    Assessing the Usability of Three Different Treated Wastewater for Irrigation in Rice Production

    The primary focus of this research was to investigate the feasibility of using various industrial wastewater for irrigation in crop production. Three distinct industrial effluents, namely sugar mill wastewater, paper mill wastewater, and textile mill wastewater, were examined in this study. These wastewaters were subjected to various treatment processes to improve their quality for irrigation. The treated wastewaters were subsequently used as irrigation water in pot experiments with BRRI dhan-28 as a model plant. The experiments were laid out in a completely randomized design with four replications. The treatments were: control (shallow pump water) (T0), untreated wastewater (T1), 50% treated water + 50% shallow pump water (T2), and treated wastewater (T3). Following the harvest of the rice crop, plant samples were separated into roots, straw, husk, and grains and were analyzed for different essential and non-essential elements. The post-harvest soils were also collected and analyzed for different elements. To evaluate the possible impact of industrial wastewater on human health, several key parameters were calculated, including the metal transfer factor (MTF), daily intake of metal (DIM), and health risk index (HRI). The HRI values for adults irrigated with treated sugar mill wastewater were determined for lead, chromium, and zinc, resulting in values of 5.82E-01, 6.50E-04, and 1.92E-01, respectively. These values indicated that no significant health risks were associated with these specific metals. In the case of rice plants irrigated with treated paper mill wastewater for adults, the HRI values were as follows: Pb (4.37E-01)>Zn (1.55E-02)>Cr (7.03E-04). These values suggest that there was a higher potential health risk associated with lead exposure. For rice plants irrigated with treated textile mill wastewater, the HRI values for adults followed the order: lead (4.37E-01)>zinc (2.69E-02)>chromium (9.46E 04). Even when using 50% treated water + 50% shallow pump water, the HRI values for adults remained within acceptable limits for lead, chromium, and zinc. Therefore, among the three industrial wastewater sources investigated, the order of suitability for irrigation was as follows: sugar mill wastewater>papermill wastewater>textile mill wastewater. Agro-based industrial effluents demonstrated better suitability for irrigation compared to textile mill wastewater. These findings emphasized the importance of appropriate treatment and management of industrial wastewater to ensure safe and sustainable agricultural practices.

    DNA PROFILING AND MOLECULAR DIVERSITY ANALYSIS OF BRINJAL (Solanum melongena L.) CULTIVARS USING RAPD MARKERS

    An experiment was conducted on Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) in Biotechnology Laboratory of the Department of Biotechnology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207. The genetic variation of 11 brinjal varieties (BARI begun 1, BARI begun 4, BARI begun 5, BARI begun 6, BARI begun 7, BARI begun 8, BARI begun 9, BARI begun 10, BARI hybrid begun 1, BARI hybrid begun 3 and BARI hybrid begun 4) were studied based on PCR technology using five RAPD primers. Sum total of 44 distinct DNA amplified band were observed with an average of 5.6 polymorphic bands per primer. The overall gene diversity was detected 0.2186 and level of polymorphism was detected 63.64%. The pair wise inter-variety similarity indices ranged from 67.03% to 97.61%. The UPGMA Dendrogram segregated 11 genotypes of brinjal into two main clusters. The first major cluster had only one genotype (BARI begun 6) and the second major cluster had rest of ten genotypes. BARI begun 6 vs. BARI begun 1 showed highest Nei’s genetic distance (0.5261) as they are released from different parental origin. On the other hand BARI began 9 vs. BARI begun 7 varietal pair showed lowest genetic distance (0.0465) as they are released from same parental origin. The experiment reveals significant level of variations among 11 brinjal genotypes by RAPD markers. The results of this study can be used as a baseline for the future diversity assessment and genetic analysis of brinjal varieties of Bangladesh.

