    Adsorption Mechanism of Methylene Blue by Graphene Oxide-Shielded Mg-Al-Layered Double Hydroxide from Synthetic Wastewater

    Pollution of water resources by various pollutants is a global environmental issue, particularly, dye pollution has a major contribution to it. From various studies, it is confirmed that adsorption is an excellent remediation technique compared to others. Mg–Al-layered double hydroxides (LDHs) intercalated with NO3– ions act as an effective adsorbent-removing ionic species like heavy metal and dyes. Another popular nanomaterial is graphene oxide (GO), which is successfully used as an adsorbent for different pollutants like dye and heavy metal ions. It is prepared based on the modified Hummers method. In this study, GO was introduced on the surface of LDH to improve its adsorption capacity. The adsorption process is well described by the Freundlich model. The maximum adsorption capacity was obtained at around 0.5 and 0.85 mmol of methylene blue (MB) per gram of Mg–Al LDH and modified Mg–Al LDH with GO, respectively. The reaction kinetics of MB with both adsorbents is determined to be the pseudo-second-order. To get more insights of the mechanism, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was conducted among the modified Mg–Al LDH with GO and MB molecules at both low- and high-concentration environments, which demonstrated that the developed composite adsorbs MB molecules predominantly onto its GO surface and then the MB molecules are adsorbed by the LDH surface. C–H···O (2.49–3.04 Å) and pi-donor···H–O (2.45–3.05 Å) are the major driving forces behind the strong adsorbability. Besides, S···H–O, S···O,N···O–H, pi···lone pair, pi···sigma, pi···cation, and alkyl···hydrophobic interactions play important roles in stabilizing the MB molecules onto the surface of the composite.

    Defects of hides and skins and its impacts on national Economy in Bangladesh

    Study on defects of hides and skins and their impacts on the national economy were carried out 2017. The objectives of the study were to identify the type of ante mortem and postmortem defects of hides and skins that caused downgrading and rejection of hides and skins during Eid- Ul-Azha and impact on their national economy. A Survey was conducted to identify the causal factors of ante mortem and postmortem defects of hides and skins. A large number of factors of ante mortem due to cruelty handling and casting of the animal. A large number of factor of postmortem defects of hides and skins associated with operations at homestead slaughter and rural slaughter slabs included incorrect design of the flaying knife (e.g. sharp pointed knife), careless and rapid flaying, inexperienced flayers particularly during Eid-Ul-Azha festivals, artificial overstretching particularly of goat skins, non-inclusions cutaneous muscles in the hides and skins in the urban areas. Major factor related to processing and preservation were delayed in curing particularly during Eid-Ul-Azha festivals and in rural areas under-salting, dry salting and ground drying of the hides, incorrect design of the knife used In” after cleaning; rapid and careless” after cleaning.

    Increasing the Potentiality of Graphene Oxide by Chloroacetic Acid for the Adsorption of Lead with Molecular Dynamic Interpretation

    The recent progress of graphene oxide (GO), it is considered as the most promising nano adsorbents for water purification. In this study, the adsorption potentiality of this nano material was increased by functionalization of graphene with chloroacetic acid (GO/CAA). The potentiality was evaluated by applying GO and GO/CAA in the removal of lead (Pb) from synthetic waste water. The analyses of FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction patterns, and scanning electron microscope supported to the successful preparation of GO/CAA from GO. In case of adsorption of Pb (II) by GO and GO/CAA, Langmuir adsorption isotherm indicated more fit for describing the Pb (II) adsorption. According to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, the maximum adsorption capacities (qe) of GO and GO/CAA were found 0.25 and 0.52 mol/g, respectively. The pseudo second order model displayed higher correlation and hence elucidates the reaction kinetics well with both GO and GO/CAA. Molecular level insights obtained from the molecular dynamics study proved that the studied GO shows excellent adsorption efficiency to the Pb2+ ions by the intermolecular interactions among the Pb cations and oxygen atoms of the GO surface, where anions of the lead compounds could help Pb2+ ions to form clusters around GO layers. Overall, this study suggests that the modification of GO exposed higher potentiality in the purification of Pb (II).

    Learning computer programming using e-learning as a tool

    This thesis report seeks to design idea for e-learning programming tools. An intelligent education system could change one’s life towards a better future. In this software design, we used Visual Basic programming language for making demo version. The main purpose of the software is to give basic ideas about the programming language for the new programmer. This software will create questions for the user and will evaluate those answers. There are different complexity levels such as beginner, advanced, and professional. Beginner users are those who are completely new in the computer programming area. There will be different sets of questions for the different types of users. From the user answer, we will evaluate the user’s level. When they complete all of the level successfully then we can say that he/she has a better idea about programming.

