Exploring parental role in shaping social development in children in their early years (0-3) in Bangladesh

Abstract

Social development is one of most significant provinces in a child's existence. Social development shapes a child's capabilities to learn new skills and apply those skills to adapt in different environments. And parental role is the key element that ensures the social development so, exploring the parental role can give an insight of the practices that are children getting as the social stimulation in Bangladesh. To understand parental practices in this matter qualitative research has been done on different parent participants through in-depth interviews and focus group discussion. Data collected from parents highlighted the incentives children get from parents for social development, what are the challenges faced by parents while ensuring a sustainable development for their child and an overall view about the child’s social development in the eyes of parents. Data of the findings lead to discussion and some recommendations to make a positive impact in the early childhood sector of Bangladesh.
