Item DAMAGE POTENTIALITY AND ECO-FRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF RED PUMPKIN BEETLE AND CUCURBIT FRUIT FLY ON SQUASH VEGETABLE(DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA-1207, 2018-06) MIAH, MOHAMMAD RUBELThe experiment was conducted to study the damage potentiality and eco-friendly management of red pumpkin beetle and cucurbit fruit fly on squash during the period from October, 2018 to March, 2019. The experiment consisted of seven different treatments vizT = Cultural method 2 1 = Applying Sevin 50 WP @ 1.5g/pit + using vineger trap.T = Mechanical control method at 7 days interval + using Pheromone trap.T = Applying Sevin 50 [email protected]/pit+ Spraying Folithion 50 EC@ 1.0 ml/L of water at 15 days interval.T 4 = Spraying Pychlorex 20 EC @ 1.0 ml/L of water at 15 days interval + using Funnel Pheromone trap.T = Spraying Predator 50 EC @ 1.0 ml/L of water at 15 days interval + using mashed sweet gourd trap.T 6 = Untreated control. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design 7 -1 . The lowest percentage of leaf infestation and long petiole plant -1 4 was at 5, 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55 DAT. At 25,35,45 and 55DAT, the highest number of healthy flowers plant 4 -1 and the lowest percentage of infested flowers 4 4 . At 45 and 55DAT, the highest number of healthy fruit plant and lowest infestation was recorded from T . The highest control percentage of cucurbit fruit fly 5 . The highest single fruit weight 5 -1 -1 3 -1 was satisfactory for controlling Red pumpkin beetle and T manifested better result and control for Cucurbit fruit fly with desired yield contributing characters than the other 6 treatments. 5 -1 4 5 5Item EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT TRAPS AND SOME NONCHEMICAL OPTIONS AGAINST THE INFESTATION OF FRUIT FLY AND RED PUMPKIN BEETLE ON RIDGE GOURD(DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA-1207, 2018-06) RAHMAN, MD. MOTIURThe experiment was conducted in the field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka during rabi season from November, 2017 to April, 2018 to find out the efficacy of different traps and some nonchemical options against insect pest of ridge gourd. There were six treatments in the study comprising with T 0 = Control, T 1 =Poison bait trap, T 2 = Pheromone trap, T 3 = Banana pulp trap, T 4 = Neem oil, T 5 = Covering fruits with polythene. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. Among the treatments, covering fruits with polythene (T 5 ) showed the lowest per cent of fruit infestation per plot (5.64%) over control followed by neem oil (T 4 ) (12.90%) and T 5 showed the highest yield of total fruit weight per plot (7.48 kg) over control followed by T 4 (6.12 kg). In case of per cent increase of healthy fruit weight over control T 5 showed the highest result (939.24 %) followed by T 4 (685.12 %) at late fruiting stage of ridge gourd against fruit fly and red pumpkin beetle. Finally, the highest yield increase over control was achieved in covering with polythene, whereas the lowest increase showed in banana pulp trap over control. All traps and non-chemical options have great impact on ridge gourd yield and significant impact on fruit fly and red pumpkin beetle reduction.
