dc.description.abstractTransporting commodities from a number of sources to a number of destinations with minimum Transportation Cost is known as Transportation Problem. Minimization of Transportation Cost is the main object of Transportation Problem and Optimal Solution is searched in order to do this. Initial Basic Feasible Solution is a must for finding the Optimal Solution for Transportation Problem. In this article Modified Extremum Difference Method is proposed to obtain a better Initial Basic Feasible Solution for Transportation Problem. A comparative study is also carried out to justify the performance of the proposed method. Mathematics Subject Classification: 90B50, 90C08.
