Abstract
Moringa oleifera Lin is the most commonly found to grow wild in Bangladesh and its leaves and fruits are considered to be a superfood. the present study reports the phytochemical screening and some biological works from the bark and root bark extracts. The phytochemical test showed the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, steroids, flavonoids, tannins, gum, and three biological works as Hepatoprotective activity was performed by SGPT test against silymarin (as a standard) and anti-glycemic activity was performed as well as antilipidemic activity were performed as against atorvastatin (as a standard) using Wister albino mice. Both bark and root extracts exhibited strong hepatoprotective activity, with bark showing 72.33±4.58 and root 74.33±11.85. The antilipidemic activity was notable in both extracts, with bark at 60.44±4.61 and root at 68.66±11.56. The antiglycemic activity was observed in both extracts, with bark at 4.93±0.42 and root at 3.23±0.18. These findings highlight the potential of Moringa oleifera bark and root bark as sources of bioactive compounds that possess significant hepatoprotective, antilipidemic, and anti-glycemic properties. Therefore, further exploration and research are warranted to determine their potential therapeutic applications.
