The onset of ischemic heart disease and stroke is significantly influenced by abnormal thrombosis. Despite their effectiveness, synthetic thrombolytic drugs have certain drawbacks. Hence, there is a need to create anti-thrombotic medications that are relatively safer and made from natural resources like plants. The current study serves as a foundational study for these initiatives. This study was carried out to investigate the thrombolytic activity of fruit pulp of Nypa fruticans wurmb, a plant prevalent in the tropical regions of Bangladesh which parts are utilized for a wide range of medical purposes. Methanolic extract of N. fruticans fruit pulp (NFP) was used for the in vitro clot analysis assay with human blood samples. The percent clot lytic activity of NFP extract was compared with water (17.83±0.05%, negative control) and streptokinase (43.96±0.99%, standard). Compared to the positive and negative controls, the investigated extract's clot-dissolving ability shown a noteworthy 27.83±0.89%, according to the study. Nevertheless, comprehensive clinical trials and the identification of bioactive anti-thrombotic chemicals are necessary to establish the thrombolytic efficacy of its fruits in vivo. The present study found that Nipa fruit pulp possesses thrombolytic potential, suggesting that using it as a dietary supplement could help prevent thrombotic cardiovascular problems.