    Mechanistic Insights of the Adsorption of Eriochrome Black T by the Formulated Mg–Al LDH-Graphene Oxide Composite

    Adsorption is one of the best techniques to mitigate industrial dye pollution. In this study, surface of the Mg–Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) was modified with graphene oxide (GO) to improve its adsorption efficacy of Eriochrome Black T (EBT) dye molecules. A higher correlation coefficient value of the Langmuir adsorption model indicated monolayer adsorption of EBT at the active sites of Mg–Al LDH. The optimum adsorption potential was obtained around 0.4 and 1.4 mmol of EBT per g of the LDH and the modified LDH, respectively, and both adsorbents followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. Molecular dynamics study revealed that both GO and LDH contribute to adsorb EBT. Hydrogen bonds, such as C-H…O, O–H…N, O–H…O = S, O–H…N, and N = O…H–O-Al are the major contributing forces behind the adsorption. Besides, π…alkyl, Mg…O = S, π…cation, π…anion, π…donor, π…sigma, and π…lone pair of interactions are the additional contributing forces behind the enhancement of the efficacy of the modified composite.

    Novel Computational and Drug Design Strategies for Inhibition of Monkeypox Virus and Babesia microti: Molecular Docking, Molecular Dynamic Simulation and Drug Design Approach by Natural Compounds

    "Background: The alarming increase in tick-borne pathogens such as human Babesia microti is an existential threat to global public health. It is a protozoan parasitic infection transmitted by numerous species of the genus Babesia. Second, monkeypox has recently emerged as a public health crisis, and the virus has spread around the world in the post-COVID-19 period with a very rapid transmission rate. These two novel pathogens are a new concern for human health globally and have become a significant obstacle to the development of modern medicine and the economy of the whole world. Currently, there are no approved drugs for the treatment of this disease. So, this research gap encourages us to find a potential inhibitor from a natural source. Methods and materials: In this study, a series of natural plant-based biomolecules were subjected to in-depth computational investigation to find the most potent inhibitors targeting major pathogenic proteins responsible for the diseases caused by these two pathogens. Results: Among them, most of the selected natural compounds are predicted to bind tightly to the targeted proteins that are crucial for the replication of these novel pathogens. Moreover, all the molecules have outstanding ADMET properties such as high aqueous solubility, a higher human gastrointestinal absorption rate, and a lack of any carcinogenic or hepatotoxic effects; most of them followed Lipinski’s rule. Finally, the stability of the compounds was determined by molecular dynamics simulations (MDs) for 100 ns. During MDs, we observed that the mentioned compounds have exceptional stability against selected pathogens. Conclusion: These advanced computational strategies reported that 11 lead compounds, including dieckol and amentoflavone, exhibited high potency, excellent drug-like properties, and no toxicity. These compounds demonstrated strong binding affinities to the target enzymes, especially dieckol, which displayed superior stability during molecular dynamics simulations. The MM/PBSA method confirmed the favorable binding energies of amentoflavone and dieckol. However, further in vitro and in vivo studies are necessary to validate their efficacy. Our research highlights the role of Dieckol and Amentoflavone as promising candidates for inhibiting both monkeypox and Babesia microti, demonstrating their multifaceted roles in the control of these pathogens."

    Occurrence of diseases of turkey at Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh

    The study was performed to determine the occurrence of common turkey diseases in Cox’s Bazar district. A total of 540 live turkeys were investigated in 5 farms. Birds were categories into 3 age group that is, 1-3, 4-6and >7 months of age. Diseases were diagnosed clinically by clinical history and clinical signs which were observed physically in farm during the period of January, 2017 to October, 2017. Out of 540 birds, 14.8%, 4.25% and 1.30% were diagnosed for fowl pox, respiratory disorder and cannibalism respectively in the age group of 1-3 months. In 4-6 months of age group, 5.93% were digestive disorder, 6.40% swollen head syndrome were diagnosed. Turkey lameness and turkey blindness were recorded as 3.3% and 1.85% respectively in birds of >7 months of age. The occurrence of fowl pox is high in <3 months of ages. Turkey lameness and turkey blindness were more prone in the age of >7 months.Digestive disorder found more likely in before 4 to 6 months age of turkey. To the best of our knowledge, none of such study was conducted before on the occurrence of diseases of turkey at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. This study may will help to take necessary steps of further study on turkey for the prevention and control of diseases in turkey farm in Bangladesh

