dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Proper selection and utilization of machinery effortlessly would boost up and optimize farm production by minimizing unnecessary breakdown/failure, energy and power losses and mismatching of implements to prime movers. The purpose of the study was to describe the selected socio-economic profile of the farmers; to determine the extent of farmers’ use of agricultural machineries; and to explore the contribution among each of the selected characteristics of farmers with their use of agricultural machineries. The study was undertaken purposively in Sundarganj upazila under Gaibandha district. Validated and well-structured interview schedule was used to collect data from 109 farmers during 1 st December to 31 th December, 2020. Descriptive statistics, multiple regressions were used for the analysis of collected data. The majority (53.21 %) of the respondents had medium knowledge followed by 21.10 percent had low knowledge on agricultural machineries and 25.69 percent of the farmers had high knowledge on agricultural machineries. Among 8 selected characteristics of the farmers 3 characteristics namely, agricultural extension contact, and education had positive significant contribution with their knowledge on agricultural machineries but constrained faced by the farmer in use of agricultural machineries had negative significant contribution with their knowledge on agricultural machineries.
