Abstract
Pyometra is the accumulation of pus in the uterus, a common and life-threatening disease of bitches caused by hormonal influence of the uterus in combination with bacterial infection, specially in the diestrus period. This case study enumerates the clinical signs, laboratory findings along with diagnosis and treatment protocol of pyometra. Total five cases of pyometra of different dog breeds are included in this study. These bitches were presented with purulent vaginal discharge, lethargy, depression and distended abdomen. This condition was diagnosed by ultrasonography as pyometra and successfully treated surgically by ovariohysterectomy. The condition of the dogs were gradually improved and finally cured after surgery with proper post operative care.
