(Daffodil International University, 2019-05-26) Nahar, Nazmun
Well Group is one of the biggest successful Company in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh it has decent market reputation and market place. As being totally new to corporate sector, this research report has enhanced my knowledge about HRM. Nevertheless, they were all useful for my career. Any business world is very much competitive and the success in the competition depends largely on the performance of the people attached to it. Manufacturing company is a great sector incorporate business. The Industry is a manufacturing oriented industry which produces different products to its customers in various ways with the help of its human resources. Thus efficient and well trained human resources can have a huge impact on the outcome of the industry. So a company must be keen to identify the human resources as in employees and train & develop them to shape up the operation properly. This report mainly deals with the existing analysis of Training and Development of Well Group. Based on my hands-on knowledge and practice I have made this report. I have surveyed questionnaire among 10 employees of Well Group Headquarter Located in Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka. I have prepared my report based on the information regarding the particular topic. Assessment of storm surge induced vulnerability and changing adaptation strategies in the south-west coast of Bangladesh
(University of Dhaka, 2019-10-03) Nahar, Nazmun
Tropical cyclones, storm surges and floods are frequent and severe along the coastal region in the recent years due to the impact of global climate change. Inhabitants of the coastal area has adapted new, innovative and environmental friendly techniques for their survival. The study has assessed storm surge vulnerability in the south-west coast and the prevailing coping strategies. The study distinguished two distinct zones, namely, ‘Low vulnerable area’ and ‘Highly vulnerable area’ considering the vulnerability of risk factors using GIS spatial analysis. Highly vulnerable areas are mainly located in the southern part while a few areas are far inland along the estuarine rivers is low vulnerable area. Major physical and environment aspects of the study area have been severely impacted by cyclone, storm-surge, flood, waterlogging and salinity. Risks and vulnerability increased in the recent decade due to prolongation of hydro-meteorological events which affecting the life, livelihoods and adaptation practices and ecosystem of the coastal region. About 33% of the households were displaced due to extreme condition of the hazard events. Inhabitants of the low vulnerable area found to have higher percentage of dislocation in the present time than past which indicates the rate of increasing vulnerability in the area. The hazard events had caused extensive damages of infrastructure, agriculture, homestead and service facilities while waterlogging coupled with salinity is the main cause for agriculture failure in the coastal region. The study revealed that level of salinity is higher in the highly vulnerable area while the rate of salinity intrusion is more in the low vulnerable area. Its proved with statistical significance that severity of salinity has increase slightly along the south-west cost while people’s concern on impact of salinity has sharply increased in the low vulnerable area. The inhabitants have taken some indigenous, traditional and local strategies in individual and collective settings to cope with the impact of cyclone and waterlogging. The study observed that the people’s tendency of building better house has increased all along whereas, practice of taking loan for repair works has decreased remarkably in the recent years; livelihood adaptation practices like new agricultural activities have increased in highly vulnerable area while non-agricultural activities have increased in the low vulnerable areas; rain water harvesting for drinking water has become popular in the recent years; and reconstruction of roads and embankments has increased about three times in highly vulnerable areas and two times in low vulnerable areas.

Effects of heavy metal toxicity on the biological transformation of phosphorus in soil
(University of Dhaka, 2019-05-19) Nahar, Nazmun
Experiments were carried out for the isolation, identification and characterization of heavy metal resistant phosphate dissolving bacteria, their tolerance to lead and cadmium using different liquid (NB, PVK and NBRIP) medium and three different soils (silt loam, silty clay loam and sandy loam soil). To investigate the solid-phase speciation of lead and cadmium the three soil samples were also used. In this study, two metals, lead and cadmium were selected based on the fact that these metals are discharged from many of the industries such as tannery, textiles, dying factories and others. A total of 13 bacteria were screened from metal polluted soil from Saver EPZ zone area and uncontaminated agricultural fields from Dhamrai and Pabna. For initial isolation NA, NGKG, MAC, Mannitol salt, Cetrimied and EMB agar media were used for different group of organisms. And for final screening of the phosphate dissolving bacteria were made by using PVK and NBRIP agar medium. From primary screened 13 bacteria, 9 were found as phosphate dissolving bacteria and were used to determine their resistance to heavy metals by amended with different concentrations Pb2+ and Cd2+. On the basis of morphological, physiological, biochemical characteristics and API test, 13 bacteria were authentically identified as different species of Bacillus, Micrococcus, Staphylococcus, Serratia, Pseudomonas and Proteus. NB, PVK and NBRIP liquid media and three soil samples were incubated with bacterial isolates containing different metal concentrations. Phosphate-dissolving bacterial species showed a wide range of tolerance to metals (Pb and Cd). These bacterial species showed tolerance to Pb and Cd concentrations ranging from 15 to 150 μg/ml in nutrient broth medium. In PVK broth medium, bacterial species showed tolerance to Pb and Cd concentrations ranging from 30 to 250 μg/ml and 20 to 200 μg/ml, respectively. In NBRIP broth medium, bacterial species showed tolerance to Pb and Cd concentrations ranging from 50 to 300μg/ml and 20 to 200 μg/ml, respectively. Soils were mixed with compost and oil cake as a source of organic phosphate and rock phosphate as a source of inorganic phosphate. Bacterial tolerance to Pb and Cd at three concentrations (15,000 μg/ml, 20,000 μg/ml, and 30,000 μg/ml) in different soils show different results after different incubation times (24hs, 15days and 30days). Sequential extraction was used to find out the fractions of Pb and Cd from these three soils to assess metal mobility. The sequences of extractions were six operationally defined groups: water soluble (F1), exchangeable (F2), carbonate (F3), oxide (F4), organic (F5), and residual (F6). The distribution of various fractions of Cd in the three soils at different time of incubation indicated that on an average, 58% and 54% of total Cd was associated with the mobile (F1-F2) fractions in silt loam and silty clay loam soils and 23%of total Cd was associated with the mobile (F1-F3) fractions in sandy loam soil. The immobile (F4-F6) fractions were 42 %, 46 % and 77 % in silt loam soil, silty clay loam soil and sandy loam soil respectively. 26 %, 55 % and 23 % of total Pb was associated with the mobile (F1- F3) fractions in silt loam, silty clay loam and sandy loam soil. The immobile (F4-F6) fractions were 74 %, 45 % and 77 % in silt loam, silty clay loam and sandy loam soil respectively. The behavior and bioavailability of metals in soil are affected by many chemical processes. Soil properties have profound influence of the mitigation of metal toxicity. So that organisms can survive at high concentration of Pb and Cd contaminated soil and they can participate the transformation of phosphorus in soil.

