Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during November 2020 to March 2021 to evaluate the effect of different doses of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth, yield and quality attributes of SAU yellow cherry tomato. The experiment was outlined in the Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replications using 14 treatments. The treatments were T1=N0kg P50kg K80kg V6t/ha, T2=N60kg P50kg K80kg V6t/ha, T3=N120kg P50kg K80kg V6t/ha, T4=N180kg P50kg K80kg V6t/ha, T5=N120kg P0kg K80kg V6t/ha, T6=N120kg P25kg K80kg V6t/ha, T7=N120kg P75kg K80kg V6t/ha, T8=N120kg P50kg K0kg V6t/ha, T9=N120kg P50kg K40kg V6t/ha, T10=N120kg P50kg K120kg V6t/ha, T11=N120kg P50kg K80kg V0t/ha, T12=N120kg P50kg K80kgV3t/ha, T13=N120kg P50kg K80kg V9t/ha and T14=N0kg P0kg K 0kg V 0t/ha (control). Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were supplied to the plants from inorganic sources of fertilizers and vermicompost (V) was applied as organic fertilizer. Significant variation was found with the treatments. Among the treatments, the maximum plant height (191.9 cm), flowers number (1347.1/plant), fruits number (1061.3/plant), fruit yield (4.8 kg/plant) and (108.6 t/ha) were found from T 4 while minimum fruit yield (1.2 kg/plant) and (26.6 t/ha) were found from T 14 treatment. The quality contributing parameter, brix % (7.5) was highest from treatment T 4 . The best skin and flesh color was also obtained from the fruits treated with T 4 (N 180kg P 50kg K 80kg V 6t/ha ). In view of the overall performances, the growth, yield and quality attributes of SAU yellow cherry tomato provided the best results for the treatment T4 (N180kg P50kg K80kg V6t/ha).