    EFFECT OF GROWING SUBSTRATES ON GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF DIFFERENT TOMATO CULTIVARS IN HYDROPONIC CULTURE

    Mixing of different growing substrates have the ability to improve aeration of the growing substrates. Therefore, a pot experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from September-2019 to March2020, to investigate the effect of growing substrates on growth, yield and quality of different tomato cultivars in hydroponic culture. The experiment consisted of two factors, and followed completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. Factor A: Three tomato cultivars viz;V 1 = Rani; V 2 = Extra profit and V 3 = Roma VF, Factor B: Four different growing substrate viz; M 1 = 70 % Cocopeat + 30 % Khoa, M 2 = 70 % Rice husk+ 30 % Khoa, M 3 = 70 % Sawdust and + 30 % Khoa and M 4 = 70 % Woodchips+ 30 % Khoa. Results revealed that the highest number of fruits plant (24.89), fruit polar length (3.67 cm), fruit radial length (3.60 cm), individual fruit fresh weight (47.64 g), individual fruit dry weight of tomato (2.55 g) and yield plant (1.19 kg) was found in 70 % Cocopeat + 30 % Khoa (M 1 ) based growing substrate. In case of different tomato cultivars the highest yield plant -1 (1.14 kg) was found in Rani tomato cultivar (V 1 ). In case of combination, the highest fruit plant (27.67), fruit polar length (4.08 cm), fruit radial length (3.99 cm), individual fruit fresh weight (48.13 g), fruit dry weight (2.77 g), yield plant -1 (1.33 kg) and fruit volume (204.50 cc) was found in V 1 M 1 .Therefore, it can be concluded that Rani tomato cultivar can be grown in M 1 substrate with higher yield and quality of tomato in hydroponic culture.

    EFFECT OF VERMICOMPOST AND SPACING ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF SUMMER ONION

    An experiment was carried out at Horticultural Farm in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207, Bangladesh to study the effect of vermicompost and spacing on growth and yield of summer onion. The experiment was carried out during summer season (March -May 2014). Two factors were used in the experiment viz. three levels of spacing; S 1 = 10 cm× 25 cm, S 2 = 15cm × 25cm and S 3 = 20 cm × 25 cm and three levels of vermicompost; V 0 = 2 t ha -1 and V 2 = 4 t ha -1 . The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications and all together with 9 treatment combinations were used. The findings of the experiment revealed that the tallest plant (49.6cm) was found in S 1 V 2 ; the highest number of leaves plant ,the highest dry weight of leaves plant -1 (12.9 g), the highest bulb diameter (5.3cm), the highest fresh weight of bulb plant -1 = Control , V 1 -1 (44.6 g) and the highest dry weight of bulb plant (12.6 g) was found in S 3 V 2 . But the highest length and diameter of bulb, highest fresh weight of bulb plant -1 and highest yield was found in. S 2 .In terms of economic return, results also revealed that gross return, net return and highest benefit cost ratio (BCR) was found from treatment combination of S 2 V 2 V 2

    Evaluation of newly isolated probiotic bacteria from various plant roots harboring growth promoting traits for the cultivation of organic tomato