Financial aid for the rehabilitation of individuals with spinal cord injuries in Bangladesh
(© 2012 Asia Pacific Disability Rehabilitation Journal, 2012) Nahar, Nazmun; Nuri, Reshma Parvin; Mahmud, Ilias
In Bangladesh, a majority of individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) are either poor or very poor. In most cases, their families undergo extreme hardship as they lose the income of the only or main earning member, and are unable to bear costs of rehabilitation. Purpose: This mixed method study explored perspectives of individuals with SCI regarding financial aid in the form of interest-free loans for their treatment and rehabilitation at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP). Method: In the first part of the study, 10 semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted. In the second part of the study, 40 persons with SCI were surveyed. The qualitative method involved selection of respondents according to their age, sex and severity of disability. Quantitative interviews were conducted with all persons with SCI in the final stage of hospital rehabilitation, in the third quarter of 2008. Results: Though CRP provides financial support depending on the individual's economic status, many persons with SCI needed additional funding from multiple sources, such as savings (42.5%), mortgaging assets (12.5%), selling assets (45%), receiving loans (37.5%), begging for money (42.5%), and receiving donations from relatives (47.5%) or the community (30%), to meet the direct and indirect costs of rehabilitation. Majority (85%) of those interviewed wanted to receive financial aid in the form of interest-free loans. 76.4% of them wanted the loans to be disbursed in two phases; initially, to offset some of their costs during rehabilitation at CRP, and thereafter, for economic reintegration in their community. The remaining 23.6% wanted the loan only for vocational reintegration. 70.59% of those interviewed proposed repayment in monthly instalments, while 17.64% suggested quarterly instalments and 11.76% favoured annual instalments. Over half of the participants (55.88%) wanted to have vocational training, and the rest wanted vocational training for their family members, to enable them to repay the loan. Conclusions: This study revealed that there is a huge demand for interestfree loans among people with SCI. An appropriately designed interest-free loan programme, which would be sensitive to individual needs, could save people with SCI and their families from bankruptcy. This would also make SCI rehabilitation programmes more sustainable, and possibly reduce over-dependence on the donors. Further action research is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of such a course of action.

    Line Follower Robot without Microcontroller
(East West University, 8/11/2016) Nahar, Nazmun; Akter, Tahmina
Line Follower robot is a machine that follows a line, either a black line on white surface or vise-versa. Nowadays, every robot is done with the help of the microcontroller, and hence the circuit is too big and tough to understand and makes it costly. For these reasons, in this project we have developed an intelligent Line follower robot with a simple concept with simple circuitry. Basically there are two types of line follower robots: one is black line follower which follows black line and second is white line follower which follows white line. Here we have designed the first one. Line follower actually senses the line and run over it.

    Modern Agri
(Daffodil International University, 2019-12) Agri, Modern; Islam, Md. Jahidul; Nahar, Nazmun
Although Bangladesh is an Agricultural Country. But in this modern technological era Agricultural sites are lagging behind. Because maximum rural peoples are illiterate and involved in Agriculture. As Bengali is our mother tongue so it will easy to understand for them. For solving this problem and for using modern technology in agricultural sites we tried to develop an android Mobile Application which Language will Bengali. “MODERN AGRI” is an android based Mobile Application. Which is related to our Agricultural sector. Our application has some goals. Determination of crop suitable for land. Which season is best suited for a crop. Complete process of soil formation before crop cultivation. When to use fertilizer on the land and how much fertilizer to use. How to cure and prevent crop germs. Also the current weather in the current location. Various market information will be available to know the price of a crop at this time. There are several steps in the type of crop, the name of the crop and the type of crop. The varieties of the crop include selected crop details, such as crop specific, cultivated areas, time of sowing, harvesting time, prevention of crop diseases and reproduction, fertilizer management etc. We have kept this arrangement for farmers only for fertilizer recommendations. Without knowing about the soil in general, it is very difficult to say. We have collaborated with the Soil Resource Development Institute for this. If a farmer's land is informed in a union of a sub district, its crop type, crop, amount of land and class of land, the farmer will be able to get proper fertilizer recommendations for his land. This Application will more helpful for users. Student and Teachers can collect agricultural data for their purpose.
