(INSTITUTE OF SEED TECHNOLOGY, 2020) HOSSAIN, MD. SHAKHAOWAT
The experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during the period from March 2019 to June 2019 to observe the effect of bio-fertilizer on yield and seed quality of blackgram with combination of nitrogen and phosphorus. The experiment consisted of two factors viz. Factor A: two bio-fertilizer levels; (i) B = Without bio-fertilizer (control) and (ii) B 1 ii 0 = With bio-fertilizer and Factor B: Five N+P levels; F = Control (without N+P fertilizer), F = 40% lower than recommended doses of N+P fertilizer, F 2 1 = 20% lower than recommended doses of N+P fertilizer, F = recommended doses of N+P fertilizer, F 4 = 20% higher than recommended doses of N+P fertilizer and F 5 = 40% higher than recommended doses of N+P fertilizer. The experiment was conducted in split-plot design with three replications. A significant variation among the treatments was found while biofertilizer application and different levels of N+P fertilizers applied in different combinations. The maximum number of pods plant -1 (38.52), pod length (4.22 cm), number of seeds pod -1 (6.50), 1000-seed weight (44.05 g), seed yield (1.76 t ha -1 ), stover yield (3.40 t ha -1 ) and biological yield (5.16 t ha -1 ) were obtained from the treatment combination of B 1 F but the highest harvest index (34.28%) was obtained from the treatment combination of B 3 1 F whereas the lowest was from the treatment combination of B 0 F 0 2 . Considering seed quality parameters, all the parameters were significantly affected by combined effect of biofertilizer and N+P treatments. The highest percent germination (94.70%) and shoot length (25.40 cm) were obtained from the treatment combination of B but the highest root length (10.86 cm) and dry weight plant -1 (0.15 g) and also lowest electrical conductivity (7.83) were obtained from the treatment combination of B 1 F compared to all other treatment combinations. As a result, it can be accomplished that application of bio-fertilizer and N+P treatment combination B 1 F 3 4 is very much effective for higher yield and better seed quality of blackgram.

(INSTITUTE OF SEED TECHNOLOGY, 2020) HOSSAIN, MD. FOYSAL
A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during the period from September, 2018 to March, 2019 to find out the influence of vermicompost and plant density on growth and quality seed yield of coriander. The variety BARI Dhonia 1 was used in the experiment as the test crop. The experiment consisted of two factors: Factor A: three different plant densities viz. P 1 = 20 plants/m 2 , P 2 = 40 plants/m 2 , P 3 = 80 plants/m and Factor B: four levels of vermicompost viz. V 0 = 0 t/ha, V 1 = 5 t/ha, V 2 2 = 10 t/ha and V = 15 t/ha. There were 12 treatment combinations and experiment was setup in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The result indicated significant variations in plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of umbels per plant, umbellate per umbel, number of seeds per plant, dry seed weight per plant, dry seed weight per plot, seed yield, germination percentage, electric conductivity test value, seedling root length and shoot length due to different plant density and/or vermicompost application. Results also revealed that, 40 plant/m ) treatment significantly influenced the morphological characters, yield contributing characters and seed quality of coriander. The highest germination percentage (77.33 %) was also obtained from this treatment but 80 plant/m 2 (P ) treatment significantly influenced on yield which gives highest seed yield (2.66 t ha 3 -1 ) due to its high plant density. Results also revealed that, application of 15 t ha -1 3 vermicompost (V ) treatment significantly influenced the morphological characters, yield contributing characters, yield and seed quality of coriander. The highest seed yield (2.71 t ha ) and germination percentage (78.66 %) was also obtained from this treatment. Among the treatment combination, P 3 V 3 (80 plant/m 2 with 15 t/ha vermicompost) treatment seemed to be more promising for obtaining higher yield (3.33 t ha -1 ) but application of 15 t ha -1 of vermicompost with 40 plants m -2 (P 2 V ) combination seemed to be more suitable for getting quality seed production of coriander. .

