Item Design & Implementation of Voice Command Based Bipedal Surveillance Robot(EWU, 3-May-2019) Das, Himel; Chakraborty, Himel; Chowdhury, Md. Sarwar UddinSurveillance of international border areas,Item Exploring effective contract management strategies: a case study of selected construction projects of Public Works Department (PWD)(BRAC University, 2025-12) Das, Himel; Jabber, Md. WasimContract management is one of the most important phases in construction projects and involves numerous tasks occurring before and after contract execution and issuance of Notification of Award (NOA). Furthermore, contract management involves making timely decisions, smooth and efficient flow of information and decisions to enable completion of the project as required by the contract documents, including review, supervision and monitoring of the construction project. PWD is responsible for the construction of infrastructure along with providing service to 24 ministries. It is one of eight executing organs in the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. It is also the Government's biggest construction agency. PWD procure goods, works and services as a large scale. This case study is concerned with PWD officials, addressing the present practice of contract management in works procurement and its knowledge among themselves. The study summarizes that PWD officials have moderate understanding on contract management issues though some field level staffs have little knowledge of it in procurement process. Procurement system follows the all clauses which are mentioned in PPR- 2025 and STDs published by BPPA. Adequate training on contract management plan for all stakeholders including procuring entities, contractors and beneficiaries is very important in order to increase knowledge. Finally, there is scope of further study about the issues in works procurement.Item Prediction of Rainfall Using Data Mining Techniques(Daffodil International University, 2019-12-06) Das, HimelThe research for this paper focus on finding inter-relations between various climate ratio and predict rainfall therefore. In addition, since precipitation is the detectable explanation for flood, our evaluation can help immensely in anticipating flood and masterminding a fitting risk the official's structure. Being a riverine country, Flood happens in Bangladesh pretty much every other year. Anticipating flood precisely can help us in working up our economy. Our assessment shows how the climate parameters (SOFI EI Nino) are obligated for critical precipitation in Bangladesh. In spite of the fact that numerous different inquiries about on foreseeing precipitation have been directed utilizing other climate variables, the southern swaying record and the EI nino 3.4 shows. For working up a relationship among precipitation, SOI and El Nino, we have applied Data Mining strategy. The particular information calculations that we have executed in our paper are K- grouping. Decision tree and Regression model. The yields of these calculations give us a clear connection among precipitation and the information parameters. Executing our strategy on the dataset of precipitation for the recent years, our evaluated precipitation is nearly equivalent to the real ones of those years. In this way, in organizing a potential gauge model for Bangladesh, our work can accept a basic activity as a result of its high effectiveness. Foe working up a relationship among precipitation, SOI and Nino, we have applied Data mining strategy.Item Sustainable practices: a study in the context of construction project under Public Works Department (PWD).(BRAC University, 2023-08) Gupta, Anik Das; Das, HimelPublic Works Department (PWD), under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, is the pioneer in construction arena of Bangladesh. Over about two centuries, PWD could successfully set the trend and standard in the country's infrastructure development. Sustainability is a major concern of Bangladesh Government nowadays. Similarly, PWD has been trying to incorporate the sustainability issues in their procurement activities, construction projects as well as their mission and vision. In order to prepare this report, some of the Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisional Engineers had been contacted who are directly working in field level. From them, the recent sustainability practices being done in the construction projects have been identified and discussed. Few data of both ongoing and finished projects in Dhaka District have been used in this report. The officers shared the present scenario in filed level. All of them shared an opinion like that: sustainable policy considers people, planet and profit, whereas the traditional policy focus on cost minimization; which are completely contradictory. So before implementing sustainable policy the most important factor is the proper and true concept of sustainability through the whole supply chain. In short, in can be said that sustainability is a strategic issue. To implement this issue in field work, it needs proper plan, skilled manpower, culture and mindset.