    In recent year the overuse of chemical fertilizer increases day by day and their effects on the environment and human health have been reported by many studies. Due to the adverse effect of chemical fertilizer scientist should think of a new and alternative way for sustainable agriculture. The plant probiotic bacteria (Endophytic bacteria) occur inside the plants and has a diverse effect on plant growth promotion, which can solve this problem by providing sustainable agriculture. This study was carried out by 20 isolated endophytic bacteria from rice, tomato and cauliflower roots and also evaluated their role as plant growth promoters. The isolates were named as P1 – P10 form rice roots, TR1 – TR5 form tomato roots and CR1– CR5 form cauliflower roots. All the isolates except P7 were continued for next studies. On the basis of KOH string test the 15.79% isolates were gram positive and the rest of 84.21% isolates were gram negative endophytes. The biochemical tests reveal that among the isolated strains 84.21% were positive for MIU and Urease test, 73.68% were positive for CIU test, 52.63% were positive for Oxidase test, 47.37% were positive for Voges-Proskauer (VP), 15.79% were positive for Methyl Red (MR) test. All endophytic bacterial isolates were positive for Catalase and TSI test. In carbohydrate utilization test 47.37%, 78.95%, 94.77% and 100% were positive for Lactose, Maltose, Sucrose and Dextrose, respectively. For extracellular hydrolytic enzyme assay all the isolates showed positive results. Among the 20 endophytic isolate 18 isolates were molecularly characterized using 16s rRNA gene sequencing and were identified 38.89% as Enterobacter sp., 22.22% as Klebsiella sp., 16.67% as Pantoae sp., 11.11% as Bacillus sp., 5.56% as Pseudomonas sp., and 5.56% as Burkholderia sp. These identified strains have been submitted to gene bank in National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Three Phylogenetic tree has also been described for all the 18 strains with maximum likelihood method and proper node and branch lengths has been maintained to identify all of these strains. The 19 isolated bacteria were checked for their plant growth promoting (PGP) ability and the 100% of the isolates were shown positive results for phosphate solubilization which was done on Pikovskayas Agar medium. The ability of nitrogen fixation of the isolates were checked both in N- free (Azotobacter agar medium) and N- containing (Yeast extract mannitol agar) medium. In both the medium all the isolates were able to fix atmospheric nitrogen and showed positive results. In N- containing (Yeast extract mannitol agar) medium the isolates P4, P5, P8, P9, CR1 and CR2 were shown the maximum nitrogen fixation ability. For indole acetic acid (IAA) production 100% of the strains were able to produced IAA and the maximum amount were produced by P2 (3.514μg/ ml), P5 (4.038μg/ ml), TR1 (6.093μg/ ml), TR3 (7.002μg/ ml), TR4 (3.65μg/ ml) and TR5 (6.729μg/ ml). The ability of isolates to utilize ACC as a sole source of N was assessed on Dworkin and Foster (DF) minimal medium and the isolates TR3, CR4 and CR5 gave the maximum absorbance at 600nm. The growth promoting ability of all the isolates were checked on tomato plant individually and also in the consortium. The plate assay for germination effect of isolated strains were carried out on tomato seeds and the highest significant amount of germination percentage, root length, shoot length, seedling length, vigour index was found in CR4 (100%), P9 (7.19 cm), CR3 (6.57 cm), P9 (13.23 cm) and CR4 (1262.67 cm), respectively. For pot (field) application of 40 days recorded data, the highest significant root length, shoot length, fresh weight and dry weight were recorded in TR2 (7.03 cm), TR1 (18.77 cm), P9 (2.50 gm/ plant) and TR5 (0.48 gm/ plan), respectively. The application of these endophytes as consortia in pot field experiment also showed the significant development of root length, shoot length and seedling length and the results was significant in soil+bacterial treated tomato plant compared to soil+compost+bacteria treated plant. The highest significant root length was recorded with group 2 (P6+P7+P8+P9+P10) treated plant that is 13.60 cm and the highest significant shoot length was recorded with group 3 (TR1+TR2+TR3+TR4+TR5) treated plant that is 20.17 cm. The significant seedling length was recorded with group 1 (P1+P2+P3+P4+P5) treated plant that is 32.67 cm. All this result strongly suggests that the endophytic bacteria characterized in this study could be successfully used to promote plant growth.

    EVALUATION OF TOMATILLO (Physalis ixocarpa Brot./Physalis philadelphica) GENOTYPES AGAINST DROUGHT

    A pot experiment was conducted near the net house of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka1207, during the months of October 2017 to March 2018 to observe the performances of four tomatillo genotypes under three different drought treatments. Two factorial experiment including four tomatillo genotypes viz., G 1 (SAU Tomatillo 1), G 2 (PI003), G 3 (SAU Tomatillo 2) and G 4 (PI004) and three drought treatments viz., T 1 (Control), T 2 (30 days withholding of water/moderate stress) and T 3 (45 days withholding of water/severe stress) were outlined in completely randomized design (CRD) with five replications. Days to first flowering, days to maturity, plant height (cm), number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight per plant (g), leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm), leaf length × width (cm 2 ), leaf length/width, number of seeds per fruit, average fruit length (cm), average fruit diameter (cm), yield per plant (kg), relative water content, RWC (%), proline content (µg/g), Brix (%) and Vitamin C content were studied in the experiment. The results showed that both the tomatillo genotypes and drought treatments had significant influence independently and dependently on agromorphogenic, physiological, antioxidant and nutritional traits of tomatillo plant. Most of the traits responded negatively as the drought level increased except days to first flowering, days to maturity, leaf L/W, proline content (µg/g) and Brix (%). Among the genotypes, G 1 could be cultivated at moderate drought condition for early harvesting, the highest average fruit weight, maximum yield, maximum proline content and maximum Brix (%) content. Regarding antioxidant and nutritional traits such as for Vitamin C content, G 3 could be recommended for moderate as well as severe drought stress regions in Bangladesh. These genotypes (G 1 and G 3 ) could also be used in future hybridization programs.