    Performance of indigenous chicken in consideration of different factors under scavenging rearing system at Cox’sbazar district

    The study was conducted in lemshikhali village at Cox’sbazar district to know the productive and reproductive traits of different generation of indigenous chicken under scavenging system and to study the performance of chickens in consideration of age and relationship between body weight with egg production, egg production and hatchability. It was observed that the average live weight of chickens was 1173.133±119.18g, the average egg weight was 34.733±0.449g, the average egg production per clutch was 12.93±2.789 no of eggs and average hatchability percentage was 81.9±12.2. The live weight of hen was less than her dam and grandparents live weight. The highest egg production was observed at the age of 24 month or 2 years old chicken and highest egg size when the age of hen was 8 month. The study helps the people to know about productive, reproductive traits and live weight and weight gain of indigenous chicken under scavenging system and their genetic potentialities.

    REPLACEMENT OF SOYBEAN MEAL BY DDGS AND ITS EFFECT ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE, MEAT QUALITY, LIPID PARAMETERS AND ECONOMICS IN

    Distillers dried grain with soluble (DDGS) was used as a source of dietary protein substitution with soybean meal (SBM) in broiler chicken. Ninetysix Ross-308 unsexed day old broiler chicks were used in a 35-day trial to investigate the effects of different levels of DDGS on growth performance, carcass characteristics, blood parameter, oxidative stability of meat and cost benefit analysis in commercial broiler. Birds were randomly distributed into four dietary treatment groups designated as Control (basal diet), D1 (10% replacement of soyabean meal with DDGS), D2 (20%replacement of soyabean meal with DDGS), and D3(replacement of soyabean meal with DDGS 30%) respectively in a completely randomized design. The results showed that there were significant differences in body weight gain, feed conversion ratio and economics analysis among the treatment groups of broiler up to 30 % of replacement of soyabean meal with DDGS. But blood profile, dressing percentage and oxidative stability of broiler meat were not significantly changes compare to control group. This result suggests that DDGS might be included up to 30% as replacement of SBM in broiler diet without having any negative effects. Average daily gain (ADG) was significantly increased from 2nd to 5th week (p<0.05) while average feed intake also varies in treatment group. Feed conversion ratio significantly reduced (p<0.05) in all treatment groups compared to control group. Meat crude protein content significantly increased in DDGS supplementation (p<0.05) particularly in D1 (DDGS 10%) group. A significant reduction in TBARS concentration while increased net profit per bird in this study. It can be concluded that DDGS can be the potential alternatives to soyabean meal for poultry industry in Bangladesh without any harmful effects on human health.

    The prevalence of reproductive diseases and disorders of different animals in SAQTVH,CVASU during 2014-2016

    Reproductive problems are one of the most important factors which causes serious economic loss in livestock by reducing fertility. The objectives of this study were to observe the prevalence of reproductive diseases and associated factors in different animals at SAQTVH, CVASU. Total 1212 cases were recorded from registered case sheet from SAQTVH,CVASU during the period of 2014 to 2016.All the reproductive diseases were categories in 3 groups; gynecological, obstetrical and andrological cases .The prevalence of gynecological cases were highest in goat 85.5%(524) than the dog 6%(37), cat 4.5%(27) and cattle 3.5%(25).the prevalence of obstetrical cases in goat( 91%) ,which was higher than dog(5%),cattle( 3%)and cat(1%). Again the most prevalence of andrological cases in goat (49%) than dog (29.5%), cattle (13.5%) and cat (8%).The gynecological cases was highest prevalence in HFX breed cattle with the age of >2-4 years old at winter season. The obstetrical cases were more in cross breed cattle with >2-4 years old aged at winter and summer season. Andrological cases were most in HFX breed cattle at 1 year old age in rainy season. The gynecological cases were most percentage in cross breed goat with the age of >1-2 years old in rainy season. The obstetrical cases were more in local breed goat at >1-2 years old in rainy season. Andrological cases were more percentage in local breed of goat with 1 year old age at rainy season. The gynecological cases were higher in local breed cat with the age of >2-4 years in winter season. The obstetrical cases in pet animal were most prevalent in the local dog breed at age of 1 year old in winter season. The andrological cases were highest in local dog breed at 1 year old age pet in rainy season. The reproductive cases are more prevalent in SAQTVH, CVASU and this report may help develop control strategies against reproductive diseases reported in the study.
