Abstract

Energy security is nowadays a major concern of all researchers all over the world. Bangladesh is a developing country which has not enough natural resources. Most of the Energy demand of Bangladesh meets from non-renewable sources and imported energy from abroad. This type of energy source which meets energy demand never ensures energy security for a country like Bangladesh. Renewable energy generation is no more an alternative, rather it becomes a choice for the power generation to meet the upcoming energy demand. Considering the non-renewable energy unavailability and as well as the environmental impact, renewable energy should be the first choice. As a developing country, using non-renewable energy sources is not cost-efficient and never ensures our energy security. To ensure long-term energy security, it is time to shift our power generation from nonrenewable to renewable energy generation. This thesis presents a complete overview of Bangladesh's energy sector and also presents an approach to ensure the energy security of Bangladesh by using renewable sources. It also represents an approximate calculation for the renewable power generation cost and returning year.
