An experiment was conducted in the net house and the agro-environmental chemistry laboratory of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during the Boro season of the year 2017-18 to evaluate the mitigation of arsenic stress in BRRI dhan29 with cowdung and inorganic fertilizers. The two factorial experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Factor A: different doses of arsenic on required water basis [As =No arsenic applied, As 1 = 20 ppm arsenic, As 2 = 40 ppm arsenic, As = 60 ppm arsenic] and Factor B: different doses of cowdung and inorganic fertilizers [T 0 3 = Recommended dose of cowdung + inorganic fertilizer, T 1 = Recommended dose of cowdung without inorganic fertilizer, T = Recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer without cowdung, T = Reduction of 20% recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer + addition of 20% recommended dose of cowdung, T 4 3 = Reduction of 40% recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer + addition of 40% recommended dose of cowdung]. Arsenic was added from Sodium Arsenate (Na 2 HAsO 4 .7H 2 O). In case of fertilizers, T gave higher results in most growth, yield and yield contributing parameters (tiller number, effective tiller, filled grain, panicle length, grain and straw yield) and T 1 4 gave lower results; whereas for arsenic, maximum results were recorded from As 0 and minimum from As 3 . In interaction, As 0 T produced higher results and As 3 T 1 produced lower results in most cases. The treatment T 4 4 gave higher N, P and K content in straw whereas, T 1 gave lower N, P and K content in straw; highest As content by T and lowest by T 4 . In case of arsenic content in shoot, maximum results were recorded from As and minimum from As . In interaction, the maximum N, P and K content in straw were found in As 0 T 4 0 and the minimum were observed from As 3 T treatment; whereas, highest As by As 3 T 1 and lowest by As 0 T 4 . Therefore, the treatment T 4 1 0 showed lower arsenic in shoot and T showed the highest content. 1 2 3 1