    GENETIC DiVERSITY, CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS OF BC,F2 POPULATION IN Brasska napus L.

    A field experiment was conducted at the experimental field of Genetics and Plant Breeding Department, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Dhaka. Bangladesh to study genetic diversity, correlation and path analysis of BC I F2 lines obtained through first back cross of iirassica napus L. during November 2011 to March 2012. Significant variation was observed among all the genotypes for all the characters studied. Considering genetic parameters high genotypic co-efficient of variation (GCV) was observed for seed yield per plant (14.67) followed by number of secondary branches per plant (11.49), number of primary branches per plant (11.41). number of siliqua per plant (9.12) and number of siliqua per plant (9.00). Iligh heritability with low genetic advance in percent mean was observed for days to 50% flowering. days to maturity, plant height, number of secondary branches per plant, length of siliqua and 1000 seed weight which indicated that non-additive gene effects were involved for the expression of this character and selection for such trait might not be rewarding. High heritability with moderate genetic advance in percent mean was observed lbr number of primary branches per plant, number of siliqua per plant, number of seeds per siliqua and seed yield per plant indicating that this trait was under additive gene control and selection for genetic improvement for this trait would be effective. Different multivariate analyses were performed to c1assil 31 genotypes. All the genotypes were grouped into live clusters. Principal Component Analysis, Principal Coordinate Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Canonical Variate Analysis gave similar results. Cluster IV was the largest cluster comprising of S genotypes and cluster I was the smallest cluster with 2 genotypes. Cluster I had the highest intra-cluster distance and cluster V had the lowest intra cluster distance. Inter cluster distance was maximum (15.405) between cluster I and 111. The results revealed that genotypes chosen for hybridization from clusters with highest distance would give high heterotic and broad spectrum of variability in future segregating generations. The characters between days to 50% flowering and days to maturity, plant height and days to maturity, plant height and number of siliqua per plant, plant height and number of seeds per siliqua. number of primary branches per plant and number of secondary branches per plant. number of secondary branches per plant and number of siliqua per plant, number of siliqua per plant and yield per plant were highly positively correlated. Path coefficient analysis showed that days to maturity, plant height, number of secondary branches per plant, number of siliqua per plant. length of siliqua and number of seed per siliqua had positive indirect effect on seed yield per plant. Considering cluster distance, inter genotypic distance and other agronomic performance 06 and 08 from cluster I: 01 from cluster If; 021 and 024 from cluster 11!and 016 from cluster V might be considered to be better parents for future uses in hybridization program to develop high yielding varieties with early maturity.

    GENETIC VARIABILITY, CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS IN F4 GENERATION OF Brassica napus L.

    A huge part of Bangladeshi economy is spent on importing edible oil every year to meet its own requirements. The need is to enhance and improve the production of the local cultivars and for that purpose the genetic diversity of the local cultivars must be fully explored. Sixty two F4 genotypes of Brassica napus L. were evaluated based on randomized complete block design with three replications at the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, to study the variability, correlation, path analysis and genetic diversity during November 2015 to February 2016 growing seasons. The genotypes were found significantly variable for most of the characters. Comparatively phenotypic variances were higher than the genotypic variances for most of the character studied. The high GCV value was observed for number of secondary branches per plant (42.31). Number of secondary branches (98.70) exhibited the highest value of heritability followed by seed yield per plant (98.03) while days to maturity (88.02) exhibited the lowest value of heritability. The significant positive correlation with seed yield per plant were found with all most all the characters except days to 50% flowering (0.033) and days to maturity (-0.096). Path co-efficient analysis revealed that days to 50% flowering, number of secondary branch, number of siliqua per plant, number of seed per siliqua, and thousand seed weight had the positive direct effect on yield per plant whereas days to 80% maturity, plant height, number of primary branch and siliqua length had the negative direct effect on yield per plant. On the basis of cluster analysis, all the genotypes were classified in five clusters. The highest inter cluster distance was observed between cluster I and IV (10.309). The lowest inter-cluster distance (3.513) was observed between the cluster III and IV. Considering group distance and other agronomic performance genotypes G3, G4, G24, G35, G51 and G55 might be suggested for future breeding program.