(INSTITUTE OF SEED TECHNOLOGY, 2020) HASAN, MD. NUR
A pot experiment was conducted at the net house of the Department of Agronomy, Sher-eBangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from April to June 2018 to investigate the yield performance and seed quality of mungbean as influenced by residual effect of organic fertilizers and different doses of chemical fertilizers. The experiment was laid out in two factors following a Factorial Experiment using Completely Randomized Design (CRD Factorial) with three replications. Factor A. Organic fertilizer-3; viz. O 0 =Control, O 1 =Cowdung, O =Vermicompost and Factor B: Chemical fertilizers-4; viz. F 0 =Control, F 1 2 =50% of recommended dose of chemical fertilizers, F =75% of recommended dose of chemical fertilizers, F 3 ii 2 =Recommended dose of chemical fertilizers. The result revealed that the residual effect of vermicompost (O ) showed its superiority by producing the highest mungbean yield (2.03 tha 1 -1 (12.69 g), pod length (8.65 cm), pods plant 2 ) with higher plant height (40.13 cm), dry weight plant -1 (33.70), seeds pod -1 (12.24) and weight of 1000 seed (40.28 g) in this treatment. On the other hand, recommended dose of chemical fertilizer seems promising in mungbean cultivation as this treatment (F ) gave the highest seed yield (2.24 tha -1 ) along with the highest pod length (8.94 cm), pods plant 3 (34.49), seeds pod -1 (12.51) and 1000 seed weight (40.38 g). Among the interactions, O 2 F out yielded other combined treatment by producing highest yield (2.48 tha -1 3 ). This interactions produced the tallest plant (43.48 cm), maximum dry weight plant -1 (13.71 g), pod length (9.21 cm), pod plant -1 (36.31), seeds pod -1 (12.88), 1000 seed weight (41.30 g), shelling percentage (71.62%), strover yield (5.52 tha -1 ), biological yield (8.00 tha -1 ), harvest index (34.13%), germination percentage (94.33%), speed of germination of seed (10.27), seedling shoot length (22.670 cm), seedling dry weight (0.0430 g) and lowest EC test value (1628.1 µS cm 1 ). The study clearly indicated that the residual effect of vermicompost as organic fertilizer and the recommended dose of chemical fertilizers and combination of vermicompost and recommended doses of chemical fertilizer might be an option for producing maximum yield and quality seed of mungben.

(INSTITUTE OF SEED TECHNOLOGY, 2020) AKHTER, SUMONA
The pot experiment was conducted at the net house of agronomy research field in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during the period from April to July 2018 to study the effect of organic manure and different doses of chemical fertilizers on the yield and seed quality of okra. Two factors were considered for the present study such as three types of organic manures viz., M 1 = Cowdung (10 t ha ), M 2 = ACI compost (8 t ha -1 ) and M 3 = Vermicompost (5 t ha -1 ) and four levels of chemical fertilizers viz., F 0 = No fertilizer (NF), F 1 = Recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF; where N, P and K was at 60-90-60 kg ha -1 , respectively), F 2 = 25% less of RDF (45-67-45) and F 3 = 50% less of RDF (30-45-30). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Result revealed that, most of the studied parameters viz., plant height, pod diameter, pod length, green pod yield plant -1 , seeds pod -1 , 100-seed weight, seed yield plant -1 and germination percentage were significantly influenced by organic manures, inorganic fertilizers and their combination. The highest performances in terms of plant height at 20, 40 and 60 DAS (19.31, 82.28 and 104.96 cm, respectively), pod diameter (3.96 cm), pod length (11.59 cm), green pod plant (57.82), seed weight pod -1 -1 (6.75),green pod yield plant -1 (0.64 kg), seeds pod (6.01 g), 100-seed weight (6.24 g), seed yield plant (12.21 g) and shelling % (44.79)was found while vermicompost was used. On the contrary, the lowest value was observed while cowdung was applied. In terms of fertilizers doses, highest performances was observed at F 2 = 25% less of RDF treatment considering the plant height at 20, 40 and 60 DAS (20.05, 79.15 and 100.39 cm, respectively), branches number plant -1 (4.54), pod diameter (3.75 cm), pod length (11.34 cm), green pod plant -1 (7.38), seeds pod -1 (59.06), 100-seed weight (6.08 g), seed yield plant -1 (9.79 g) and shelling % (41.05). In case of interaction effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer, the maximum growth and yield attributes were observed in M 3 F 2 except the number of branches plant -1 (4.60) which was found in M 2 F 2 treatment combination. However, in case of seed quality parameters viz., germination percentage, root-shoot ratio, seedlings fresh weight (FW) and dry weight (DW), organic and inorganic fertilizers responded differently while in interaction the highest performances was found in M 3 F 2 combination. Thus it could be concluded that, application of vermicompost along with 25% less of RDF accelerated growth, yield and seed quality of okra.
