    Application of Functional Bio-Molecules for the Control of Mosquito

    The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the larvicidal activity of 6 selected plants Alstonia scholaris L. (Apocynaceae), Derris indica Bennet (Fabaceae), Ocimum sanctum L. (Lamiaceae), Plumeria alba L. (Apocynaceae), Psidium guajsva L. (Myrtaceae) and Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels. (Myrtaceae) against two mosquito species viz. Aedes albopictus Skuse and Cu/ex quinqufasciatus Say. Additional experiments to determine their bioactive potentials like lethality against the brine shrimp, Artemia salina L. nauplii, dose-mortality and repellency against the red flour beetle, Triblium castaneum (Hbst.) adults were also carried out. Isolation, purification and characterization of plant component(s) were also done to establish step-forward positive control measure(s) against two mosquito species from the pest control and pharmaceutical point of view. Larvicidal activity The Petroleum ether (Pet.E.), chloroform (CHC'3) and methanol (CH3OH) extracts of leaf, stem bark, stem wood and roots of D. indica, leaves of A. scholaris, P. albs, ps. guajava, S. cumini and whole plant of 0. sanctum was tested to evaluate the larvicidal potential against the two mosquito species Ae. a/bopictus and C. quinqufasciatus larvae through larvicidal activity. Against Ae. albopictus the extracts yielded significant results with dose levels ranged between 600 to 3.13ppm; and the observation of mortality was made after 6h of application and with 6h interval up to 30 hours. According to the intensity of activity the plants could be arranged in the following descending order: D. indica > P. alba > 0. sanctum > Ps. guajava > A. scholaris > S. cumini. Against C. quinquefasciatus the extracts yielded results with the same dose levels and observation intervals. According to the intensity of activity the plants could be arranged in the following descending order: D. indica > 0. sanctum >P. alba > A. scholaris > Ps. guajava > S. cumini. Among the selected plants D. indica was found promisingly active and thus it was taken in to consideration for dose-mortality, repellency and brine shrimp lethality tests.

    Prevalence and antibiogram of E. coli and Salmonella spp. isolates in small fruits bat (Rousettus leschenaulti) and associated public health risk in Bangladesh

    Bats are playing significant role to global ecosystem through seed dispersal, pollination and insect control. Bats also act as a career of wide range pathogens including Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli. The current changing trends in natural habitats and deforestation, bats often come in close contact with human, posing threats to public health. Detection of zoonotic pathogens carried by bats is utmost important for understanding disease ecology and for developing preventive measures. Antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic bacteria in free ranging wildlife and environment is a major concern in current decades. Salmonella spp. and E coli are commensal entero-bacteriaceae in a broad range of hosts. They can cause many diseases. A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the prevalence of Salmonella spp. and E coli in Rousettus leschenaulti fruit bats in Bangladesh during July and December, 2013. Fresh environmental fecal sample were collected from two roosting sites of Rajbari district in Bangladesh. Samples were collected by using sterile polyvinyl sheet beneath the roosting site with sterile swabs stick and putted in transport media. Samples were transferred in ice eskey and stored 40C. Salmonella spp. (8.17%; N=49) and E coli (34.7%; N=49) were isolated from samples obtained and. These pathogens were significantly more prevalent in the roost close to human vicinity (16% & 48% versus 0% & 20.82 %,). Disk diffusion methods were used to assess antibiogram of isolated pathogens. Both Salmonella spp. and E coli isolates had attained 100% resistance to amoxicillin and erythromycin, however remained sensitive 100% to ciprofloxacin and 70% to Enrofloxacin. The close interface between bat, human and production animal may responsible to have higher prevalence of Sallmonella spp and E coli. The anthropological investigation about the common practices of adjacent community people has revealed a potential public health risk.

Challenges inherent in the enforcement of compoundable offences are scrutinized, casting light on issues of efficacy, judicial discretion, and their overarching impact on the accessibility of justice. The exploration unfolds through the prism of compelling case studies, offering vivid snapshots of how individuals navigate the intersection between legal ideals and societal expectations. As the narrative unfolds, the study anticipates not only dissecting the existing landscape but also envisages a path forward. Recommendations for legal reforms, mechanisms to fortify enforcement, and strategies for public awareness form integral components, charting a trajectory towards a more equitable and efficient criminal justice system. This abstract encapsulates the essence of a holistic examination, where legal theory intertwines with the socio-cultural fabric, providing not just insights into compoundable offences but fostering a nuanced understanding of justice within the distinctive context of Bangladesh.