    IN VITRO PLANT REGENERATION OF LENTIL (Lens culinaris Medik.) FROM DIFFERENT EXPLANTS

    The investigation was carried out in the Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during November, 2009 to April, 2010 with a view to study in vitro regeneration of Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik) from leaf discs and nodal segments explants. For this purpose, three varieties of Lentil viz. BARI Masur -3, BARI Masur -4 and BARI Masur -5 were used to assess their regeneration ability. Leaf disc and nodal segments of the three genotypes of Lentil were cultured on MS medium with different concentrations and combinations of growth regulators. Among the three varieties, BARI Masur -4 showed early callusing (17.67 days) with maximum rate of callus induction (83.33%) incase of leaf disc culture and also showed highest percentage of callus induction (80.55%) with minimum days (17.33 days) with nodal segment as_ explant. Early and maximum rate of callusing appeared in T, (MS +1.5 mg/L 2, 4-D + 0.5 mg/L BAP) and T; (MS +2 mg/L 2, 4-D + 0.5 mg/L NAA) from leaf disc and nodal segment respectively. BARI Masur -4 had the highest percentage of shoot regeneration from leaf disc (69.44%) and nodal segment (66.66%) explant. Early and maximum rate of regeneration was found in T, (MS+2.0 mg/L Kn + 0.2 mg/L NAA) and T3 (MS medium +0.5 mg/L BAP+ 0.25 mg/L Kn). The highest number of roots per shoot was counted in BARI Masur -4 (47.23%), in T; (MS medium containing 10mg/L IAA) and T, (MS medium containing 15mg/L IBA) considering leaf disc and nodal segment as explant. Considering the overall performance, genotype BARI Masur -4 appeared the best for callus formation, shoot regeneration and root formation.

    PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES AND MINERAL PROFILE STUDY OF DIFFERENT RAPESEED AND MUSTARD (Brassica spp.) GENOTYPES

    To evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of five varieties of rapeseed and mustard were taken to study their seed weight, moisture, ash, carbohydrate, protein, fat, total energy of the whole seed and chemical constant and fatty acid composition of oil and finally minerals composition of oilcake. Among the varieties Tori-7 contained the highest thousand grain weight (4.53 ± 0.10 g) and moisture percentage (4.68 ± 0.02%) whereas Sampad contained the highest amount of oil content (43.23 ± 1.06%) and gross energy (553.51 ± 5.20 kcal/g) but the lowest amount of ash (11.05 ± 0.03%). Significantly the highest amount of protein (26.80 ± 0.07%) and carbohydrate (22.29±0.81%) was observed in BARI Sarisha-15. In case of chemical constant the highest saponification value (168.25 ± 0.15) and iodine value (106.27 ± 1.03) and the lowest acid value (1.20 ± 0.02) were observed in BARI Sarisha-15. Significantly the highest amount of linoleic acid was observed in Sampad where the highest amount of palmitic acid (3.23 II ± 0.05%) and erucic acid (51.43 ± 0.02%) were found in BARI Sarisha-17 and the highest amount of behenic acid (1.31 ± 0.03%), total saturated fatty acid (TSFA) (11.30 ± 0.19%) was found in BARI Sarisha-14. The concentration of stearic acid varied from 1.20 ± 0.02% to. 1.56 ± 0.03%; whereas arachidic acid contents ranged from 4.04 ± 0.07% to 5.65 ± 0.09%. On the other hand, BARI Sarisha-15 contained the highest amount of oleic acid (18.44 ± 0.03%) and total unsaturated fatty acid (TUFA) (89.11 ± 0.03%). BARI Sarisha-14 contained the highest amount of calcium (0.44 ± 0.01%), potassium (0.90 ± 0.01%), copper (13.00 ± 0.86 ppm), and manganese (31.25±3.25ppm). BARI Sarisha-17 contained the highest amounts of magnesium (0.45 ± 0.01%), phosphorous (1.09 ± 0.03%) and Tori-7 contained the highest amounts of sulfur (0.43 ± 0.01%), iron (248.25 ± 3.25ppm), and zinc (48.37 ± 1.8ppm). However, this study suggested that although BARI Sarisha-14 contained notable mineral composition but in terms of qualitative aspect, BARI Sarisha-15 performed better over Sampad and Tori-7.

