Abstract

Altogether 69 isolates of Bipolaris sorokiniana were isolated from leaf and seeds of 21 varieties of wheat collected from 7 major wheat growing regions of Bangladesh. The collected isolates differed significantly in respect of mycelia growth, conidia production ability, shape, color, size and septation of conidia. The redial mycelia growth rate ranged from 1.96 ± 0.56 mm/day to 5.83 ± 0.02 mm/day. Maximum number of conidia /cm 2 blackish white irregular colony. The isolates of Bipolaris sorokiniana under different cultural groups also differed significantly in respect of mycelial growth rate, number of conidia/cm², size and septation of conidia.
