative, educational, and exhibition facilities, alongside research and training centers, weavers’ studios, and public interaction zones. By providing a dynamic interface between artisans, researchers, and the public, the complex will serve as a catalyst for innovation and economic resilience while celebrating the handloom’s legacy as a living cultural expression of Bangladesh.

    Polytechnic Institute, Panchagarh

    Technical and Vocational Education and Training plays a vital role in developing a skilled workforce and supporting the socio-economic growth of Bangladesh. With the rapid technological advancement and increasing competition in the labor market, the demand for technically skilled professionals has become more critical than ever. In response to this need, the Government of Bangladesh initiated the project “Polytechnic Institutes in 23 Districts” to expand access to technical education in underserved regions. This project is based on the architectural design proposal for a Polytechnic Institute in Panchagarh, one of the northernmost districts of Bangladesh where no government polytechnic institute currently exists. The project is located at Kholapara, Panchagarh Sadar, on a 5-acre site adjacent to a major highway, ensuring accessibility while maintaining a calm, semi-rural environment conducive to learning. The design aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and community-oriented campus that integrates academic, administrative, residential, and recreational functions within a cohesive master plan. Inspired by traditional Bangladeshi courtyard architecture, the proposal emphasizes open green spaces, shaded corridors, natural ventilation, and climate-responsive design strategies to enhance user comfort and environmental performance. The institute accommodates four diploma programs which are Food Processing and Preservation, Jute Production, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Light and Sound; along with workshops, laboratories, student hostels, staff residences, and supporting facilities. Ultimately, the proposed Polytechnic Institute in Panchagarh is envisioned not only as an educational facility but also as a catalyst for regional development. By fostering skill development, employment opportunities, and social inclusion, the project seeks to contribute meaningfully to local and national economic growth while promoting sustainable architectural practices.

    Oboshor: senior citizen health care and hospitality centre, Sreemangal, Sylhet

    Growing elderly population of Bangladesh is challenged with a severe lack of facilities that support the physical, mental, and social well being of senior citizens. This study proposes ‘Senior Citizen Health Care and Hospitality Centre (OBOSHOR)’, a 5.6-acre model campus in Sreemangal, Sylhet. It is an evidence-based elderly care center with biophilic concepts. The research studies global age-friendly design trends and national demographic trends, assesses similar projects, and evaluates the site's lush topography and humid-subtropical environment. The insights obtained from this research proposes a spatial program that converts hospitality ethics and therapeutic commendations into architectural programs. A compact nursing and clinical core, short-term guest suites that promote family interaction, residential wings for semi-independent seniors, and a therapeutic landscape with horticulture beds, outdoor activities, and shaded walking loops are all interlaced into the proposed scheme. Research shows that combining nature, hospitality, and healthcare can enhance elderly health outcomes, promote independence, and lessen social isolation. Redefining ageing as an active and respectable life stage that architecture can support, OBOSHOR provides a replicable, climate-responsive standard for elder care in Bangladesh.

    আরণ্যক: a center for mangrove adaptation and learning, Koyra, Khulna

    Rising climate risks and frequent natural disasters are threatening both the mangrove ecosystem and the communities that depend on them along coastal Bangladesh. The project ‘আরণ্যক-A Center for Mangrove Adaptation and Learning’ proposes an architectural response to this urgency. Located at the edge of the Sundarbans, the world's largest contiguous mangrove forest and a UNESCO heritage site, the design investigates how architecture can provide an adaptive, resilient framework to support research, education and community participation in mangrove conservation and ecological restoration. Addressing both ecosystem degradation and the increasing disaster vulnerability of coastal communities, the project integrates elevated form, sustainable materials, and disaster-resilient infrastructure led by computational simulations that assess wind load and hydrodynamics, and to withstand extreme climate conditions. Flexible spatial zoning and functional mapping allow research, training and community spaces to operate flexibly as well as to transform seamlessly into shelters during emergencies. Using a qualitative research approach and supplemented by quantitative assessments, the study validates the design’s performance and resilience. The outcome is a replicable dual-purpose model for the coastal region, demonstrating how architecture can simultaneously enable knowledge, conservation and refuge within the dynamic context of the Sundarbans and similar deltaic landscapes.

    Design of a five star hotel, Cox’s Bazar

    The proposed 5 Star Hotel at Laboni Beach, Cox’s Bazar, is planned as a major coastal hospitality project proposed by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation to support the growth of high end tourism in Bangladesh. The site is located within the hotel motel zone and directly faces the Bay of Bengal, making it one of the most attractive locations for a luxury resort development. This project aims to create a comfortable and memorable experience for guests by closely connecting the building with the sea, landscape, and climate. The design follows a guest centric approach where spaces gradually unfold from public to private, allowing visitors to enjoy sea and Hill views, natural light, and open-air environments throughout their stay. Climate responsive design strategies such as natural ventilation, shaded balconies, green terraces, and water features are used to improve comfort. The hotel is not only designed as a place for accommodation but also as a destination where people can relax, socialize, and experience the biggest sea of the world. Overall, the project aims to promote sustainable tourism while contributing positively to the urban and economic development of the area.

    Marine Fisheries Academy

    Bangladesh’s long-standing relationship with water has shaped its economy, culture, and identity, giving rise to a rich maritime heritage. Positioned along the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram, the Marine Fisheries Academy stands as a key institution dedicated to nurturing skilled professionals in marine fisheries, nautical studies, and marine engineering. However, with evolving global standards in maritime education, the need for a modernized, sustainable, and context-responsive campus has become essential. The proposed project aims to redevelop and enhance the Marine Fisheries Academy complex under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. The primary objectives are to create a modern, climate-resilient, and well-integrated academic environment that strengthens both educational and community engagement. The project includes new academic and administrative buildings, simulation labs, workshops, dormitories, and a fish museum while ensuring visual and physical connection with the waterfront. Emphasis is placed on sustainable design strategies, flood-resilient structures, and green landscape integration to reflect harmony between architecture and the maritime environment. Ultimately, the project envisions a revitalized academy that not only supports advanced maritime training but also symbolizes Bangladesh’s enduring relationship with its waters fostering innovation, discipline, and environmental stewardship for future generations of seafarers.