    STUDY ON COMBINING ABILITY AND HETEROSIS IN TOMATO LINES

    The general combining ability was the best general combiner for plant height at last harvest, number of flower cluster per plant, fruit size exhibited highest GCA effect for individual fruit weight, number of seed per fruit, P 6 5 showed highest GCA effect for number of fruit per plant, P 2 and P 8 were the best general combiner for earliness and parent P showed highest significant positive GCA effect for fruit yield per plant although fruit size of this parent is not good enough. The highest SCA effect and heterosis over mid parent for earliness was observed in the cross combinations P × P 8 1 which also showed best heterosis over mid parent for earliness, fruit breadth and number of seed per fruit. Cross combination P 8 × P showed the highest SCA effect and higher mid parent heterosis for the highest plant height at last harvest and for plant height at last harvest; flower cluster per plant and TSS% ; P 7 × P 9 9 showed the highest SCA effect and heterosis for number of flower per cluster; P number of fruits per plant; P 5 × P 7 for improvement of individual fruit weight; P 5 × P for number of seed per fruit and mid parent heterosis for fruit breadth; the highest SCA and mid parent heterosis observed in P for fruit length; P 4 × P 8 for fruit breadth; P 2 × P 6 for number of locules; P 1 8 × P showed the highest SCA and heterosis over mid parent for increasing pericurp thickness; P 1 × P 6 5 showed the highest SCA and heterosis for fruit yield per plant. Therefore earliness, higher yield and higher quality the hybrids P , P 1 × P 6 , P 2 × P 6 , P 2 × P 8 , P 4 × P 8 P 5 × P 7 , P 6 × P 9 , P 7 × P 8 may be selected for further trial. 6 × P 9 2 1 × P × P 9 7 8 5

    WEED SUPPRESSION IN JUTE FIELD BY GROWING LEAFY VEGETABLES

    The experiment was carried out at the Agronomy research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka during the period from April, 2013 to August, 2013 to study the weed suppression in jute field by growing leafy vegetables. Thirteen treatment combinations were T1 = Control, jute only, spacing 30 cm, T2 = Jute 30 cm + one line jute between two adjacent line, T3 = Jute 30 cm+ jute broadcast between two adjacent jute lines, T4 = Paired row jute 15 cm apart + jute 15 cm apart between two adjacent paired rows of jute, T5 = Paired row jute 15 cm apart + Broadcast jute between two adjacent paired rows of jute, T6 = Jute 30 cm apart + one kangkong line between two adjacent jute row, T7 = Jute 30 cm apart + broadcast kangkong between two adjacent jute row, T8 = Mixed jute (4 kg/ha) and kangkong (4 kg/ha), T9 = Mixed jute (4 kg/ha) and kangkong (2 kg/ha), T10 = Paired row jute 15 cm apart + Broadcast kangkong between two adjacent paired rows of jute, T11 Paired row jute 15 cm apart + 3 rows kangkong between two adjacent paired rows of jute, T12 = Paired row jute 15 cm apart + 4 rows kangkong between two adjacent paired rows of jute, T13= Mixed jute (6 kg/ha) and kangkong (8 kg/ha), The experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The results of the experiment revealed that some of the crop characteristics and yield of jute and kangkong were significant due to intercropping systems. The maximum return from jute green vegetable was obtained from T4 (52514 Tk./ha). T12 showed the highest amount of kangkong yield (11581 kg/ha). The highest dry weight of fiber (3166 kg ha-1) was obtained from T10. The treatment T12 gave the highest gross return Tk.307206 per ha. Among the different treatments T12 gave the highest net return Tk.248335 per ha. The benefit cost ratio (BCR) was found to be the highest (4.22) in the treatment combination T12.
