Inguinal hernia is rare in calf, which has the criteria of difficult correction and management. An intact five days old local female calf was presented in SAQTVH with the complaint of large swelling and bulging at the inguinal region. The swelling was noticed by the owner after birth, which was gradually increased in size. The swelling was firm, non-painful and irreducible on palpation with a large hernia mass measuring about 7.5 inches in length and 7.6 inches in width. Under sedation and local anesthesia, a line incision was performed on dorsal to the hernia mass. Hernial content mainly intestine and urinary bladder were separated from the overlying skin and muscles by blunt dissections. After reducing the hernia content with gentle pressure, herniorrhaphy was performed by using sterilized silk (size 2) with a horizontal mattress pattern. After removal of extra covering of hernia sac, final closure was done by purse string suture on skin with non-absorbable prolene. Proper post-operative care with antibiotic and analgesic therapy was maintained for next five days and follow-up observation revealed normal urination and feeding after seven days of operation. Complete recovery with proper healing was found after 10 days of operation without any complication.
